Is it inaccurate to call it a pretzel? I know it's not the same as the pretzel on, say, tatsu, but it looks similar to me at least in shape. It looks nothing like Montu's batwing or the one on Vortex IMHO. I've been using Pretzel Knot and so far no one that I have seen has jumped aboard. (Because of the exit and entry paths crossing over one another but the track actually twisting..unlike a pretzel loop; pretzel knot has been used on a coaster before.) But if you join today I can promise you free water at any Kings Island drink vendor! I can promise the water even if you don't join.. A pretzel knot and a norwegian are similar. A norwegian by definition is a dive loop into an Immelmann, which is exactly what Banshee has. RCDB is calling it a pretzel knot. King's Island is calling it a Batwing(which is technically incorrect according to wiki and rcdb). I may be the only one calling it a Norwegian. lol

I know they are going to call it a batwing, but its really a Norwegian Loop. A Dive loop into an immelman. But if I was in marketing, I'd probably call it a batwing too. lol
-
Yes, because we really need a "fad" coaster like a Dive Machine or a Wing rider. lol

OK, this has been bugging me about the Blueprint video. There is a weird set of double footers right before the norwegian loop(batwing) and I can't figure out why they have a set like these: The support ghost lines show they go to the middle of the two supports. Would there be a need to make a frames on each side for any reason? There is no inversion at this point. MCBR? Idk and am just stumped by it. Anyone else know why they'd do this?

It would be a hard choice between a strata and el toro for me. El toro is just a beast of a roller coaster. My gf hates coasters but wanted to keep going on it. But there is just something about the rush of that strata launch that is hard to beat.
-
I want to ride this one:

There was the rumor that this was part of a 3 year plan..... I know you are in love with a giga, but If you had to pick between a giga, a strata, and an El Toro type woodie, what would you take?

They have gone as far as they are going to go.

Oh and the third inversion appears to be a cork and not a zero g

I can't tell, as the attraction from which I would get my bearings (Delirium) is not visible. So I'm going to say maybe. It looks like it will use the same entrance as the go carts did.

I'd say it was just for easier construction. You wait till winter, you are more likely to get delays due to cold, snow, etc. And for ground/footer work, that can be a headache. We have a bad Winter and it could delay the opening of the ride. Since that part of the park is not public accessible, they don't have to wait till offseason to do work, like Gatekeeper. It was probably just a case where they could do it cheaper in the summer than doing it in the Winter and could avoid any major delays due to weather.

I thought about the prototype thing, or specifically a wing rider on an inverted track, but decided based on marketing that almost certainly can't be it. They are calling it a world record breaking attraction. If its a prototype it's not breaking any records. If its a "first ever" it's not breaking anything. I think it's fairly safe to assume that and records listed on this will be of the "on an inverted coaster" or more likely "on a full circuit inverted coaster" variety.

You might be onto something there. With a Banshee theme not fitting into the Action Zone, could we be seeing an Action Zone retheme to more a more spooky theme. Dare i say "amusement dark". Flight deck becomes The Bat. They could fairly easily change the old carrier walk through into a cave theme. With some paint and new signs the rest of the area could easily be rethemed as well. I think you're onto something here. I mentioned "Amusement Dark" a long time ago... On mobile so can't fin the link but cf did file a tm for amusement dark. A lot of people assumed it was for a haunt but this seems more likely.
-
Are they new round supports or the same squared off ones that have been posted in pics here before?
-
Don't need to be an engineering expert to read footer locations in a picture and compare it to every B&M coaster ever to know that the cars will be hanging under the track on the new ride.

So the blueprints are fake and the tweets are fact? And Gatekeeper doesn't have dual footers at its station... It's an invert
-
Uhhh the park has gravestones with kic members names on them at the construction site. They went to the trouble to have a gravestone made up to mess with this board but you think they wouldn't make a tweet to mess with this board? How about all of the direct references to kic posts in the tweets? The point of saying "wing it" was directly to throw off enthusiasts as the casual person would think he's referring to doing his speech with no notes. That and the ride is clearly an invert....
-
True. Looks cool. Very expensive. If you try to ride it, someone will tell you you can't.....
-
^ easily So about that Intamin vs B&M discussion...... Kidding kidding
-
Betting on a screamin demon tweet by don tomorrow. lol
-
Other than the footers... we have no evidence of anything. So if you use the only evidence we have, its an invert.
-
The only way this is a Wing coaster is if its on inverted track.
-
That really is a neat concept. I'm not sure if it's physically possible or not. The lift hill chain mechanism seems to be one point that would be in conflict. Plus the track would prob have to be bigger to make sure there was clearance for the wheels and cars themselves around the supports. Then you get into engineering the elements to be tolerable for both types of cars. But I really like the idea. Two coasters with much different specs without using up twice the space.

For trademark purposes would "bat" be the same as "The Bat"? I'd say yes and Lagoon would have a winnable suit against Cedar Fair. If this is the case...then DC Comics would have a case against Lagoon park. So on and so on... "bat" and "batman" are distinctly different. There also has to be a similarity of usage. A car called a bat and a roller coaster called a bat would not infringe on each other. Two roller coasters called bat would. Two roller coasters called Diamondback and Diamond Back? Ok, I'm confused. I'd think that would be a conflict. I know companies often misspell names to create trademarks. Thats the only way I can see those two names for coasters being allowed. Well, unless six flags never trademarked diamond back. So then we have to ask has lagoon tm'ed bat?
