Banshee, Banshee, your beauty engulfs me. Round and round we go, my beautiful Banshee. I'm head over heels, I'm so in love with you And feel like I'm weightless if you'll tell me, "I do." You form circles around me and roll in a line through my heart. For we will forever unite, and till death shall we part. Your cheeks glow of purple, and your nails are painted tardis blue. I'm forever in love, with Banshee, with you. I cannot explain the euphoria I feel. I still cannot believe that your existence is so real. For months I have waited for this day to come When you'd finally reveal yourself to me, the waiting is done. As we spin around into one final spiral I soon discover your existence has gone viral. And with one final kiss, and a wave goodbye, You slowly glide away into the fog filled Kings Island sky. (I'm so pathetic )

So sexy... I just want to--Oh wait... I do love B&M track, though. It's just so photogenic. EDIT: I just noticed the batwing looks like a heart. I guess the two of us were meant to be...

I was watching the live stream and had to turn the volume up pretty high in order to hear what was being said. But my dad was trying to watch TV and I kept having to turn the volume down whenever people would start screaming. It hurt my ears and I wasn't even there! Same! And I'm amazed. Not only is the pacing impeccable, it also has a cool color scheme (and BTW I predicted purple and blue a while ago ), and the theming is beyond belief for a Cedar Fair park. Well done Kings Island and Cedar Fair. Very well done.

But not with Banshee's incredible theming.

Read back a few pages and you'll see what some of us think. I personally hope the fog shown in the night POV will be an actual part of riding Banshee at night. I suggested that maybe what we thought were drains are actually fog vents.

Back where I was standing, a fair amount of people booed. I thought I heard a few booes while I was watching the live stream, but couldn't tell since at that point the audio was coming in and out. Haha that's actually really funny.

You mean this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banshee_(roller_coaster) Now that link doesn't even work. How about this one?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banshee_(roller_coaster) EDIT: For some reason these links stop working.

No. The lift hill height is 167 feet, but when taking into consideration the terrain changes, the difference between the highest point (lift) and lowest (the middle of the batwing) is 208 feet.

To be completely honest with you guys, I'm jealous right now. I love Gatekeeper and all, but I wish it had a theme like Banshee appears to have, especially the station. Maybe in the future Ouimet will get the Point a decently themed ride...But I really am blown away. I wasn't expecting anything like this.

There's already a Wikipedia page about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banshee_(roller_coaster)

I haven't seen this posted on here yet, so for whoever's interested...

I notice that YoungStud has been quiet since the announcement. But he did say he wanted this new coaster to have Gatekeeper-eque restraints. Well, looks like he got his wish so he better not be complaining!
-
The tombstones perhaps, but I took (Greg or Don, video was too blurry I forget who was talking at this point) statement of a coaster that must be ridden at night as an indication that the fog would be utilized as an element for night time riders. How long the fog theme lasts until KI lets the machines run empty is another story. Maybe what we were thinking were drains are actually fog vents? I too thought the fog in the night POV had significance, but then again it could have just been for show. That would be another questions I'd ask, whether or not there will be fog on night rides.

3 trains, 8 cars each with 4 across seating, for an estimated capacity of 1,650 peoploe an hour. Source: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/Banshee/the-evidence/wail-of-the-Banshee-blog/blog-article/Title EDIT: too late

Does anyone notice how the renderings actually show some theming throughout the ride, too? I'm not sure if they will end up with the finished product but notice the gravestones visible in this picture.

Love the new restraints. This thing is gonna be EPIC! If I wasn't as classy, I'd seriously be drooling all over my computer right now.
-
I'm speechless about the station. I think I'm about to faint.

So I've had band camp and have had no free time to read through the Decoding Thread. And while most of my other band friends have probably been resting (AKA sleeping) due to band band, I've been reading through all the pages I've missed in this thread. And there are only 3 minutes left!

And I could see the dark ride going to Cedar Point next year. Whether or not CP gets a dark ride next year or Flight Deck becomes The Bat, I love what Ouimet has already done as well as his vision for the future. I believe he is the best thing that has ever happened to CF.

Glad I'm not alone in considering GateSleeper boring. I haven't ridden it, but I don't get how it's boring. I know a POV doesn't convey how thrilling it is, but there's a 164ft drop with 6 inversions at speeds close to 70mph, while hanging off the sides of the track. It's really disappointing that such a good sounding idea doesn't work out as well as planned. I don't think it's boring or forceless at all. Heck, it's my 2nd favorite coaster at the park. Let me give everyone a rundown in case you haven't been on it, or so those of you who don't like the ride know why I love it. For those of you who complain the restraints hurt your collarbones (previously myself included), there is a simple way to avoid this problem once and for all. All you have to do is before the train leaves the station, hold onto the OTSRs about shoulder level just as you would the chains of a swing. Keep between 1-2 inches between your chest and the restraint and hold onto them like this for the entire ride. You won't have a problem if you do this. It also has a very short line in the early evening. On my last visit, it only had a 10 minute wait around 6 pm. Don't go on it at the start of the day, since most people see it at the front of the park and go to it immediately, creating a long line. Even when the line is long it moves very quickly. You're hardly ever standing still. This thing is a people eater, and I love that about it. I think it's pretty forceful, especially at the bottoms of the hills and the helix. I'm sure if you marathoned it a lot, you'd start to feel the effects of all those G's. I also find the ride to be extremely fun. The wingover drop is unlike anything I've ever experienced and it's my favorite part of the ride. If you're sitting in the front right you slowly roll over and are just hanging below the track. All you see is the ground below you and the only thing saving you from falling out is the OTSR. It's a crazy feeling. With the front left you slowly get lifted up and flipped over. It's a very different experience on the left side from the right but is also fun. In the back right, like in the front right, you get pulled under the track, but since the train has already gained momentum, you get pulled under pretty fast. I can't really describe the feeling, but it's fun. Lastly, my favorite place to sit, the back left, is absolutely amazing. The feeling of weightlessness and pure awesomeness (can't describe it any other way) as you get pulled over the drop is great. The keyholes provide a nice effect, and it's fun flying over the front gate. Besides the wing over drop, my next favorite part of the ride is the 2nd front gate flyover. You get more head/foot chopper effects by flying past the keyholes. Plus since this inversion is slow and more drawn out (which I actually like in this case), you feel like you're floating and falling out of your seat. Then if you're in the back, you get some more nice airtime as you pull out of the inversion before heading up into the MCBR. I love Gatekeeper, and I think the park couldn't have done a better job with it. It has an awesome capacity, it opened the views of the beach, transformed the main entrance, and gave the park a new coaster. I couldn't have been happier with it, I'll be riding it for years to come, and I'll definitely be sure to go on it every visit I take to CP. And if you don't like it, that just means there will be less people waiting in line for it

Upstate NY Vacation (August 2-9, 2013)
Ride On_17 replied to VortexBFForever's topic in Trip Reports
All this talk about GOTL is making me feel like going putt putting and getting a foot long chili dog at Eddie's. Now I'll probably head out there sometime before school starts back up. Hope you're having fun! -
Sure, what is it?

Is Gatekeeper rough?? Not been on it yet. Hoping to go September 28th It's not rough at all. In my experiences there is just a slight vibration at the bottoms of hills and elements, especially in the outer seats, but I've bared even noticed it. Some people claim they get a splitting headache after riding, but I find it to even be smoother than Millennium Force.
