DORNEY 2020!!!!!!! Just kidding. I’d assume this coaster would sell extremely quickly on the resale market. Also, who else would buy this if they won the lottery? -
It’s painted on the reverse face.
-
I know that. However, the person who painted the pumpkin did a great job convincing people that this was legit.
-
-
It also was pointed out to the site I help out with that the land used by the State Fair Board for parking was the same land they leased to KK for expansion. Could this have been their motives? Maps for reference:
-
And if a character of a tv show could best represent the fair board, it be the Soup shop owner from the Seinfeld’s.
-
Yes, Carowinds has an airport nearby. The Observation Tower at Cwinds is used for visual approach.
-
No, I’ve been told this has everything to do with the parking lawsuit. The Fair Board violated a part of their lease, and wouldn’t fix their behavior once notified. Legally, the fair board doesn’t have a case, and they attempted to get the case dropped by delaying the construction of the park’s new ride. This is the same board that sued SF, claiming rides BOUGHT by Six were theirs because it was on their land. They got laughed at during the case hearing. Let me reiterate, the board has done everything from bringing other agencies in to halt construction for them trying to settle a score. KK has done nothing wrong.

It won’t.

Mind if I interject something? Fury has a ton of airtime throughout the ride, however unlike Diamondback where it’s achieved through parabolic zero-g elements, it’s done through quick, rapid transitions that generate a zero-g effect.
-
Let’s take a look at Fury. That was a three year project, as mentioned during enthusiasts events. The first year dealt with land/terrain alterations/waterway modifications. Now everyone is going to say it didn’t happen at KI. However you had multiple sites(Coaster Nation, Coaster-Net, etc...) that reported there was work being done around Firehawk runoff network/ Dino’s. Put that piece of information with the fact that in year 2, Carowinds was working with B&M to install footings for Fury. At KI, why would B&M be contracted in 2018 if we’re getting Antiques in 2019? The most likely reason is that they’re preparing for the third stage of construction which starts in 2019.
-
You’re looking over a key detail. B&M will be working onsite in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. This is a TWO year project. For comparison, the Diamondback project(one of B&M’s most complex projects, only required B&M to be onsite in 08-09). Whatever is being built, it is large.

Yes, look at 2010 and 2000.

If that’s the case, time for the IStreet Polarcoaster with a restaraunt deck on top! -

The funny thing is the person who did this has pro skills at photoshop, since all the lighting, shadows, and shading all are really well done here. It’s just crazy how far people will go to troll other enthusiasts. -

Depends on your definition of using the land. They can always build over it, and technically not use the land.

Also, Firehawk was the most restrictive ride at KI as the maximum weight limit per passenger is around 250 lbs according to Vekoma. -
RCCA was primarily a coaster construction firm, and played a role in the construction of several Six Flags coasters (which have not been RMCed). They were getting a lot of offers from parks. KI was not the first one to approach them about a wooden looping coaster.
-
It was conceived early on. The docs I have are from 97-99, and they're pretty interesting. The 96 docs indicate that the park would get an Intamin Launch Coaster in 98, water park expansion for the next two years, the proposed flyer in 01, the RCCA Wooden Coaster (listed as Hyper) in 02, and Drop Zone in 03. There were other undated projects as well, such as a new multilevel go-kart area and a Star Trek attraction. Only 2 of the proposals that were anticipated in early 1997 did not see the light of day, and those were the 01/02 expansion projects. The fascinating thing is the 01-02 projects nearly saw the light of day. I knew the story told by @Shaggy was true since KD was well on their way on developing the flyer as well. The flyer would have been tucked into the area besides Grizzly and the wooden coaster would have been on the far side of the park along the interstate. However, when Paramount axed the flyer project for KD, they needed a roller coaster to fill the gap. They relocated the CGA S&S coaster to KD, and installed Apple Zapple (then Richochet) the following season. The fascinating thing was that the wooden coaster proposal was the second giant wooden coaster project canned by KECO/Paramount in the 1990s. The first one would have been a giant Dinn coaster over where The Bat stands today. I should also add, that Great America had their fair share of dropped proposals. There was a concept called the "Brady Bunch Groovy Train" Morgan Coaster that involved two elevator lifts. The ride was supposed to go in the plaza across from where RailblaZer stands today. The ride had an elevator take riders up 201 feet, before they dropped 201.1 feet. Riders would then encounter an 157 foot airtime hill, 143 foot heavily banked turn (like on Phantom at Kennywood), 112 foot airtime hill, 20 foot hill, and then a 100 foot curving hill into the brake run elevator which took riders back to ground level.

I’m curious to what the salvage value would be if they were to scrap it. However, the $15 million price tag with the relocation costs probably made this ride the costliest ride in KI History.
