  1. One thing I am noticing is the background image is stretching with the browser, which distorts it significantly.
  2. There's a big, ugly building in Rivertown that would probably work great as a tornado shelter...
  3. I've never been much of a sports fan. So this sounds more up my alley. Although they're not local, it'd be cool if they offered Not Your Father's, if not something similar. The menu sounds great! EDIT: I love how the background of the logo looks like an inflatable raft, like an homage to WWC.
  4. An indoor wooden rollercoaster in the style of Space Mountain? I'm down. Pointless, random factoid: Star Beast was an early working title used for Alien.
  5. 100% agree with @TombRaiderFTW There a lot of enthusiasts out there who want every single thing from their fandom of choice to be made specifically for them. Heaven forbid there be a new ride that caters to families with young children, seniors, and anyone with conditions that prevent them from riding coasters.
  6. Mike? The kid from those LIFE cereal commercials?
  7. I do see it leaving the park someday, maybe within the next 15 years or so.
  8. In an area of the park that has little shade, I'd prefer the water ride to stay.
  9. I feel like this debate is the amusement park equivalent to leaking spoilers for upcoming films. People send up drones, trespass onto stages, and/or have crew members snap photos of sets, costumes, and concept art. The arguments are the same. One side wants to know, must know, and claims to have the "right" to know what's going to happen in the latest Star Wars/Avengers movie, while the other side would rather save that experience for the way it's meant to be seen. Personally, I'm not here less for gossip on upcoming attractions and more for discussion on past and current ones, as well as my love for the park itself.
  10. That's what I thought. My understanding was the MGM was upset that the use of their name in the branding of the park suggested an involvement that wasn't there. Admittedly, it somewhat confused me as a little kid and for maybe about a year or two, I had believed the silly notion that Disney had acquired MGM and its library. (Of course, this was a couple years before Disney started acquiring major studios and production companies like Miramax, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and now 20th Century Fox.)
  11. I know you can do it with the caricature portraits. It'd be nice if you could that with merch, but you know, gotta sell those locker rentals!
  12. There's some interesting foreshadowing going on in with Lucas' involvement with Disney Parks in the 80s. Did MGM have any involvement with that park? I was under the impression that Disney merely licensed the name and its IPs.
  13. Man, you're right! I must've been in zombie mode earlier.
  14. Thanks for your great finds and nostalgic shares both here at KIC and on your FB page, Shaggy!
  15. Also, I believe Paramount has distribution rights for the four existing Indiana Jones films while Lucasfilm controls licensing and legitimate ownership of the actual IP. George Lucas hated studio interference on the films he produced/directed, so starting with The Empire Strikes Back, this is how he went about things.
  16. These things can be pretty expensive, more so when you compare their average cost outside the park. A meal at the Chicken Shack is a meal for two at Raising Cane's and for the price of eating two slices of LaRosa's pizza and a breadstick, you can have your medium pizza and an entire order of breadsticks.
  17. "All we hear is radio giga, radio giga!"
  18. A fence is totally reasonable. A little extra protection just in case is a wise decision. Accidents happen. Murphy's Law, right? Assume everyone knows better than to play around with lions and what do you know, someone gets mauled by a lion. All these incidents happened decades ago. Clearly, people had to be told back then too.
  19. The park doesn't want another "Black Sunday" and "Tower Johnny."
  20. I will join the chorus that SOB was beautiful to look at and the first hill was incredible. I can't say whether or not it was fixable in later years, but I think the only the way it could've truly been fixed is if it had built right in the first place.
  21. I suppose you could either of those tracks to keep Addams Family represented. Did they play The Goonies at the park? I'm assuming you mean the Main Title theme ("Fratelli Chase")?
  22. The thing to keep in mind is that some of us go to the park alone, and having that cell phone on you is handy for a number of reasons, up to and including emergencies, but not limited to necessary distractions while waiting in line. Plus, nothing lasts forever and I want to take photos of some of the interesting things the park does over the years. And personally, while I do sometimes use them, I never feel like my belongings are completely safe in public lockers/storage bins.
  23. In retrospect, I do remember hearing the Main Title track in the park. This version isn't from the score's actual album, as the shortened version (without Deck the Halls) was only available on compilations until La La Land Records released an expanded album a few years back. I highly recommend that release, btw. I swear I remember "A Party.. For Me?" as well and I'm fairly certain it was in International Street, because I would hear it while we were waiting for the rest of the park to open. This was the early days, probably 1995. EDIT: I thought of another one! In later years, I believe they played "Zoom B" from Mission: Impossible by Danny Elfman.
