  1. This is a fantastic idea! Is the idea to have a park map from every year?
  2. I don't think Racer is going anywhere anytime soon. As far as I am aware, it doesn't have structural problems. But what it does have is historical significance. While the article I read plays it up like no one wants to ride The Racer any more because it's bumpy, it does still seem to have a healthy amount of riders. At least from what I've seen. Unless it's to the point where the ride becomes unsafe or unmanageable, I think Kings Island would be making one of its worst decisions in removing this ride.
  3. That would be perfect! My father took me on it in 1996. Eisner made some bad decisions (an understatement to say the least), and his alleged initial concept of bringing Ridley Scott's Alien to WDW was definitely a weird one.* But it eventually led to, in my opinion, an amazingly unique (and scary) experience. *Although ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter ended up with an original story, the more famous Alien ended up in The Great Movie Ride at Disney's MGM Studios.
  4. This was a good year at KI. Even though I've been going to the park since the late 80s, there were a lot of "firsts" in 2018. The Peanuts Celebration was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the room they set up with the history of the characters, as well as the art. I spent a lot of trips to the park with my girlfriend at the time. Unfortunately we are no longer together, but there are a lot of great memories and ride photos nonetheless. We even rode Woodstock Express together, which was hilarious. Plus, I finally have an Antique Photo to call my one, which I wouldn't trade for the world. My father passed away this fall. My only trip to Haunt this year was the day of his passing. My cousin took me and my sister there as a way to get our minds off things. It was a rough day, but still I had fun. Pumpkin Eater was a stand out. It felt like it was never going to happen, but I finally made it out to Winterfest. With me came my mom and sister. It rained, which was a bummer. But I finally got a winter ride on Mystic Timbers and for the first time I ever, I purchased a shirt at the park. It was The Beast's 40th Anniversary design. To go with it, I had a Beast Hot Chocolate, which I shared with my mom. I'm not really supposed to have sugar, but it's been a rough year. So I figured, why not?
  5. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to get out to Winterfest this year. Having to work early hours has made it difficult as it is, but the biggest problem seemed to be whenever I could squeeze in a night to go, it would rain.
  6. Flat rides are also great date rides too.
  7. BLSC isn't something I ride often, but it is a fun little coaster, and I know a lot of people who seem to enjoy it. Personally, I don't want to see any coaster go unless for safety and maintenance concerns. I certainly don't want rides to go out of spite for what was there before.
  8. I'd love to see a Ferris Wheel return to the park. Also, I second replacing Boo Blasters. It'd be nice to see either see the return of Phantom Theater or Enchanted Voyage done Peanuts-style.
  9. And more importantly, why wouldn't people want that?
  10. And the movie that Fox/Blue Sky made a few years ago was charming as it can get. The contemporary pop songs used throughout felt out of place for The Peanuts, but the story and characters were pure Schulz.
  11. I think it's time they switch up the entertainment in the Festhaus and move on from those decade revue shows... ..especially before they get to the Nickelback era!
  12. I'd imagine they have to be making some kind of money or else I doubt Kaman's (the company that runs the art/tattoo shops for the park) would continue selling them. But I can't tell you the last time I've seen an actual person wearing them.
  13. I'd like to see the Wheel, Keggers, and the clock and characters above the Festhaus return and I think the Festhaus itself needs a facelift, inside and out.
  14. The yellow does look better. It also would match the Peanuts theme. Woodstock is a yellow bird.
  15. You only have to be in your mid to late 30s to remember it. Nevertheless, it was introduced in 1989, a good 17 years after the park originally opened, and while next year marks Soak City's 30th year at the park, it still brought a significant change to a large area of the park well into its lifetime. I wasn't alive to see the earliest years of the park, but judging from photos, it went through a number of major cosmetic changes in those days. Just look at all the green. I love the park today, but man, when it opened, it was beautiful.
  16. Were the additions of The Bat and The Beast responsible for expanding the back area of the park with the walkway behind the antique cars? When did that happen? Also, Oktoberfest has gone through some serious changes since the park has opened. What appears to have been a very beautiful, open area of the park has been stripped down to tiny, little area.
  17. I think it's cool KI has a history of using scores for their rides outside of the Paramount era. They played "The Idol Temple" track in the queue line, as well. I also remember The Beast played music from David Arnold's Independence Day. I believe it was "Darkest Day," which is when the ships arrive in the film. And later, IIRC they used music from Michael Giacchino's "Lost" score. During the last year of The Crypt's operation, they used Hans Zimmer's "Inception" score in the queue line and during the ride.
  18. YES to scores! That Bernstein track is wonderful. As good as the scene is with "Blue Moon," I kinda wish the cue was used. Keeping with the score motif just for fun, here are my picks: Flight of Fear: "Prelude/Radar" by Bernard Herrmann from The Day the Earth Stood Still Banshee: "Let's Get Her/Rebirth" by Jerry Goldsmith from Poltergeist The Beast: "Main Theme/Desolation" by Ennio Morricone from The Thing BLSC: "Rush Hour" by Mark Mancina from Speed Diamondback: "The Swarm" by Jerry Goldsmith Vortex: "The Black Hole" by John Barry Adventure Express: "The Idol Temple" by John Williams from Raiders of the Lost Ark The Bat: "My Skull/Gurney" by Jerry Goldsmith from The 'Burbs Mystic Timbers: I love it's music already, but hey why not? "Plymouth Fury" by John Carpenter from Christine
  19. Actually, they are renaming Banshee "Bananarama" and replacing the lift hill scream with strange voices. What will they say? Things you can't understand.
  20. Of all the nights to have bought out..
  21. How about Waterworks? Its inclusion brought a significant expansion to the park.
  22. Maybe some sort of aesthetic addition, such as how the park added a shaded area and the Chicken Shack the year they debuted Banshee.
  23. I don't think so. I don't always eat at the park. That can be expensive sometimes, especially when you consider the price for the same food outside the park, and there's a budget to consider. When I do decide to eat there, it feel special. Some of us also have to consider health concerns, such as dieting to lower A1C levels, sodium intakes, and carbs. A lot of times, the best way to control this is to make your own food at home as opposed to eating out.
