Not cost effective either. Why make million dollar modifications to a coaster that old, especially when it won't improve its' rideability?
-
I was about to say, what second lift hill? But, you're talking about the MCBR. Vortex won't get new trains. Too expensive for such an old ride. The reason it was done to FOF was to make it rideable.

Castaway Bay was added to attract year round visitors, not specifically to CP. CP already has a resort feel with Hotel Breakers, the Campground, and Lighthouse Point. I will give PKI credit for trying, but that doesn't make them great attractions. So, what other Paramount movie will be the next one themed to? I can't think of one single good one.
-
Ummm, Castaway Bay is not going to attract more visitors to Cedar Point. It wasn't meant to. And I disagree with you, joker. IJ, TR, boring. If I want real theming, I'll go to Disney or Universal, not PKI. Paramount doesn't have any good movies left to theme to, so now you get a bunch of rides themed after crappy movies. And just because some of us don't like some of their recent installations doesn't mean we can't voice our opinions. This is not kisspki'sbutt.com, in case you hadn't noticed.

IJ:ST = Mediocre. PKIboy, that sucks about the stairs. Wonder if the fish tailing will ever happen?

^You mean B&M uses the term cobra roll for the same thing Arrow calls a boomerang. Not being picky, just Arrow existed long before B&M. I still don't think that they are the same inversion as they do not do the same thing, as I pointed out in my earlier post.
-
You are right FOF1996. We can expect more heavily themed, boring coasters for the next 20 years. Although, IMO, there are no more Paramount movies left worth theming anything to. So, they will probably use some crappy Paramount movie that you won't remember in five years.
-
I assure you that Vortex's last inversion is called a boomerang. This is a boomerang This is a cobra roll A boomerang goes in to a half corkscrew, then half loop, then another half loop, then a final corkscrew. A cobra roll goes in to a half loop, half corkscrew, half corkscrew, then a final half loop. They are not the same thing.
-
How was Breaker's Express? I've considered staying there, but just haven't yet.
-
Corkscrew is decent, but short. But, you have to keep in mind that it was built before the Arrow mega loopers like Vortex. It was the first coaster with three inversions. Being launched at 120 mph is something you can't describe, but must experience. Magnum is still one of the best in the park. Good big drops and great bunny hops with lots of air time at the end.
-
^Did you stay at the Hotel Breakers? If so, did you like it? You should've given Wild Cat one lap. Great little coaster and pulls more g's than Dragster.

PKD is receiving an IJ:ST clone for 2006. Don't know about PKI.
-
Actually, the original poster said nothing about Vortex sinking, just being removed. I don't want to see it go, but with PKI, you never know. I didn't think that they would remove King Kobra since it received a new paint job two years before its' demolition, but we all know what happened there.
-
A boomerang and cobra roll are two different inversions. A boomerang is the last inversion on The Vortex before the finish. A cobra roll is found on most B&M's and Raptor at CP has one. Totally different. Hope this helps.

I am hoping to sneak in a trip to GL before the season ends. I am positive that CF can and somewhat already has, turned GL around. Maybe after next year's waterpark expansion, we may finally see the hypercoaster that was rumored to be installed there finally come to fruition.
-
I agree with CombatStupendous. B&M's are by far better. However, the King Kobra was the first stand-up coaster I ever rode and it was neat at the time, before B&M. But, after riding Mantis at CP, I never rode Kobra again.

"I was walking along maintenance row with a Park Adm. employee back in April and saw one train on skids and asked what they were doing with it, and he said that he thought the trains were getting conditioned, parted, and sent to NC to another coaster, presumably Shockwave at PKD." I think you mean Virginia, not North Carolina. PKD is in VA and Paramount's Carowinds in NC has a B&M stand-up.
-
I'd rather PKI get something like Storm Runner than TTD.
-
^But it is actually longer. I've seen it discussed on many other boards.

Top Thrill Dragster is at Cedar Point. Kingda Ka is the one at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. Millennium Force is one you don't want to miss. Power Tower is a good flat and if it is working, so is Chaos. Wicked Twister is awesome and looks great on the beach. Disaster Transport is a must miss unless you want the coaster credit. Magnum XL200 is pretty good with lots of ejector air time. The Mantis is a good standing coaster. Unfortunately, it has slow loading/unloading, so the line is ususally long. Raptor is still ranked in the top ten inverted coasters in the world and is a real thrill. Mean Streak is a decent wood coaster and has some good head choppers. Geminii is a cool racin coaster with some good air and a great final helix. Blue Streak is pretty decent and has some air time. I would also give maXair a try, even if you have been on Delirium at PKI. From what I have heard, maXair gives two more full swings than Delirium. Cedar Creek Mine ride is ok for that kind of coaster...no better and no worse than Adventure Express. Dragster is a very short ride, but the rush is amazing.
-
The Beast has never really had much air time to speak of. And I still get plenty of air riding The Racers.
-
What I want to know is, why do guests want it explaind to them what happened to _____ ride anyway? You're not a ride mechanic nor an engineer, so, it's not like you'd understand anyway.
-
I never even considered the gas prices. Definitely would be a problem.
-
^They don't need a giga, but I would sure like to see one there.

I agree Crispy, IJ is located in the wrong place. Seems more suited for Action Zone, even though I'm not sure where it would go.
