I know I'm quoting myself, but, it apparently was in the Rose Bowl, not the other helice. I was wrong...no the first time.

Rollerzach, it was in a swimming pool, not on a slide. Knoxville, yeah, the boy was warned, but, the cover for this intake pipe only was snapped on and not secured. Usually, an intake is not that close to a pool. It is more than a legs length from the pool. Most of the time, pumps and motors have a room to themselves a few feet from the pool.

I'm glad that this has been cleared up. From a Cincinnati Enquirer aritcle, it was made to sound like the second helice instead of the Rose Bowl. Wonder why it has been stated that the riders felt a jolt after the Rose Bowl but before the loop?

The Beast was and is a record breaker. At the time, it was the tallest, fastest and longest wooden coaster. Now, just the longest. Vortex was a record breaker as tallest and six inversions. I guess you could say The Bat was a record breaker since it was the first of its' kind.

^You just reminded me of something I had forgotten. My grandfather, God rest his soul, rode The Beast long before I was brave enough to ride. I remember him saying that coasters back in his day were nothing like The Beast.

This is absolutely horrible. Lately, it seems bad incidents are the order of the day when you consider the boy who died on Rock-n-Rollercoaster, the woman passing out on Mission:Space, the SOB incident...a horrible month. Boy loses both legs

Except King's Island didn't win any awards for any of their shows that I can remember. However, CP won awards just this past year from the IAAPA.

Yeah, they do spend millions on upkeep and re-tracking every year. SOB had a bad reputation and fairly low ridership before this incident. I think that it will be gone...maybe not by next year, but within a few years.

I would like to see what is left of the train restored. Too bad that it is really only transportation to and from the waterpark now.

^Um, someone's chest bone was broken. I don't think there was any exaggeration there. Granted, most were bumps and bruises, but definitely one was seriously injured. My point was that no one received anything more than bumps or bruises from The Beast incident. I would say that THAT makes the SOB incident considerably more serious than a slow bump into another train.

Gotta agree with you Hank. I was shaking when I came off of The Beast for the first time, too. I thought I was the only one. It is a good point that it was indeed some thinking outside of the box with this one. Beast at night is unbeatable. Ummm, I thought this was a poll...how come no voting?

I have a feeling that we will all be waiting until next year. I will ride it again if it re-opens.

Never heard of any accident on The Beast that was similar in any way. The only one I recall was a slow collision in the station due to the skid brakes not completely stopping the train. What incident are you referring to?

I think we all know that amusement parks charge an absurd amount for food or drink. This is one of their money makers that allow them to build million dollar attractions every year. If they only charged what McDonald's does, it would mean a huge dent in the budget. Especially if you get a fountain drink. Mad money can be made from fountain drinks.

Nice find, coaster chickie! I wonder if this cracked wood is near the loop section that everyone has been talking about.
