  1. The gauge of the Intamin pre-fabricated track would have to be the same as SOB. Not sure if it is or isn't.
  2. ^You've only been on Chang? I figured that you had been to Cedar Point. You must get there as there are two great B&M's there. The best beemer there is definitely Raptor. If I remember correctly, it was the first B&M with a cobra roll, which is an amazing inversion. The other B&M being Mantis, their stand-up coaster. I like Mantis and it has a huge first loop that goes into a diving loop which is phenomenal. It is pretty smooth as well. I will always love King Kobra since it was the first stand-up I ever rode. But, Mantis just does so much more.
  3. Why do you think that? KI makes enough money on its' own to pay for their new attractions. Now, of course next year, CF will honor whatever installation that they were planning. After that, it's CF's decision and they know that KI may not be the flagship park, but it has to be a close 2nd.
  4. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/shows/index.cfm Thanks, coastersnsich. It was the IAAPA awards and not the Amusement Today awards. Good find.
  5. They tell people where to sit on coasters so that they can get as many riders on in one day as humanly possible. That is why CP wins awards for capacity. What park has CP copied? Combat, I was talking about the Amusement Today Awards.
  6. ^Some people think that Dan Snyder mentioned the possible selling off of six more parks to cause the stock to plummet so he could buy up more shares. He did own 11% and now owns 12%. I have no idea if there is any truth in this, but, it's something to think about.
  7. Really, the entertainment isn't good at Cedar Point? Then, how do they win awards for their shows every year?
  8. Come to think of it, I would think that many of their coasters would be hard to relocate as many are adapted to the Mountain landscape.
  9. ^Heck, I'd even buy Cedar Point for $50.00. Seriously, it is well worth the gate price. You can find discounts at Meier Dairy stores, if I remember correctly. Either that, or call Cedar Point and ask for their getaway guide as it has discounts too. Downside hill of Dragster is cool with the twist, but, it's not until near the bottom that you reach 120mph again.
  10. ^You are correct, Kenban. It is a profitable park for Six Flags and fits their new image. I agree wholeheartedly with Chef.
  11. Rugrats is a great kids coaster. It's also a great fit over there in Nick world.
  12. I don't forsee anyone buying SFMM and maintaining it the way it is. Too much money to be made in the real estate. Maybe they could relocate some of their coasters to other parks, although that would be expensive too.
  13. I think if anything, CP could learn a lesson on how a kids' area is supposed to be like. I think Kiddy Kingdom is a horrid example of a kids' area. You have about 5-6 car flat rides that go in a circle. They just have different cars. How atrocious.
  14. Got a pic of little chef in the Scooby outfit? I love to see little ones dressed up in little themed outfits. Did baby chef enjoy the meet and greet?
  15. I've been on Dragster only once, in the opening year. It was an amazing ride. I purhcased a hotel package deal and was allowed in the park at 9am. My friend and I immediatley queued up for Dragster. Well, right when it was supposed to open, they make an announcement that the Ohio ride inspector was there, not sure why. Anyway, we wound up waiting three hours to get to ride. Sometimes, I have waited for coasters for three hours before. But, after having been on Dragster once, I wouldn't wait for more than 45 minutes to 1 hour at most. It is a very exilirating experience and over too quickly but definitely worth at least one ride. I tried to get a view from the top, but thought it was going too fast to really get a good view.
  16. Magnum's station is VERY bad in that there is too much confusion once you are in the station.
  17. ^I thought of the same thing. While checking out the rcstengel site, carpetarson, you can see that there are many older projects that they couldn't talk about and still have not updated the stats and such on their web site.
  18. Sorry to hear about your luck. Any plans to return? And, welcome to PKICentral!
  19. Amusement Today ranks the top 50 coasters in the world every year. In 2005, 74% were Stengel designs! Indeed impressive!
  20. B&M is know in the industry as the cadillac of rollercoasters, due to their smoothness. If I'm not mistaken, and somebody will correct me if I am, their wheel design is patented and no one can copy it and use it on their coasters. Me, I am a fan of B&M and Intamin. Both make incredibly smooth rides. Intamin pushes the envelope of technology while B&M makes some of the most reliable coasters in the industry. And, while B&M makes some of the best coasters around, it seems that most coasters are designed by Werner Stengel, whose many credits include Top Thrill Dragster, Son of Beast, Millennium Force, Flight of Fear, and many more. Here is his home page...rcstengel.com
  21. ^But, they will probably plant some younger trees to replace the others. CP has been doing this for a while, but you don't notice yet since they are not full grown. And, I agree about the tiques area. It seemed really serene. A very scenic car ride, if you will.
  22. Yes, you can. On a side note, my local park in West Virginia, Camden Park, installed flying scooters for this year. I need to get there and try them out. I've heard that you can snap them too!
  23. I know what you mean, Mr. PKI. Still, I'd rather have concrete than black top. I remember the first time I went to CP and thought, where is all of the scenery? Second trip, I really paid attention to that kind of thing and was surprised by my previous inobservation. There were plenty of trees and scenery, especially in Frontiertown. Just didn't really take the time to look for that kind of thing. I do like, however, that CP has a lot of their queue lines covered as PKI really doesn't. I can only think of Delirium, Drop Zone, and Face/Off. And, if they aren't covered, they have the misting fans, like over at Magnum XL200. Sometimes, it's a combination of both.
  24. And people say that Cedar Point is a concrete jungle. Ha! concrete jungle? I wouldn't assume that PKI will have a lot less trees and scenery under CF management.
  25. It's not dumb considering it is one of the parks that is losing money instead of making money. A new coaster has nothing to do with whether or not SFMM makes money.
