  1. Not what I was talking about, no. I did see those, both wrapped and unwrapped so I know which ones you're talking about, though. The "twins", etc on Freak Street.
  2. The tower stacking music draws heavily from the music played during Cirque's teeter totter act. The rhythm is the same although I am fairly sure the Cirque version wasn't as intense/dark/dirty sounding. So, yeah, I'm thinking custom too. "The fire baton/triangle act (which always makes me wince--I'd be too afraid I'd burn myself!)" During one of the shows I saw last week, he dropped the baton just as he was on his back twirling it around his leg. The flame landed directly in a tender spot and it stayed there long enough before he grabbed it that I became worried. Fortunately he wears fireproof clothes, and he didn't appear to have gotten burnt.
  3. Somebody mentioned them being wrapped in burlap in recent years. I'm sure I saw something like that this year: burlap wrapped figures that appeared to me to be animatronics due to the supporting structure. I wondered if they'd be moving later in the night but forgot to go back. I didn't recognize at the time that they might be from Phantom Theater. I can't remember for certain where they were, but I think it might have been near the entrance to Nightmare Alley.
  4. I still didn't find any of them actually scary, but enjoy Slaughterhouse the most. One of the guys in there got real close to my face and sniffed me, which was certainly creepy. KillMart have stepped up their game some. There was an interesting extended zombie cat fight between two "employees" towards the end that was pretty funny.
  5. Well I feel a little chilly now after reading those. Glad it's still light out...
  6. From that first article: "These kids are acting upon each other with no apathy, no sympathy, no sensitivity. They've become desensitized." Well at least we've figured out how to make teens less apathetic...
  7. I was going to say the same thing as LoraX about what's disturbing. That restroom is just plain wrong. It makes me relieved they don't try to add realism to the scents of the houses, that's for sure. I also found some of the stuff in Urgent Scare (the bare chested abandoned patient, and not because of the bare nipples) and towards the end of Slaughterhouse disturbing as well.
  8. It was random which side yelled what, just depended on who decided to start cheerleading. I am pretty sure none of the commercials actually included a rocking ship.
  9. The chant started (along with the commercials, obviously) when I was still a kid myself. Inappropriate, maybe, but that is probably why it was so popular. I won't even go into what myself and some other Girl Scouts used to find it fun to yell back and forth on rides... It's interesting to me that there's nothing in current popular media that has caught on. I always liked the community aspect of it, even though we were mostly strangers, we came together because we all knew the words.
  10. Less filling! (I've been tempted to start up this chant every time I've ridden the ship this year, but I know I'd just get a lot of blank stares)
  11. It wasn't actually part of the Haunt, but my mind keeps going back to the "ghost girl" I passed in the crowd early on opening night. She was just a little girl, maybe six years old, wearing a cream-colored hoodie with the hood pulled up. She was pale, and had a certain ethereal melancholy quality to her.
  12. One of the skeletons injured himself during the trampoline act of today's first performance. I didn't see exactly what he did, but a little after the "juggling" part he stopped and went offstage. He was back for the beginning of the second show, but didn't perform on trampoline. The other two mostly just danced and jumped up and down, and they stopped the music and ended the show around the point the juggling part usually started. I hope he's ok. It was the taller, skinnier one, the only one of the three without close-cropped hair.
  13. Crowds are a lot lower today than I expected for such a nice day. I got my free FL+ for renewing today, but I've barely needed it. I wasn't the only one with the idea, and it's not been uncommon for both lines to be the same length (short).
  14. I didn't find any of them particularly scary. There is a dummy in Urgent Scare that mirrors a particular fear of mine, though, and has continued to stick in my mind since I saw it.
  15. That was adorable! Glad you had a great time
  16. Why is Backwoods Bayou billed as a Fear Zone, but treated more like a Haunted Attraction? It was really annoying to try to go that way as a shortcut back to The Beast's area, only to realize it is one-way (unlike any of the other zones). I was pleasantly surprised, though. I like a lot of the props through there and the actors weren't bad either.
  17. I bought a Racer t-shirt this year. It was at the clearance store, but they've apparently made them recently enough to have had any to put there. There are currently a whole bunch of Vortex shirts at that store. I would like Adventure Express gear. I think some sort of miniatures of the drum guys would be super-cool.
  18. Yeah, I waited less than 1/2 hour for Slaughterhouse at 10:00. I expected it to have a longer wait by then. Beast's line had gotten even longer by the time I got out tho so I couldn't fit both in before the 11 Skeleton Crew. Having so much stuff going on is keeping lines fairly short for as many people are here.
  19. It's gotten kind of busy. More people are riding coasters than last week. Waits for Beast and Diamondback look more than 1/2 hour.
  20. Crowds aren't as big as last Friday, at least not at gate opening.
  21. Well apparently they've hired better PR than they had earlier in the season
  22. I saw that sticker set on sale for $1 at the store I mentioned, just last weekend. I'm probably going to get some if I make it to the park this weekend.
  23. The "$10 and Under" shop at the entrance to Coney Mall is a good place to find merch for retired/renamed attractions. I bought a t-shirt (for $5!) earlier this summer that lists Firehawk, Backlot Stunt Coaster, Crypt, Son of Beast, Flight of Fear, Flight Deck, Beast, Vortex, and Racer. I got it specifically to commemorate the two in that list that only existed during the 15 years or so I wasn't going to KI.
