There's a lot of trucks and workmen around one of the access roads that goes by Diamondback. They are tearing up a large chunk of that road near one of DB's dips (the last one before it goes around above the soccer game IIRC). I haven't got any good pics yet, but you can see it well from on DB, and less well from the train. Best I got so far They're also continuing to clear the hill more or less across from the unused station. I heard strange noises from what sounded like inside Fort Coney but didn't look like anything was going on in there. Probably a strange echoing from elsewhere. No footings that I can see yet, and no mixer truck as of when I rode the train around 1 today. There are some new materials hanging out in the gravel area they built just outside the WWC queue I zoomed in on the tag as well as I could with my phone camera.

If they want suggestions, I'd love to see brass rings we can try to grab in the shed

She's all put together and running today! Edit: closed to riders so far, but they're running cycles. Edit again: it's fully open now. They even put a notification in the Kings Island app encouraging people to come ride.

Decoding Episode 2.5: BONUS ROUND! Second Announcement!
Magenta Lizard replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
Oh so sorry we haven't been able to solve the whole thing to your satisfaction in four days. *rolls eyes* Teasers will help, but we always are going to begin with wild speculation until the park gives us a little guidance.- 438 replies

Decoding Episode 2.5: BONUS ROUND! Second Announcement!
Magenta Lizard replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I think we'll get some teasers, yes. Refresh my memory, has it been indicated at all when we might be getting the second announcement? I remember someone (I think Don) saying we wouldn't find out what was in the shed until the ride opens. If the second announcement is in August or September, it changes my guesses as to what it might be, versus if it came sometime during October. Today, KI's Instagram featured yet another pic of the train. The train was also beside the announcement field during the first announcement, although I assumed it was being used as an obstacle to make sneaking out of the assigned area much more difficult for anyone inclined to do so. However, it is possible that they are already teasing us that there will be more differences with the train experience next year than Mystic Timbers to look at. If I had a vote, I'd want more theming, especially a return of the train actors and/or animatronics.- 438 replies

Decoding Episode 2.5: BONUS ROUND! Second Announcement!

Dictionary.com has no definitions for it. I'm amazed. Sounds like a cross between "spiral" and "swirl" to me, so I would assume it is a twist cone. -

I just thought how cool it would be if the temporary juggler replacement they had last week at Origins returned this fall as a fire juggler in a new Skeleton Crew show!

I'm starting to realize it may be a bad idea within marketing to ask your customers a question without also supplying the answer you want. Because the longer I think about #WhatsInTheShed, the more smart-alecky and jokey my responses are becoming. My favorite, (that I hope is my own and not something I heard someone say and later remembered as my own) that I tweeted when I was punchy from lack of sleep last night: #WhatsInTheShed ? Nothing, it's MT. Empty!

Watch "Mystic Timbers at Kings Island POV" on YouTube
Magenta Lizard replied to scottwoods42's topic in Kings Island
There may be something to companies leaving it a little sketchy and unfinished-looking. GCI is in the business of building coasters, not animations or acceleration theaters. They are going to want their final product to be the "wow!", and would not ever want to risk someone saying "the animation made me think this was going to be better," after riding. It is enough to get the idea across and whet the appetites of the customer and the public. Plus it is cheaper and easier than something more elaborate, so why risk overpromising by putting in more work? -
New For 2017: Mystic Timbers!

Oh, so it's like on Delirium? I got stapled on that by a ride op once, and dreaded the moment when the bar usually tightens down automatically, because I thought it was going to make things worse. Fortunately, because she had already shoved it far enough into me, it didn't tighten any more. -
You should be good, then. https://www.facebook.com/BloodDrumsKingsIsland/posts/831376763659355:0 The Street Drum Corps' Blood Drums at Kings Island Facebook page had a post this week (for the first activity this year) that mentions "great new things happening with SDC and BLOOD DRUMS this year!" So that sounds like they're coming back.

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
Magenta Lizard replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
It amazes me they can come up with a name like that and it still not be unique. Mystic Timber even sells "tools" called Beasts. https://mystictimber.com/ Angry Orchard is based in New Jersey or New York, I forget which, even though they do have a brewery in Cincy. I don't think their artwork is done here. There's only so many ways to draw an anthropomorphic old tree man, tho, so it is going to feel familiar. -

The name has grown on me a little since its first announcement. At least it has all its vowels in the proper places for American English, and isn't difficult to pronounce nor has ambiguous pronunciation. I'm not in love with it, but I still enjoyed riding Top Gun after it was blandly renamed Flight Deck, so I'm not super hung up on the name. Plus, when I reached level 5 in Pokemon Go! I picked Team Mystic. So, you know, this ride is for me I'm a fan of Angry Orchard hard ciders, so I kind of like the tree guy on the t-shirts. However, I'm not so sure how much that brewery is going to like it. There's always a soft spot in my heart for anthropomorphic trees. -

Nope, although I remember that post. I have known for awhile the pavers are a holdover from the Paramount days. The ones with writing on, from The Paramount Story, have just been flipped face down, too. -

That image reminds me of when the flying Ford Anglia gets caught up in the Whomping Willow in Harry Potter for some reason. Actually, these baby blue trains have been making me think of that all along subconsciously, I think. -
So far, I haven't. But probably around the house. I basically bought them because I couldn't believe KI had them made, and they were on the $5 rack at Coney Confections. Guess they weren't popular for some reason

I have two t-shirts from Kings Island that I will probably never wear to the park. One says Big Woody on the front, the other says "I'd rather ride a woodie" on the back.

The markers running through that area beside the cannons suggest the ride will run fairly close to the cannons. It appears that there will need to be some way for foot traffic to go beneath the track to get between the turntable and the cannons. It doesn't appear to me that the train will be running close enough to be shot by the cannons if that was your question, though. -

Can I just say how cool but scary the animation at the beginning of the announcement video was? https://www.facebook.com/visitkingsisland/videos/10154981184613368/ Seeing Kings Island taken over by nature was simultaneously intriguing and horrifying. I've seen pictures of abandoned parks, and I never want that to happen to Kings Island. -
I really enjoyed seeing the new juggler!! I miss Jorge and want him back but I also wish I could have seen his replacement more than just today. Maybe they could keep him on and the two could do a juggling duo He's a fine juggler, and super expressive.
