  1. Any particular reason the latter isn't your favorite KI memory?
  2. There's no longer a need for reservations anyway so you can just show up at the gate like the rest of us.
  3. October 2021, right..?? A vaccine by this October, <2.5 months away, widely available? That's quite a stretch. Having one ready in limited quantities by October 2020 is enough of a stretch.
  4. Yup. We don't really know what it's like to recover from this virus yet - many will surely have lasting health issues for some time, but not all. Any statistics given for "recoveries" don't seem to take this into account. Michigan further seems to think that "recovery" means "not dying within 30 days of initial symptoms". I have no idea how that works, when there are patients hospitalized longer than 30 days. You could be near death in a hospital on a ventilator and Pure Michigan would consider you a recovery.. until you do pass, then, they'll say "oops" and remove you from the recovery count. Welp. 5. But the whole point of wearing masks is for the win... against this virus.
  6. Or there's only so much to talk about related to KI, so without this thread, there'd be even less activity around here? *shrug*
  7. That's not how vaccines work. All that really matters is understanding how the virus actually operates - how it infects the body, what it's composed of, and what can be done to prevent it from infecting someone. Where it came from isn't a factor in that science, unless of course you have evidence there is a lab that created this virus and thus knows its intimate details.
  8. Hank's sure could use a chef's touch. *hint, hint*
  9. Michigan has had mandatory masks mandated for a while now indoors (exceptions for dining, health issues wearing one). It's now mandatory outdoors if in "close proximity" to others. Businesses are being told that they are required to deny service to anyone not qualifying for an exception, or both businesses and guests face fines. People have generally been complying, but of course there is for instance the occasional group of young adults at Meijer not wearing masks, walking 4-across, aimlessly wandering the store..
  10. I just want to point out that the article is (or at least was originally) filed under crime. The crime would be not losing the weight and depriving yourself of a ride on Orion.
  11. ^ Keep in mind that shifts are often scheduled like that to have extra staff for opening, to cover for breaks, and closing.
  12. Wait, what? You just made this entirely political, and you say that was unintentional..? Kinda blows holes right through the rest of your "rant". Couple things, though. "Recovered" doesn't mean "good as new, like it never happened". There will be many people who not only have lasting symptoms synonymous with COVID-19, but also those who have lung, etc., damage from both the disease and treatment. Ventilators aren't exactly gentle on the body, for instance. Looking solely at death counts does not give you nearly the whole picture on this pandemic. There is always going to be fraud and bad data any time humans are involved. If you were telling me that the majority of labs, the majority of tests were faulty or fraudulent, then I'd be concerned. Saying that some bad actors fall through the cracks in the mad rush to acquire enough resources to test for the virus, and to treat those who fall ill, does not suddenly invalidate those who are truly suffering and even dying from this virus. But hey, you're not going to make it political, at least not until your third sentence. That was a quick 180º.
  13. Isn't that just how marketing is for everything? People, food, cars... everything is rendered to look as flawless as possible. Reality can never quite match up to that, but should that be the point? If we're comparing a fast food burger commercial to one that clearly looks like the kitchen used it as a punching bag, I see the annoyance, but I don't expect every single burger to look exactly like the commercial. Just good enough, so long as it tastes good. Those fries look good to me (hold the "cheese" sauce, though).
  14. In that case, I would check with HR at Carowinds (whoever is working with you to temp at Cedar Point), or call Kings Island, if no one here chimes in with a better option.
  15. I don't work for Cedar Fair, but have you tried your employee ID # in the passholder reservation system?
  16. Loads of people, yourself included, are questioning exactly that. Not sure what you're getting at..
  17. At least INTAMIN rides to date haven't required metal detectors and lockers for pretty much anything you have on you, even prohibiting the use of cargo or jacket pockets...
  18. A pre-paid Visa "gift card" can generally be charged as either credit or debit, just like a debit card for a checking account. Anywhere that takes Visa cards should accept them no problem (KI included). As mentioned above, also take a look at the All Day Dining and refillable Souvenir Bottles. Cash should still be accepted but it is highly discouraged.
  19. Yup, there's no online way of canceling a reservation online. You'll have to call for that, and wait on hold (that took me ~15 minutes the other day). They can, however, be modified online. There's a dedicated info page for reservations at the link below - select Manage Reservation at the bottom. You'll just need your order number (from your email confirmation when you made the reservation), and your email address. You can then select a new date and time. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/tickets-passes/reservations
  20. SEASON PASS Fast Lane PLUS - $549 PLATINUM SEASON PASS Fast Lane PLUS - $875 Daily is currently unavailable. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/tickets-passes/fast-lane
  21. I would expect them to continue indefinitely, until we hear otherwise.
  22. They either had them ready on opening day, but chose not to use them so that they could see the ensuing chaos before acting... Or chose not to print timed entry tickets in advance / did not consider it, but spent all of opening day rushing to print thousands of them after the line stretched all the way to BLSC. Which seems more likely?
  23. Depends on the severity. It's important to at least have a supervisor/manager talk to anyone disparaging the company to let them know it's not acceptable. From a professional standpoint, you don't speak ill of your company, especially not on company time.
  24. It's not an all or nothing proposition. For instance, I enjoy Millennium Force, and will not hesitate to ride it if the line is reasonable enough when at Cedar Point. However, for a variety of reasons, I do tend to prefer Fury 325. Similarly, one can enjoy Orion, but still wish it had XYZ elements from another ride. No shame in that. No need for trash talking, though.
