I hope so, for the park's sake.

If Cedar Fair Could Purchase One More Park
jsus replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Could be a great sales pitch -- "Look how many of your passholders are interested in visiting our park." It'd be even better with in-park spending data related to those guests, though that'd be skewed by free admission. -
In addition to 2020 passes themselves being extended to 2021, so too are all add-ons, e.g. drink/dining plans, FunPix, FastLane. Think of it like you bought a 2020 pass, but now it's really a 2020 thru 2021 pass. Anything you can do this year, you should be able to do next year, including but not limited to switching between drink plan (on pass) and a reusable bottle.* *As always, feel free to confirm this with the park. You can now order through mobile in the Festhaus (this is not a drill!!)
jsus replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Right. Like I said, you can use the 10% passholder discount to pay for your items, both on beverages and on the food menu. You can also use your dining plan, but not your drink plan. For instance, there are whole cheese and pepperoni pizzas which aren't dining plan-eligible. You'll have to pay for those, but you should get your 10% discount. -

Note that drinks for the season pass drink plan still need to be acquired from a cashier, just like when ordering from the kiosks. Mobile ordering will only give you the 10% passholder discount and your dining plan meal. Surely they have a reason for this, but I don't understand it. -
Almost everyone is home from school since March or so...

I don't take it personally. I'd just appreciate an explanation, since what we said shouldn't be viewed as confusing or controversial in the slightest. This is a discussion forum, after all, so let's discuss, @coaster sally!

@coaster sally, what exactly has you confused about the last two posts from @silver2005 and myself?

Ding, ding, ding. And there's nothing wrong with that. GateKeeper, Orion, etc. are still great rides and great additions. It doesn't have to be the most mind-blowing ride. It just has to appeal to the demographics at that park.
-
Part of the problem, both with Orion and GateKeeper, is that enthusiasts generally want to see something new and innovative. Something they haven't seen before that blows them away, or at least combines the best elements of other recent rides. Reality is that it's difficult if not impossible to keep pushing the limits, and it's not always necessary. Take each ride for what it is. Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Maverick, Steel Vengeance, etc. may be the stars at the park, but they need a supporting crew of fun rides, too. I still very much enjoy Gemini and Magnum, for instance, even though they're primitive by modern standards. Same thing with Adventure Express at KI. GateKeeper was never intended to be a boundary-pushing extreme thrill ride. It's a nice, relatively tame and approachable ride with some cool features that interacts nicely with the main gate plaza. The keyhole towers make an excellent first impression as you approach and enter the park. The ride itself is fun, too. I'm particularly fond of the in-line twist behind the towers.

@IceePirate, if you have info on that, I'd be happy to hear it. My understanding was that B&M trains are only built overseas, though that could be wrong.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
jsus replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
@silver2005, then I must be very silly, as I very much enjoy Cedar Point. It's definitely got its operational struggles, and plenty of room to improve, but it's a beautiful setting for a FUN park. -

Good point as well. Sandusky is the HQ but there's the regional office out in Charlotte (not on-site at Carowinds) as well. -

I do. Banshee's media day was my first visit to KI. It's one of my favorites, particularly the use of the terrain and how much less rough it is than Raptor. Not quite 100% smooth anymore but still a great ride. CP is not the owners of KI. That's Cedar Fair, the HQ of which is located at CP. As you mentioned, they don't seem to have a good handle on the park's operations, despite literally having an office building just outside the park. -
When were they down? Other than the one that was on Corral last season that hasn't been relocated..
-
Some, not all. There are bad apples in every group who are never happy. Some of us very much appreciate @Kyle Kruthoffer's work on these videos.

You can pull up the video from the blog and cast it to a TV, Chromecast, or other device that supports Google Cast. YouTube apps on at least some of these devices (e.g. my Roku) support this functionality. You can also mark the video as a favorite, add it to your own playlist/Watch Later list, or pull it up from your history (if your smart TV/box allows you to browse YouTube history). It's not as convenient as pulling up a search on the smart TV/box, but it isn't much more complicated.

And as always, don't waste your money!
-
Sorry, didn't mean that KI sends their trains to PTC, just that it's close enough to be financially feasible unlike sending a B&M train back to Switzerland.
-
I would imagine it would cost substantially less to bring an engineer or two out to KI to consult vs. the roundtrip freight cost on a roller coaster train. PTC is in reasonable enough driving distance that KI and CP can send trains there on trucks for rehab, but Switzerland is a bit far.

New food item at Kings Island (this one is on the meal plan!)
jsus replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Is it included this year or are they charging for it again? (I've heard conflicting things in the past) -
@disco2000, the last time Cedar Fair tried replacing a Chick-fil-A (at Cedar Point), it was an extremely sad failed experiment that ended in CfA reopening. They initially touted that Frontier Inn would be a sufficient replacement, but it was meh to start and quickly went downhill.

Online Reservations NOW OPEN on KI's Website
jsus replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
It's easier and more efficient to have one automated system to track entrances and exits, then make the data available to the suits. No need for an attentive admissions host to man a clicker, we're all counted auto-magically. -

They almost certainly know how many are in the park at any given time. I can't remember for KI, but CP has overhead "virtual turnstiles" at the gate - basically, sensors mounted to the ceiling monitoring how many enter and leave. I imagine KI has the same system (little white-ish boxes over each lane).
