  1. Sandusky Register update - points at a bolt coming loose, but obviously unconfirmed: Coaster victim screamed in pain
  2. I have to agree on that. There doesn't appear to be any ambiguity that the metal object was part of the train. The way it's described as "a small metal object" tells us they located the exact object that hit her. Also, not having a medical background, the info about the ambulance requesting a transport copter makes sense, given she was already known to have been transported within a couple hours of the injury. I'd expect them to at least take a few hours to assess and stabilize, if they didn't keep her overnight for observation, before sending her closer to home if that's all it was. Trying not to read too much into things, but this incident combined with GateKeeper's chain failure earlier in this season does start to bring up worries about Cedar Point's ride maintenance program lately. 0 such incidents should be expected in a season, so to see 2 (1 causing hopefully non-fatal injuries) is very troubling.
  3. TBH I didn't really need to suggest Toledo. Cleveland is far more likely, unless they don't have capacity. Trauma patients likely aren't "competing" with COVID-19 patients, though, so the point holds.
  4. I wouldn't read anything into that. Without details, it could have been that they were shouting to "stop the ride" after the apparent projectile hit the unfortunate guest. Running that as a headline sounds like someone knew something was wrong but the ride kept going, implying negligence on behalf of the ride ops, when we have no information that suggests that. If anything, the wording makes it sound more like it happened in the order I suggested above. Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio, is a Level III Trauma Center. Level I is the most equipped; FRMC is likely at a higher tier / lower level of care because of its smaller market. Presumably the patient was transported for more intensive care to a Level I/II center in Cleveland or perhaps Toledo. Pray that they're able to treat her injuries in time, that she survives this tragic incident.
  5. Nope, that's a light snack, even for a kid. I get there was an alleged wing shortage but that's kinda absurd.
  6. Cedar Point is iffy there since there's no great way to get through the city. No idea why the signs suggest US-6 off OH-2 E. And yeah, dumping you from Monroe down to US-6/Cleveland is lame when Monroe becomes 1st and ends at the causeway (way better). OH-4 to Monroe/1st St is okay. US-250/Milan gets all the tourist traffic with hotels, shops, restaurants, the mall, and the park.
  7. Generally if you're going to a large destination like KI, it's a good idea to use GPS to get to the area then follow signage from there.
  8. About Cedar Point removing Wicked Twister because a park in China has a version that's taller and faster? Yes, that makes absolutely no sense. When has any park ever removed a ride entirely simply because another park built one that was longer, taller, faster, or some other record?
  9. Corral is the one up by the front of the park, The Roost is over by the beach, yeah. I don't know if it's any good, and I don't know if it's even open much. They originally were going to have a mac & cheese / The Roost concept under the north Skyride station, but I don't know if it ever opened. If so, it was rare. It was like a side project to them that they didn't really care about. Eventually IIRC that was the side that was converted to an ICEE/Coca-Cola stand. Now, they've got The Mac Shack up between Toft's and the arcade where Pink's used to be, which seems to be open at least a good bit of the time. They relocated (?) The Roost over to the fresh cut fry stand they operated the least, then didn't open it at all for the longest time ("coming soon"). They've supposedly opened it now but can anyone report if it's been open and if the food is any good?
  10. Cedar Point's New Corral is a rebuild of the Old Corral, converted from a walk-up stand with a variety of items including "walking tacos" into mainly a chicken shop with inside, air conditioned service.. that on multiple occasions last season served me very hard, almost inedible chicken tenders with cold fries. Again, not at all on the level one would expect from Chick-fil-A.
  11. Locals know the Skyline and LaRosa's brands. Many locals like those brands. Those guests are more likely to buy and even spend more money because it's a brand they know and like, rather than an in-house brand. Cedar Point spent a couple years running an in-house concept where Chick-fil-A once stood. It did not go well. They brought Chick-fil-A back.
  12. It's a thing - some people like to turn old buses (even school buses) into RVs by gutting the interior and building it into an RV. Popular Mechanics even wrote an article about it: https://www.popularmechanics.com/home/a30022899/convert-school-bus-house/
  13. You might have thought you were helping, but you didn't think much. You had no idea what the status of the ride was, what the procedure was and how well it was being executed. I certainly wouldn't want a water bottle when, as she claims, I'm going to be sitting on a lift hill for at least an hour with no bathroom. It'd be warm in no time and then I'd need a restroom. She complains that they were allegedly still sitting on the lift hill an hour later, but she does not realize how much of that alleged delay he caused. She also complains that the food stand cashier wasn't going to bring water bottles to the riders stranded on the hill. Well, duh, that's for park operations to handle, not a random cashier nearby who knows little more than how to serve snacks and drinks, and cash them out. Not the biggest fan of Six Flags, but I expect they have procedures in place for these things, especially on a toasty OKC day. I can't comment on the operations of that park, but I will note that I was once on Mystic Timbers in the shed when the power to the ride went out. There was a train in the station, fortunate for them. In the shed, it was quite toasty, but at least enclosed. Unfortunately for them, there was also a loaded train stacked out back, baking in the Sun. After being manually released and escorted around the corner into the station, we were provided with, wait for it.. Cold Dasani bottles! No need for a guest to trespass through a restricted/LOTO zone; the park had it covered.
  14. The Pickup / drop-off lot is accessible off of Kings Island Drive under the tall Kings Island sign (with the screen on it). Enter directly off the road; don't go to the toll plaza. See map below for reference. https://goo.gl/maps/jiR1WW3b97dqaaELA
  15. Yikes. That's one way to make me prefer the time I was at Harmony Hall at Carowinds where they were playing Kidz Bop on FunTV over by the bar. I thought that was bad but yours is worse. Who thought that was appropriate? *facepalm*
  16. So you don't waste your money! Ya even when they intentionally choose a category, it's often forced.. e.g. https://www.wcpo.com/money/consumer/dont-waste-your-money/teen-writes-book-on-the-history-of-kings-island Did anyone think @KIghostguy's book would be a waste of money?
  17. This is something I've never understood. Social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) are like bulletin boards in different places. If you're gonna put your message out there, you use every bulletin board you can find to make sure it reaches people. Instead, so many companies will just post key updates in one place. Like, use every appropriate method you can to get the message out (an email blast for cancelling Chef's Plate might be a bit much).
  18. So the question is, wouldn't signs/posters + using all the digital signage in the park these days (at the gate, the touchscreen maps, FunTV, etc) be at least as effective without little cards that will just be ripped up, tossed everywhere, and ignored? Signs that you see repeatedly for reinforcement? That said, no amount of posting rules and reinforcement will prevent what happened on the 22nd without strong, visible enforcement before the situation becomes out of hand.
  19. Yikes, what's the chance these aren't literally littered all over the park by Monday? And who cares what some little card says when their tempers flare?
  20. No shame in that. It'd also make an easy side job that pays even better than their skilled work should they wish.
  21. ^ Yup, the pay is low for such an important service. The harm is really not justified at any rate of pay, but that doesn't help matters. $20/hr wouldn't make up for the abuse but it would show more appreciation for how much value they bring. Of course, CP does have its own EMTs that presumably are at $20/hr this season, if this unidentified EMT wanted to make the move.. Though, with tackling this guy, they could look into CPPD as well. Impressive.
  22. Yes. The answer is clearly yes. ... wow. Attacking the responding EMT, who has to tackle and knock you out before they can even render aid to the person they arrived to assist. There are no words for something as evil as this.
  23. There was also no way to tell where the back of the long wait-in-a-long-line-to-get-a-ticket-to-wait-in-a-long-line lines were, or what they were. There was no associate walking around advising people what they were getting in line for. If you came across the train tracks by Gemini and saw a line backed up all through Frontier Town, how do you know if it's an Access Pass line for Maverick or Steel Vengeance? Or maybe nothing at all, because people are just waiting around? You can ask the people in front of you, but then it's like a game of telephone - are you sure they know?
