BUSCH PARKS: BLACKSTONE, now what?
jsus replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm just worried that FUN may not necessarily be in the financial position to go on another park-buying spree just yet. Between the '04 purchase of GL and '06 purchase of Paramount Parks (or at least the existing parks themselves..), Kinzel definitely strained the company's resources. Understanding that Ouimet has brought in almost entirely new leadership, would FUN be willing to expand? As it is, the only park they have in a region that competes directly with the large destination resort parks (the actual theme parks) is Knott's Berry Farm. It does do some competing on theme but it's still not a direct competitor to Disney or Universal, per se. BGT would put them more in a competitive position with those names, something they don't have experience with. Am I saying that I don't think they could do it? No. Am I saying that they would be branching out into something new when they still have expansion potential with at least one property (Carowinds) that should be a priority over expanding the park lineup? Yes. As for SIX, I don't know if they're going to be buying new parks anytime soon. Particularly since their bankruptcy and mass sell-off of parks, they seem to be a lot more cautious/"frugal" with their ride installations. They even rely on a lot of in-park advertising to raise revenue. After shedding parks, are they going to be looking to expand again? SIX was burned badly last time, so they may well be even more cautious than FUN. -
BUSCH PARKS: BLACKSTONE, now what?

^^ I'm only joshing. Yes, it's a little trickier with the Busch Gardens parks since they were Busch Gardens from day 1. Then again, there's always the question of whether or not they would need to be rebranded. They're not presently owned by Anheuser-Busch yet they're stilled named Busch Gardens. If they're not paying to license the name, would Cedar Fair feel the need to rename them? SIX would definitely make them Six Flags Tampa (or Florida, or Over Florida) and Six Flags Williamsburg (or Virginia, or Over Virginia).. -
Oh, I know, it's B&M. These guys know what they're doing. See also: Leviathan is still standing with no issues to speak of, right? Its lift is similar. Also, they haven't exactly had to delay a ride opening so they could rip out an entire inversion and replace it with an s-curve after the very first test run with riders. It's just the appearance of it messing with my mind. It's insane, in a good way.

^^^ If it were Cedar Fair, they'd either call it "Williamsburg" or "Virginia Williamsburg" if we apply the post-Paramount naming scheme. Somehow, I don't think so, though.. -

How many things in commercial buildings (or even residential, for that matter....) are ever thoroughly cleaned to kill all germs? *shivers* -

"New for 2017: Busch Gardens is now Busch-Free Gardens. Now more family friendly than ever!" -
Actually, that's only the second of three flyovers, accompanied by one fly-under. The first one is the one over that path on the left, as part of the s-curve. The second is the over the path on the right, an overbanked curve toward the parking lot. After a horseshoe turn, a fly-under goes through that ditch and under a to-be-built bridge. That leads into a camelback hill for the third and final flyover. Just being technical since Fury 325 flies over the two paths three times in total and under one time.

Xlerator Hand Dryers Splatter Bacteria

Automatic faucets, automatic soap dispensers, automatic paper towel dispensers, and button-activated or outward-opening doors. The automated devices must not be the cheap ones and must be properly maintained.. I'm not sure which is worse. Those old school faucets that are manually operated with a built-in timer (that never stay on long enough, some don't stay on at all) or automatic faucets that either don't turn on or won't stay on. Then there are the paper towel dispensers that only give you like 4" worth. Wait, where was I going with this rant? Oh yeah, I'm picky about my bathrooms. -

Half the times I tried using those Dyson Airblade dryers, my hands were blown against the side of the machine and I had to wash them all over again. Not really a very clean design to literally blow your hands at the interior walls. I stick to paper towel now.. The Xlerators aren't as bad but they still blow bacteria around. -
Cedar Point's new Larson unit has the dead man's switch, so I would presume Kings Island's will get the same.

Obviously, there's no room for expansion in Oktoberfest and International Park is a new 75 acre expansion for 2016. How did y'all not know about these secret plans?

It was, many years ago. -
I'm particularly fond of (not really) "The fun and only" being used to market every park in the chain. Especially when you get Cedar Point and Michigan's Adventure commercials played close together with the same slogan. How are they both "the only"? That's logically impossible.

Do notice that there were many an individual placed throughout the course. Presumably, these crews contained EMT's and other resources capable of responding should the need arise. -
http://www.fallsatlanden.com/floorplans.aspx That doesn't exactly look like a luxury apartment to me. Cheap, builder-grade finishings. Laminate counter tops, white appliances, luxurious? Methinks not. I mean, it looks like a decent amount of space for a decent price but there's nothing that shouts luxury to me about those video tours.

KC was also from a much simpler time without a lot of the computer-aided testing that is available these days. That should theoretically make it so that only routine testing is required prior to assembly on site. However, some manufacturers (cough INTAMIN cough) find ways to mess that up. Virgin Cruise Line Plans to Disrupt Industry
jsus replied to Leland Wykoff's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well, that escalated quickly. They all departed as virgins but only a few shy kids who hid out in the bathrooms managed to return as virgins.
