  1. For what they SHOULD get, I'd really want them to make it more like a coaster. Ideally, not relying so heavily on screens, but actual physical design and theming. Screens just seem like the cheap way to do things. And if I want to look at a screen I can do that at home or go to the movies. For what they WILL get, I have to agree with goodyellowkorn182.
  2. My phone's the first thing I grab in the morning too. To shut off the alarm. I'm not much of a phone oriented person either. My iPhone is made from two old broken iPhone 4's. Frankenphone! If I didn't live 1500 miles away from family I probably wouldn't use it that much. But it's nice to have it to text my parents and my grandpa.
  3. After the outage yesterday it logged me out. So I figured no time like the present to do the forgot password thing. All is well now, thanks!!! And thanks for all you do to keep this site up and running!
  4. If it's like Steel Dragon at Waldameer, where it's more of a controlled, slower spin, I can handle it. If it's like the Crazy Mouse coaster I rode this weekend, it may be a one and done thing for me! Edit: Steel Dragon claims to have freely spinning cars. That was not my experience several years ago. One of the rare spinning rides that didn't give me a migrane.
  5. This is where I'll post my trip reports in the future. Mini-trip report May 1st: We went to a fair on Friday, because in the past almost 4 years of living in El Paso I have never seen one until now. Even though we have Western Playland, I was curious to see what kinds of rides they'd have. The first thing we rode was the Crazy Mouse roller coaster. I was actually really impressed with how this traveling coaster looked. Shiny, fresh paint. No odd noises. It looked like it would be a lot of fun. However, actually riding it was a bit of a different story. The cars are designed to fit 4 to a car, two on each side sharing a restraint. But if you only have two riders you each occupy one side. The beginning of the ride was actually really fun and fairly smooth except of course for a few intense turns. Then the ride started spinning. I still have a headache and bruises from being whipped to one side of the car and then the other hitting my shoulders & arms on the sides. The hills were very bumpy while spinning. It was an interesting experience, but not something I chose to ride again. After Crazy Mouse I had an awful headache and decided to avoid most of the spinning rides. I wish I hadn't chosen to ride it first because I'd been really looking forward to riding the Hurricane, but I just couldn't do it! Next we rode this Ghost Pirates dark ride. It was kind of like a tiny budget version of Whacky Shack with a couple of scares and a tiny bit of theming. I liked it enough to go on it a few times. The rest of the evening was mostly walking, visiting assorted fun houses, trying to decide if I was ready to ride Hurricane or not (which I didn't end up doing), trying to avoid overly aggressive game operators, having dinner consisting of a corn dog and a shared funnel cake with cherries, and riding the ferris wheel over and over. The ferris wheel was probably my favorite part, it was smooth and had beautiful LED lights, and of course the views in El Paso are pretty fantastic. We headed home a little after dark. It was a nice night and I'm happy to have a bunch of neat pictures.
  6. It's raining!!!!

  7. http://behindthethrills.com/2015/05/busch-gardens-tampas-new-coaster-is/ http://www.pixelsattheparks.com/2015/05/03/busch-gardens-tampa-project-2016-update-6/ Update! Looks like the ride is very likely to be an indoor Mack Spinning Coaster.
  8. Do season passholders pay for parking? Or is that covered under the pass?
  9. I always thought Frontier Town was really nicely done. It's weird that other areas aren't themed. It would be awesome to see a nautical themed area for the rides along the coast.
  10. It sounds like a good idea that would be beneficial to both parks. If a family was planning on Kings Dominion and has never heard of Busch Gardens Williamsburg (or vise versa) that combo deal is really good advertising. It will be interesting to see how this plays out!
  11. Yeah my work computer only has Internet Explorer, and I didn't save my password on here. X_X But thanks for the tip! I'll probably just try the forgot password thing when I get home today.
  12. The only rides I feel unsafe on are Drop Towers, and sorta-kinda certain wooden coasters (not scared of dying, I'm just scared of hurting my neck as I often do.) ^^ Thanks to this info I feel less scared on Drop Towers now though!
  13. Yikes. But... Why wouldn't they repossess the rides that weren't paid for instead?
  14. Need a creative project.

  15. ^ One of my absolute FAVORITES. Very unique in that it has a small, family park feel with lots of trees and a wonderful atmosphere, but their owner is still always looking for ways to improve and add new ride experiences without turning it into a concrete slab. Waldameer is probably Conneaut Lake Park's main competitor. They both cater to a similar demographic of families rather than super-thrill-seekers.
  16. I don't see how the park could possibly make a comeback. I loved the park as a kid, particularly Witches' Stew (I'm not sure what happened to it.) But what's the big draw to bring people in? Other than those of us who like it for historic value/nostalgia? Can they possibly bring in enough revenue to pay the debt and the property taxes? How could reopening for another season do anything but dig a deeper financial hole? (For the record: I'd love to see them succeed. Any park closing down is sad.)
  17. Rough day.

    1. NoChickens

      NoChickens

sorry to hear that, I hope it gets better

  18. My first coaster was Gemini. I think I was 7. My dad made me go on it with him. I don't remember being super terrified, just very hesitant. I required a little cajoling and I got on it. I've loved coasters ever since. Loved watching TV specials about the latest and greatest new coasters, etc. However I was still scared of loops until I was 13, and once again my dad convinced me to go on a coaster with him. Serial Thriller at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. I actually liked it a LOT and got over my fear. I rode just about everything after that. I still prefer coasters without inversions, but I'm not scared of them anymore. I just like coasters like Diamondback where it's more about airtime. Also sometimes overdoing it on looping coasters will give me a bad headache/neck ache. But that mostly depends on the coaster. Edit: Typos in park name.
  19. I'm not sure if I should make a new topic for this or post it here... It's not exactly a site problem. I can't remember my account's password. I'm logged into my work computer continuously cause this is where I made the account, but I need to figure out the password so I can log into my home computer. If I log out, is there a forgot password function? I don't want to risk losing my account.
  20. I like the way they explained this. Hopefully the Department of Labor inspections will reveal all is well and put peoples' minds at ease. I'd feel pretty safe at Carowinds knowing they have these safety systems in place.
  21. People who see his post will probably be curious to know what exactly happened.
  22. Saving every penny for a trip to CP and KI this summer!!!

  23. ^ That's a smart thing to do regardless of policy. Back when they had Chang, I rode with an friend in high school and his glasses fell off. Luckily they stuck to the floor of the train, somehow, and he didn't lose them for good.
  24. I actually kind of liked the map on the old website. It was nice to be able to see where things are without the hassle of going to Google Maps and looking up each one individually. But the new website is pretty. The coaster animation is neat. I like the logo.
