Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare New in 2026
MaestroJr replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I agree from what we have seen so far the new Phantom Theater has much more of a cartoon looking design than the old PT and therefore probably not a good idea to market it at Haunt considering that it is first a ride for families and you don’t wanna deter them from thinking it’s too scary for children -

1. Hoping that theirs lots of animatronics and that the queue has the Maestro and moving bust, I would like to point out that two of the bust in the walls are still there so that would be easy to install. 2. Having said that i think the peppers ghost effect may not be included due to emphasis on shooting targets or also the Maestro in the lobby as Kings Island may put more of an emphasis on the actual ride and not the queue. 3. Keep this ride a staple at Kings Island, in the future if a new dark ride happens then build it somewhere else, leave phantom theater at the park just like disney would haunted mansion or pirates of the carribean -

Cool to see boo blasters behind the scenes and also cool to see that at Sally Headquarters you can still shoot at the scooby doo and the haunted castle props, new Phantom Theater Maestro looks slightly more cartoonish but still looks good, I wonder how many Maestros their will be, im excited for the expo soon -

It wasnt from The dipping dots guy was it shaggy? :) Yes, that would be a cool façade for sure and also to answer your other question. Yes, they used to play music and noise outside the queue. -

If the ride is anything like that facade then I think we’re gonna have a really nice time on it, I hope we have some sort of preshow, but if we don’t, then that’ll be OK as long as the ride is good -

That’s pretty cool. Do you have any photos from the inside from the time? -
I wish they did something like that for all the rides, I like it how The Beast sorta has a story especially when you had Son of Beast and Beastie, The Racer does feel very generic in that category

I see thanks for the info, it’s something that I never really thought about, I do wonder if they’ll save any parts of boo blasters and reintegrate them into phantom theater. I hope boocifer stays around -

Something that I never really thought about is who tears down the ride does Sally come in and do it or does Kings Island themselves do it? -

That’s a good idea, Cedar Point really does need one dark ride, I think that would solidify them even further as the goat -

Maybe I’ve just been reading too much of the news lately but this Six Flags money issues just have me worried about the future of Kings Island and our new Phantom Theater, I’m a worrier, can’t help it -

Does anyone worry that Six Flags recent financial struggles will cheapen the ride or possibly even delay its opening? -

Here’s a picture of the original Phantom theater production, courtesy of theme park University. Happy to have the Phantom theater back again, especially in an animatronics. -

Anybody at the park today? Wonder how the lines are for Boo Blasters?

Firehawk’s Place in Kings Island’s Legacy of Departed Coasters
MaestroJr replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
To me it was never a huge favorite, I always viewed Firehawk as a unique coaster but definitely one that I didn’t ride very often, the loop always made me feel kinda uncomfortable, I did enjoy the flying aspect of it and riding it the final day it was open was definitely a memorable experience but at the end of the day I think Orion is a far superior coaster than its predecessor and one that appeals to a wider audience -

How long after Boo Blasters closes do you think until we see construction begin? -

So very excited about this announcement, I have been waiting for this for a long time! I guessed that it would be Phantom Theater with flashlights and I was right haha! Many questions remain A. What will the queue look like B. Will the ride be screen based or Animatronic based or a combination C. How will the flashlights work at hitting targets D. Will the ride remain the same length and same number of cars E. New music? New lines from maestro? I am glad they decided to keep an interactive element, I think children who love Boo Blasters would be upset with a new ride with no “blasters”, overall very excited and hopefully Sally will do well with it, they are good at building rides -
Very excited for the announcement tomorrow, however, I do think there is one thing that we need to understand, first of all there’s no way that if we do get a phantom theater ride then it’s going to be as good as the original, I just don’t see anyway how it’s better, but hopefully the younger generation will be able to make memories with the maestro, I don’t mind screens on rides as long as they complement the ride with animatronics, I will say Disney does a good job with their Toy story mania ride at Hollywood Studios, I do think that it would be a good idea to keep the competitive element on the ride, not sure if the younger generation would go for a phantom theater ride unless it has the blaster element and I for one I’m fine with that as long as it gets some TLC, even a moderately decent Phantom Theatre will be better than boo blasters

Interesting take shaggy, I just hope that if we do get a “new” PT, that it is done with TLC, it would be nice for the new generation to experience even a little of what made the original Phantom special
