Firehawk’s Place in Kings Island’s Legacy of Departed Coasters
MaestroJr replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
To me it was never a huge favorite, I always viewed Firehawk as a unique coaster but definitely one that I didn’t ride very often, the loop always made me feel kinda uncomfortable, I did enjoy the flying aspect of it and riding it the final day it was open was definitely a memorable experience but at the end of the day I think Orion is a far superior coaster than its predecessor and one that appeals to a wider audience -

How long after Boo Blasters closes do you think until we see construction begin? -
Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare New in 2026
MaestroJr replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
So very excited about this announcement, I have been waiting for this for a long time! I guessed that it would be Phantom Theater with flashlights and I was right haha! Many questions remain A. What will the queue look like B. Will the ride be screen based or Animatronic based or a combination C. How will the flashlights work at hitting targets D. Will the ride remain the same length and same number of cars E. New music? New lines from maestro? I am glad they decided to keep an interactive element, I think children who love Boo Blasters would be upset with a new ride with no “blasters”, overall very excited and hopefully Sally will do well with it, they are good at building rides -
Very excited for the announcement tomorrow, however, I do think there is one thing that we need to understand, first of all there’s no way that if we do get a phantom theater ride then it’s going to be as good as the original, I just don’t see anyway how it’s better, but hopefully the younger generation will be able to make memories with the maestro, I don’t mind screens on rides as long as they complement the ride with animatronics, I will say Disney does a good job with their Toy story mania ride at Hollywood Studios, I do think that it would be a good idea to keep the competitive element on the ride, not sure if the younger generation would go for a phantom theater ride unless it has the blaster element and I for one I’m fine with that as long as it gets some TLC, even a moderately decent Phantom Theatre will be better than boo blasters

Interesting take shaggy, I just hope that if we do get a “new” PT, that it is done with TLC, it would be nice for the new generation to experience even a little of what made the original Phantom special
-
I think an interesting take would be a Phantom Theater with flashlights as the “blasters” and the goal is to find the maestro and his crew hiding in the darkness

I for one grew up with both versions of this ride and even though I SINCERELY hope for a new Phantom Theater ride, I also acknowledge that I have a fondness for both these rides, this is a place to discuss fond memories of Scooby and Boo. My favorite memory of Scooby is riding it with my brother, sister and mom and feeling totally like I was in a episode of Scooby Doo, As for Boo Blasters I will miss the ride as it was one of the only things me and my dad have ridden together as he has rarely visited KI since the 2000s and he rode it with me during winter fest when it was about 10 degrees In the building! I grew up with both these rides and will miss them, please share any favorite memories of either incarnation of Boo Blasters or Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle!

My prediction is that it will utilize boo blaster current ride cars and system and just retheme it to Phantom Theater. Reason A: Phantom Theater is already an IP well familiar with Kings Island faithful and nostalgia and marketing are a hell of a thing. Reason B: it wouldn’t cost very much but would still be a “new ride” Reason C: they could utilize a lot of the props they already have and switch out the soundtrack very quickly and easily while also saving a buck. Six Flags Fiesta Texas did a similar thing with their Scooby Doo haunted castle, they simply rethemed it with new guns and a new story with some old props but mostly new and voilà you’ve got yourself a new ride in Pirates of the Deep Sea, I personally think that merchandise featuring the Maestro would be very popular and not to mention nostalgic. I can’t wait for next weeks announcement and I for one seriously hope for a Phantom Theater ride in some capacity, I fully accept that the original isn’t coming back but a “new” version would be welcome, I will be seriously disappointed if they waste this opportunity with a lame ride not to mention they chose to play Tocata Y Fugue which is well known as the Phantom Theater queue music so they REALLY shouldn’t play with people’s emotions by selecting that if they are gonna go a different route so I hope they choose the Maestro and we can once again visit the Theater!

Yes the old boiler is still in slaughterhouse, there at the very end of the maze
-
Not anymore I don’t think, they used to be outside the crypt building, but that’s been quite a long time ago, when they did the Phantom Theatre encore two years ago, there was only a few animatronics still around, and they were only fragments and pieces, my guess is 99% of those are OG animatronics are gone
-
I would think this all but confirms Phantom Theater 2 which is very exciting but still many questions remain and hopefully they shall be answered next week!
-
Seems to be the cheapest option would be to reskin boo blasters and re theme it to Phantom Theater or something else, I wouldn’t mind seeing that but I do hope that if they go that route they create some new animatronics, they could even re use boocifer as maestro but cardboard cutouts would be a major disappointment

I wonder if they’ll wait to make an announcement after they close the ride, the anticipation is killing me

One thing Id thought id point out is when Scooby Doo and the mystery of the spooky swamp closed at SF: St Louis on 9-14-14 and the new Justice League ride opened the following June, I do not want a justice league ride and would much prefer a phantom theater ride even with the gun element but just saying it can be done quickly, I rode Boo Blasters yesterday and it’s really sad the state it’s in, only one of the three guns worked and half of the ride props where off or non functional,I will miss this ride but I’m ready for a change

Kings Island Rides That You Have Never Ridden Before!
MaestroJr replied to kingsislandfan1972's topic in Kings Island
Never rode Son of Beast regrettably, had the chance but was too scared and when I wasn’t scared anymore it was headed the way of the Dino -
I would like to see the Phantom theater come back to the park in someway, I really hope that since they’re closing this in September that they’ll be a ride opening next year because if not, it seems stupid to close it so early, I really hope this isn’t like Vortex where a ride closure resulted in nothing replacing it, especially since dark rides are such a crucial part to theme parks especially for people who can’t ride coasters because they have certain disabilities and such.

Kings Island to add “family thrill” attraction in 2026
MaestroJr replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I really can’t emphasize how much the park needs a good quality dark ride which hopefully we will be getting soon, it’s been such a long time since we’ve had one and it is such an under appreciated part of seasonal theme parks especially when everyone is focused on coasters -
Thanks very much, I plan on going tomorrow and I wanted to game plan

Anybody go tonight to give an update on what rides on running ?
-
Ah thanks for the info I didn’t know that

I kind of wish The Adventure Express was open as well for Winterfest because I think it would be a pretty nice addition to the lineup and it’s not a very intense roller coaster so I think it can operate most of the time. It’s nice to have The Racer though.

How long do you guys think that Son of Beast station will remain standing considering Wolfpack obviously isn’t going to come back apparently. It’s cool that it still exist but it’s a bit of an eyesore and considering it’s not being used it serves little purpose.
