  1. Only been to 5, but I would put CP at the top and KI 2nd. Headed to Carowinds this spring for the first time hoping it meets my expectations...
  2. I skip speculation videos... There are some channels that seem to put out one daily, and it's mostly off the wall crap that someone takes as gospel and then cries about when it doesn't happen... I'm always down for a 'This is what is going to happen' video or Trip Report/Review videos...
  3. I liked Reds, but sounds like I'll like this too!!! Very jealous...
  4. ^^^ As am I... It get's overshadowed by the great lineup there, but it's a really fun ride..
  5. I swear I'm going to read somewhere in the next month 'Hey, I heard somewhere that Kings Island is getting a giga in 2020 called "Space Beast"'...
  6. I'm not saying there isn't a correlation... I'm just saying that there are more factors... Per cap spending is often brought up on conference calls, and CP does makes more per guest than KI does... So to the bean counters at head office, 50000 people through the gate at CP is more money coming in than than 50000 through the gates at KI... Where it gets even more complicated is 'adding Ride A at Park B for cost C will increase attendance by D and profits by E' vs 'Ride F at park G for cost H will increase attendance by I and profits by J'... They're trying to get the bigger of the two E or J, but they're just trying to predict/guess/magic 8 ball which addition where will give it to them... They obviously have better data to go off than I do, and they still get it wrong... To me and my napkin math, a giga makes great sense and will for sure make money, but that isn't the question being asked by the decisions makers... The question being asked is how much money does it make compared to other options???
  7. Why are we called enthusiasts when we're anything but enthusiastic??? Stuff like "Tigris is lame someone should be fired" and "Behemoth sucks compared to Nitro they should just tear it down" has made me a lot more choosy on which enthusiast groups I spend my time in. And yes, I've seen both those takes in the last month.
  8. I'd rather be around GP that knows nothing and is just there to have fun, than a bunch of complaining enthusiasts for whom nothing ever seems to be good enough...
  9. Yes, it's why 'per cap spending' is always brought up those corporate conference calls... They make a lot from passholders up front with passes for parking/admission/photos/drinks/dining but they're hoping you still get a funnel cake, shop for some merch and play a game or 5... But how profitable is a repeat visit from someone who's money they've already gotten compared to someone who shows up at the front gate to buy a ticket and also spends on parking/merch/food/drinks/games/fastpass??? My point is that it's not just about attendance...
  10. Bodies through the front gate isn't the only metric that needs to be measured... If your attendance goes up from 50000 pass holders making an extra 2 trips from the year before how much does it add to the bottom line???
  11. Problem solved then!!! They can lay off a whole lot of people in planning and just throw money at the problem and everything will be peachy!!!
  12. Anyone coming up for a first rider event???
  13. If people aren't coming for their current lineup, adding a Giga isn't going to move the needle as much as you think it is...
  14. Need, no... I think the lineup is good without it... That said, I'm still looking forward to them getting one someday...
  15. I'm throwing my hat into the 2020 pile... I've got a June 2020 visit planned either way...
  16. Not unexpected... Still sad though... Volcano was a lot of fun to ride...
  17. ^^^ That is very good to know... Hoping I can fit in a trip to MiA someday to find out!!! While not top tier rides, I generally enjoy old Arrow coasters...
  18. Is it just me or do the restraints on Corkscrew seem smaller than other rides of it's type? Before it even moves I'm hurting... It's like the seat to shoulder distance isn't big enough and my spine is compressed from closing the restraints causing every bump to translate into back pain...
  19. I can save you the trip... Take a garbage can, turn it upside down and place it over your upper body... Now get a local little league team to bash on the outside of the can repeatedly... This is a pretty good approximation of Time Warp... I realize that it may be worth riding in a 'I have to see exactly how bad this is sort of way', but it's bad bad… On the bright side, it makes the neighbouring SLC seem not as bad...
  20. Time Warp at CW... It is absolutely as bad as people make it out to be... When it goes, I'm not thinking a lot of tears will be shed... And speaking of when it does go, any CW fanboy who says to rip it out and give it to Michigan's Adventure should have their passes revoked for life... Yes, this is an actual common suggestion in CW circles...
  21. Any word if this is going to be possible??? Wouldn't mind a wheel or brake plate or something...
  22. That started at least a few years ago from CW fanboys yelling 'we want/need an RMC' into the echo chamber until more people saw it and spread it... Person A says it on site X, Person B agrees with it, Person C chimes in, Person D sees it and regurgitates it on site Y, person E sees it on site Y, goes back to site X and says 'I saw it on site Y too! CoNfIrMeD!!!1!' and after enough repetitions , it goes from 'speculation/wishful thinking' to 'rumor'...
  23. Absolutely not...If you think your time/money is better spent going elsewhere, go eat there... With the way the lines at KI get sometimes, it may actually be faster to leave the park
  24. I'd like to see a Skyride, but I'm a fan of Skyrides in general... As to the pathing of it, I'm unsure, but for the overall concept, I approve...
