Anyhoo, back on topic. I would think that PKI could put in a larger Hypersonic XLC at PKI since now the technology has had the bugs worked out of it. See Dodonpa, located in Japan. You can find it at www.rcdb.com. Although, I would prefer something with length to it. Which brings me to my next point. Although I love the theming for the proposed Addams Family Vertical Drop coaster, it just doesn't do enough. PKI already has enough short coasters aka FOF, Face/Off. Now, they need a good, long, steel sit down type or a full circuit inverted coaster.

Catchy headline, isn't it? Indeed, The Bat does live at Paramount's Canada Wonderland. I was at the coasterbuzz web site and a pic of The Bat at PCW was on there. So, next I went to pki.com and clicked on the visit our other parks link at the bottom of the home page. From there, I went to PCW and sure enough, there is what sounds like a boomerang coaster named The Bat there. I didn't know that the name and logo was still being used by another Paramount Park. I always loved The Bat at PKI with The Bat trains and the cool logo for the sign. I would put a direct link to the site, but I have no idea how to do this. Can anyone help? I tried contacting one of the mods, but never received a response.

Let's be nice to the Newbies, please. Yes, they are going to ask a lot of the same questions. You can just point them in the right direction or to another thread with the same topic. I really hope that it is not a Verical Drop coaster. It simply doesn't do enough for me, and the ride would be too short. PKI really needs a steel coaster with some length to it, other than Vortex.

I would like to see Sevendust, Korn, Disturbed, Tool, Hatebreed. Probably more than those, but they would be whom I would like to see most.

Look, CP gets bugs every year. Do they second guess building a new ride because guests might be annoyed with them? Not hardly. Yes, cicadas are a problem, but think about it this way. Cicadas will return again some day and will be a problem again. There's not much you can do about it. Get over it.

FOF, great link. It's cool to see the Screamin' Demon and The Bat in their heydays! Unfortunately, the SD was relocated in my small local amusement park and they are too poor to fix it and get it working again. Good pic of the Zodiac. I wonder if there are specs out there about the Zodiac, like the height? I remember The Beast paw prints and I believe The Vortex had a similar path but was a robotic hand with coaster track in its grips. Coasterdime, you are absolutely correct, the attention and detail to the theming was much better then.

Yeah, I remember the skyline ride that went over the fountains. And, the Zodiac, man what a ride! I was terrified of riding that one. And, Flight Commander, I thought, was a cool ride. I like in that last picture of The Beast that had The Bat contained within it. But, someone said that they saw the Screamin' Demon. Where is it? Can't seem to find it. And, does anyone remember the German animated figures that were outside of one of the buildings over at Octoberfest? I think it was a male and female sitting down and eating. The male would lift and lower his glass to the table. Whomever said they miss Hong Kong Phooey, I am with you. One of my favorite cartoon characters.

I'm loving the sounds of the improvements that they are making for The Beast, no pun intended. I am most interested in seeing the video that shows the making of The Beast.

Never heard of that story, revengeofthesmurfs. Where did you read this? You may be referring to an event that happened years ago. Something about a guest sticking his hand into one of the ponds that had lights under the water. The light was unshielded or something and electocuted him. A security guard walking by tried to help and died saving the guest. Not too sure of the specifics though.

Yeah, MommaBeast, I remember all of those things. The Screamin' Demon was my first looper. I always thought it was Screamin' Demon first, but I could be wrong. Ok, I just checked rcdb and it apparently was the Demon first. Anyway, it was a blast! My first suspended coaster was The Bat. Did you get to ride that one, MommaBeast? I thought it was themed very well. I also used to love to ride the Rotor(this is the ride you were referring to that the floor dropped out), the Bavarian Beetle, Der Spinnin' Keggers, the Tumblebug, and I especially enjoyed the Bayern Curve. I always wanted in the car that had the US Flag on it. I do remember when The Racers was like a three hour wait. I was always scared to ride and my mom would bribe me with a dollar. I did ride the monorail as well. It was a nice way to get air conditioned. Another place to cool off was the Enchanted Voyage. My family went nearly every year early on and we would always get LaRosa's Pizza when we first got there. I guess that's why I still love that pizza to this day. We always strolled through the gift shops as we were leaving. Memories...

Good post. Made me laugh. I miss the HB characters. Yeah, I know some are still there, but many have gone.

The part of the story that is true is the fact that someone died climbing the Eiffel Tower when it was closed on I think it was graduation night or something like that. Whether his spirit still resides there is something I would have to see for myself, either in person, or in reliable pictures.

Canceling a date over PKI on TV? Must not have been really looking forward to that one(sarcasm).

Why would they sell four of their major coasters? Although, they are going with the traditional amusement park, this doesn't mean that no one will come for the coasters. It just means that it will be treated more like PKI and new coaster additions will just not come as often. Did PKI sell four of their major coasters when they decided to concentrate more on being a family park? Just because PKI is not in the coaster wars any more doesn't mean they won't build any more or get rid of the ones they have. And, I think that they will probably try to fix the problems that they have with the current collection of coasters before they ship them somewhere else.

The Screamin' Demon I'm sure had a few breakdowns, but did not break down alot. She could be thinking of The Bat. It was broken down quite a bit, but not Demon.

Camden Park is in my home town. As of 2004, Thunderbolt Express is SBNO. It will probably rust away. They do not have the money to fix it. I thought that the Screamin' Demon was pretty cool. It was the first looping coaster I ever rode. Ane, sending you through backwards blew my mind.

It's not arguing, it's disagreeing. I never said that PKI had gone on a coaster binge. CP did not really get into this habit until most recently. Yeah, I did forget KC, a classic indeed. If I'm wrong about the kids, then why did I see so many getting on these rides? I also never said anywhere in my thread that PKI built them back to back. You were just assuming. And you know what happens when you assume. And, CP has been around for many more years than PKI, so naturally they should have as many coasters as they do. I won't disagree with you on CP's kid's area either, even though that is not what I was referring to. KI is tops in kid's area. And, you have really not said anything that refuted what I stated before except maybe about the kids riding the big rides. You make it sound like that CP has been on a coaster binge since the beginning of their existence, which is simply not true.

Boobkinos, you couldn't be more wrong with your statements. PKI has been cutting edge with coasters nearly the whole time until recently. First, KI was credited with restarting the coaster age again with The Racers. Then, you have The Beast, which is the longest wooden coaster in the world. Next, you have Vortex, the first steel to do six inversions. The Bat, the first ever suspended coaster. FOF, one of the first LIM launched coasters. Face/Off, the first coaster where guests face each other. SOB, the tallest, fastest, and only looping woodie in the world. If you're going to post, you need to back it up. What is not new is PKI being a family park. Somehow, people think that they only recently started doing this. Let's not forget how long HB Land has been there and the overall variety of rides they have had over the years. I don't recall anyone stating that CP was better than PKI. And, Momma Beast is correct in saying more kids ride these scream machines. I've seen it first hand. I also couldn't disagree more with Geauga Lake will not be any good any more. Lest you forget that anything, ANYTHING, that CF seems to touch turns to gold. Why? Commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. I'm not saying that PKI is not committed to those things, just backing up my statements. And, the market for thrill rides is not as big as we think? I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. If the market is so small for these coasters, then why do parks keep on building them year after year. Why is it that designers are trying to come up with more and more variances on experiences for coasters? Because, the GP is demanding it. If the demand wasn't there, the process of introducing new technologies would be much slower. I like how a newbie posted and was correct from the start, as opposed to those that have been here awhile.

Yeah, Momma Beast, I probably would not have rode TTD or MF or SOB when I was that age. My mom had to bribe me with a dollar just to ride The Racers. Course, those days, you had a two hour or more wait for them. I also remember when The Beast opened. I never rode it the first two or three years it was open. Must have been itimidated by the name alone, becuase you really can't see it too well. I also had a huge lump in my throat the first time I rode Beast or Vortex. I always made the mistake of trying to hold my breath going down the big drop, which just made my heart leap into my throat. Sorry, kind of got off topic.

I went with my sister, brother-in-law, and niece to King's Island when my niece was first starting to ride coasters. We got her on Scooby's Ghoster Coaster, and Top Cat's Taxi Jam with no problems. We talked her into walking down the path to look at Top Gun. Well, as you know, you are in line pretty far before you can see everything. Anyway, at that point, we told her that it was too late to get out of line and now we had to ride it. She didn't really put up much of a fight and wound up loving it. Two years ago, she was riding the Hulk and last year was her first trip to CP and she rode everyting except TTD (it was closed).

I have to agree with you mommabeast. It's time for PKI to step it up before they are ate up by the competition. And, before anyone says it, I am a huge PKI fan and it is my home park. But, they will surely lose out with the direction that they are going. I son't think that closing the animal side will hurt them either. After this year, everyone will know that CF owns the former SFWOA and will get excited, like me, to see that they will do with it. Which will of course be, completely turn it around. In the next few years, I'm going to have to plan a trip whcih will involve both Geauga Lake and Cedar Point.

I just heard on a local radio station that they were giving away tickets for PKI for a special preview in April? Does anyone know what this is about? I am assuming Boomerang Bay, but who wants to visit a water park in April?

Opening the lower deck would be more expensive how?

Yeah, it is wooden, but it still can do damage to metal track as well as the wood.
