  1. Great start. Can’t wait to see (or rather hear) what comes next for this podcast!
  2. What system will it be released on? YouTube, iTunes, etc. If you ever need any history info, etc., feel free to contact me. I’d be glad to contribute stuff to the podcast.
  3. Hopefully they make a distinction between traveling carnival rides and amusement park rides, but based on the title I'm not counting on it.
  4. Yes to AZ (partially), Banshee, FoF, Firehawk and DA!. Bat and AE coexisted with Wild Animal Habitat (as it was called at that point) and The Beast is on the opposite side of the park from where it was.
  5. Most of the park's rides have black seats and feel fine. Beast. Mystic, etc.
  6. As far as McCann's past incidents, with the exception of the clawing, no reports were written and they were only brought up in the statements from the fellow rangers.
  7. I am going to Coasterstock for the first time! I just bought my ticket. Very excited!
  8. Thanks. Yes, I just double-checked and you are correct. Hope you find the article interesting and feel free to use the info/pictures on Sit On It.
  9. Flight Commander was a death trap waiting to happen. The same thing that happened to her would have happened sooner or later to a single rider that fainted, had a heart attack, etc. The root of the issue was with the restraints and how the manufacturers wanted all restraints in empty seats kept up, not that she was drunk.
  10. I’ve never done Coasterstock before; does anyone know if participants can bring guests?
  11. Hello everyone! My new blog post is up: a complete history of the King Cobra, the world's first true stand-up roller coaster. Enjoy! http://kingsislandghosts.blogspot.com/2018/01/stand-up-thrills-story-behind-worlds.html
  12. First of all, thank you for your kind words. I’m really glad everyone is enjoying these blog posts! In regards to your question...yes, it was open year-round. I can’t remember exact dates of the articles off the top of my head, but it was mentioned several times in the Cincinnati Enquirer in 1974. The International Restaurant was also open year-round.
  13. Arguably, 1972 Kings Island was themed to Cincinnati, with Coney Island, Oktoberfest, etc. Of course, it only stayed that way for two years before Lion Country Safari came.
  14. This is from Google Earth. The map from the Sheriff's Office puts Blazer Berm behind the lake in the center-right of this picture. So, the location today is a restricted area behind Banshee.

That includes: the investigation report by Col. Lynn Ertel, witness statements from Dick Fussner, Candace Walker, Dennie Acus, Pat Callahan and Terry Gressner, first-aid report from the July 4 clawing, autopsy and lab report on John McCann, memo sent to the sheriff from deputy Harold Metcalf, June and July safety memos, job description sheet for Lion Country Safari, maintenance report on jeep #5, notes from Col. Ertel, the July 30 press release, and all photographs taken by Col. Ertel, Clark Nolte, Coroner Ralph Young, Dick Fussner and the Hamilton County Coroner's Office. Whew!
  16. There certainly is a way; the problem is that I don’t know where the lion enclosure was located in present-day Kings Island.
  17. Thanks for reading the post. I mention the Kings Dominion Safari at the beginning of the post.
  18. What has the ODA learned from Fireball accident? http://nbc4i.com/2018/01/04/what-has-the-department-of-agriculture-learned-from-the-ohio-state-fair-ride-accident/
  19. Hello everyone. Here is my latest writing, this one about an often-forgotten tragedy on Lion Country Safari. Has a complete account of the incident and investigation with exclusive information with several rare photos. Hope you all find this interesting. https://kingsislandghost.blogspot.com/2022/01/the-untold-story-of-kings-islands-fatal.html
  20. There is a William E. Galeener buried with Nancy and Stephen. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/17484340/william-e-galeener
  21. Fascinating, @chuck norris. Missouri Jane was born in 1840, 20 years before Stephen was born. From what I could make out, her headstone reads: "IN Memory of MISSOURI JANE daughter of Stephen B. a. Nancy Galeener who departed this life March 10 1846 Aged 5 years 8 months a. 11 days."
