Last night, the fence had a Christmas-themed tarp wrapped around it. The ground was all dug up and a bunch of wooden fence posts(?) were lying on the ground.

Winterfest Then till Now - Opening Night Info
KIghostguy replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Very strange. I have attached a map of Winterfest ‘82 as well as another article that reported no rides would be operating. The Carousel did operate Winterfest ‘83-onward as did the Enchanted Voyage. -

Season 1 was just International Street and the Festahaus. -

There is a mistake—no rides were open during the original Winterfest in 1982. -
Apologies for the horrendous quality, but here is the best photo I could take from my upstairs window of the Eiffel Tower lit up!

With the impending closing of DA!, I thought a thread like this would be good. You can put memories, thoughts, videos, etc. of DA! Please DO NOT put speculation on what is going in the land on this thread. There are already two threads dedicated to that already.

The FoF building is not wired for heating.

These are the best photos of the platform I know of: https://www.KICentral.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=238 I also have photographs of the platform following the John Harter accident, but I won't release them for obvious reasons.

Was talking with someone I know who is a ride op on FoF. He told me that Antique Cars are making a return.

I was at Kings Island today and was talking with an employee at Coney Confectionary. According to her, Coney Confectionary, Coney Potato Works and Attitudes will be torn down and replaced with a smokehouse like the one at Soak City. I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but who knows? Attitudes was pretty bare today and I don't think it's that popular.

I have seen MANY guests with shirts like this with profanity, gore, etc. I have always wondered why Kings Island has no dress code prohibiting such clothes.
-
I checked through some newspaper articles I have that ran after "Black Sunday" talking about previous ride injuries and accidents at Kings Island. None of them mentioned anything about an accident on the Log Flume.
-
I haven't found anything about it, but my specialty in park history are the deaths and ghost stories. I'm sure @Shaggy or @TombraiderTy would know about it.

And maybe a book soon...

Fantastic photos! Thank you for sharing!

Instrumental music returns to International Street
KIghostguy replied to BeeastFarmer's topic in Kings Island
There's both orchastra and the European accordion/violin (?) music from what I could tell Friday. -
Personally, I've always thought that BLSC is a great "in the middle" ride. Not very tall, no big drops, no loops. It and Adventure Express were the only roller coasters in the entire park I would ride when I was 7 and 8.

International Street needs its own style as well. Nothing compliments the Royal Fountain and Eiffel Tower quite like pop music...
-
It looks like they're testing the Eiffel Tower elevator from what I can see from my backyard.

Should PKI bring back the Smurf Ride?
KIghostguy replied to TopThrillDragster's topic in Kings Island
The website is wrong on the opening date-the Smurf ride opened in 1984, not in 1982 like the website says, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. -
Interesting. I wonder why. It doesn't look like it had any stairs leading up to the bridge--maybe it was too narrow for wheelchairs/electric scooters?
-
It stayed after the deaths. See the 1992 video and the maps posted earlier.
-
Thanks! Very interesting. Now, the question is: why was it removed?
-
I think that that might be the 1987 picture I was talking about. I can't find the thread it was posted in, but it looked almost identical.
