  1. Although no one was ever killed on Son of Beast, there was a death related to preexisting health conditions. From the Dayton Daily News 7/2/2009: "[Ohio Department of Agriculture] determined the ride was functioning properly in the four other incidents involving injuries, including a death in 2007 that occurred a day after a man exited the ride complaining of pain. The department said that two of those four cases were the result of a pre-exisiting health condition."
  2. She was drunk and had gone limp (passed out). Same thing would have happened had someone fainted, had a heart attack, etc.
  3. Not sure about Kings Island...but when Banshee was added, tourism for Warren County jumped up 23%, usually it fluctuates between 4 and 5% annually. (Source: Mary Fessler of the Warren County Convention and Visitors Bureau; I interviewed her for an article I was writing on Mystic Timbers for my school newspaper.)
  4. 5 or so years ago, I did write to them and tell them that they should investigate KI. Never heard anything back, though.
  5. Not a coaster, but Flight Commander here at Kings Island was an Intamin. The death on it was caused by improperly designed restraints.
  6. Hello folks. This isn't the blog post I was teasing in the Random Discussion Thread, but I figured I hadn't written one of these in a while and it would be a few weeks until that one came out. In the meantime, here's an investigation (I guess) into the mysterious "Racer Boy." Enjoy! https://kingsislandghost.blogspot.com/2022/01/kings-islands-enigmatic-racer-boy.html
  7. At some point, an episode that covers the ghost stories of the park are a must.
  8. Great start. Can’t wait to see (or rather hear) what comes next for this podcast!
  9. What system will it be released on? YouTube, iTunes, etc. If you ever need any history info, etc., feel free to contact me. I’d be glad to contribute stuff to the podcast.
  10. Great! Really can’t wait for this.
  11. Hopefully they make a distinction between traveling carnival rides and amusement park rides, but based on the title I'm not counting on it.
  12. Yes to AZ (partially), Banshee, FoF, Firehawk and DA!. Bat and AE coexisted with Wild Animal Habitat (as it was called at that point) and The Beast is on the opposite side of the park from where it was.
  13. Most of the park's rides have black seats and feel fine. Beast. Mystic, etc.
  14. As far as McCann's past incidents, with the exception of the clawing, no reports were written and they were only brought up in the statements from the fellow rangers.
  15. I am going to Coasterstock for the first time! I just bought my ticket. Very excited!
  16. Thanks. Yes, I just double-checked and you are correct. Hope you find the article interesting and feel free to use the info/pictures on Sit On It.
  17. Thanks!
  18. Flight Commander was a death trap waiting to happen. The same thing that happened to her would have happened sooner or later to a single rider that fainted, had a heart attack, etc. The root of the issue was with the restraints and how the manufacturers wanted all restraints in empty seats kept up, not that she was drunk.
  19. Ok, thanks.
  20. I’ve never done Coasterstock before; does anyone know if participants can bring guests?
  21. Hello everyone! My new blog post is up: a complete history of the King Cobra, the world's first true stand-up roller coaster. Enjoy! http://kingsislandghosts.blogspot.com/2018/01/stand-up-thrills-story-behind-worlds.html
  22. First of all, thank you for your kind words. I’m really glad everyone is enjoying these blog posts! In regards to your question...yes, it was open year-round. I can’t remember exact dates of the articles off the top of my head, but it was mentioned several times in the Cincinnati Enquirer in 1974. The International Restaurant was also open year-round.
  23. Arguably, 1972 Kings Island was themed to Cincinnati, with Coney Island, Oktoberfest, etc. Of course, it only stayed that way for two years before Lion Country Safari came.
  24. This is from Google Earth. The map from the Sheriff's Office puts Blazer Berm behind the lake in the center-right of this picture. So, the location today is a restricted area behind Banshee.
