The FoF building is not wired for heating.

These are the best photos of the platform I know of: https://www.KICentral.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=238 I also have photographs of the platform following the John Harter accident, but I won't release them for obvious reasons.
-
Was talking with someone I know who is a ride op on FoF. He told me that Antique Cars are making a return.
-
I was at Kings Island today and was talking with an employee at Coney Confectionary. According to her, Coney Confectionary, Coney Potato Works and Attitudes will be torn down and replaced with a smokehouse like the one at Soak City. I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but who knows? Attitudes was pretty bare today and I don't think it's that popular.
-
I have seen MANY guests with shirts like this with profanity, gore, etc. I have always wondered why Kings Island has no dress code prohibiting such clothes.
-
I checked through some newspaper articles I have that ran after "Black Sunday" talking about previous ride injuries and accidents at Kings Island. None of them mentioned anything about an accident on the Log Flume.
-
I haven't found anything about it, but my specialty in park history are the deaths and ghost stories. I'm sure @Shaggy or @TombraiderTy would know about it.

And maybe a book soon...

Fantastic photos! Thank you for sharing!

Instrumental music returns to International Street
KIghostguy replied to BeeastFarmer's topic in Kings Island
There's both orchastra and the European accordion/violin (?) music from what I could tell Friday. -
Personally, I've always thought that BLSC is a great "in the middle" ride. Not very tall, no big drops, no loops. It and Adventure Express were the only roller coasters in the entire park I would ride when I was 7 and 8.
-
International Street needs its own style as well. Nothing compliments the Royal Fountain and Eiffel Tower quite like pop music...
-
It looks like they're testing the Eiffel Tower elevator from what I can see from my backyard.

Should PKI bring back the Smurf Ride?
KIghostguy replied to TopThrillDragster's topic in Kings Island
The website is wrong on the opening date-the Smurf ride opened in 1984, not in 1982 like the website says, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. -
Interesting. I wonder why. It doesn't look like it had any stairs leading up to the bridge--maybe it was too narrow for wheelchairs/electric scooters?
-
It stayed after the deaths. See the 1992 video and the maps posted earlier.
-
Thanks! Very interesting. Now, the question is: why was it removed?
-
I think that that might be the 1987 picture I was talking about. I can't find the thread it was posted in, but it looked almost identical.
-
Thanks, but I'm not talking about the deck. I'm talking about the actual bridge that spanned from the main pathway across the pond to the Bier Garten. It was in place from 198?-199?
-
Yup, that's the bridge. Do you know when this photo was taken?
-
Hi folks! This is something that I've been wondering about for a while. If you look back through old photos of Kings Island, you'll notice a bridge that spans across the pond in Oktoberfest. This bridge isn't in any photos of the pond in the 1970's. It also isn't on my 1983 souvenir map, which otherwise has all the paths and bridges on it. The earliest photo I've seen that the bridge is in is dated 1987. I used to think it was removed because of the Black Sunday incidents. (Timothy Binning and William Haithcoat fell into the pond from the bridge.) But it looks like just the bottom of it is in this 1992 video at 3:58-4:00: I think it's also in the 20th Anniversary Special as well, but right now I'm way too lazy to look back through the whole thing. The earliest photo I've seen without the bridge is from 1998. Does anybody know when the bridge was added, when it was removed, and why it was removed?

Should PKI bring back the Smurf Ride?
KIghostguy replied to TopThrillDragster's topic in Kings Island
It was a boat ride in the same building that Boo Blasters is now. It showed the Smurfs celebrating the seasons. It opened in 1984 and closed after the 1991 season. -
Sit On it - A nostalgic look back at KI...
KIghostguy replied to Shaggy's topic in Kings Island History
The Cincinnati Post says that Xtreme Skyflyer (then called Drop Zone) opened either May 31 or June 1, 1995. -
I was there a month or so ago and can confirm it's still there.

1. Riding Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle for the first time. I first started going to Kings Island when I was obsessed with Scooby Doo, so it was my favorite ride. (I rode Fairly Odd Parents the same day and cried--I didn't go on roller coasters until three or four years after that!) I actually cried when the newspaper ran the announcement that they were replacing it and even wrote a letter to Kings Island management about it! 2. It will forever be The Beast. 3. Hmm...that's a tough one! Probably either Coney Mall or Rivertown. 4. Phantom Theater. 5. Mystic Timbers!! I have been hoping for a new wooden coaster for a while, so I was extremely excited when they first announced it. I can't wait for Preview Night--hopefully the crowd for Mystic Timbers will be somewhat less than regular Opening Day crowds.
