Beast1979
Ha ha ha! Epic Bump! I heard a new a roller coaster is going to be in rivertown on the lake in 2008 Close, try 2009 The only problem I have with that rumor is that there really is no room to do anything good with a coaster at that location. I dont even know if there is enough room to build a station unless you tear down Wings. I dont think that would be a good decision at all. Uhh, not really! Go B&M and their Ingenius design! I think it be cool if they dropped Wings and utilized the former old time photo and rivertown mining company buildings that were used for fearfest last year to create some kind of western themed coaster in that area and really give Rivertown a western feel again. I really wish they still had the water running on Beast still on the old gold sleuth. Sorta, Keep Wings and your spot on. I don't think KI will be getting ANY coasters in the next two years. We'll likely see some BB expansions and maybe a flat ride or two. I doubt there will be any new coasters until the 2010 season at the earliest. Not really! Like other posters have said, there is no room to put a decent coaster here. Uhh, NO! Like other posters have said, there is no room to put a decent coaster here. Or course there's room. Trust me, there's plenty of developmental land (or real estate as KI Execs call it) in Rivertown. I personally think Rivertown is RIPE for a new coaster. Imagine something along the lines of a Maverick themed coaster... makes total sense. Now WHEN we may see it is another subject altogether. Go Shaggy! Once more I'll bring up my Accellorator/Maverick style theory. Those empty buildings near wings can be used for a station/queu etc. The trees inbetween that and the lake would be launch/brakes, and the actual ride would go around the lake. The Maverick style coaster wouldn't be near as exciting! While not impossible, I highly doubt a new coaster is in the plans for the next 2 to 3 years. I would also hope that it would not go over the lake. There are many other areas where a coaster could go that would not take away from an area that is still soft on the eyes. Tough nuts, your getting a hyper and your gonna like it!
Colonel_SoB_fan
^ Actually they demolished some of those buildings Gordon talked about so neither of you are "Spot On", but I give you credit I do like to revisit these old rumor threads, if only we still had that Rumor Coaster for 2009 thread, I miss that thread. kings_island~thrill is me!
I heard a new a roller coaster is going to be in rivertown on the lake in 2008 I've known since opening day last year that a B&M was going into to swan lake...well i kinda noticed back in 05' that they were draining the lake
The Interpreter
Good heavens. First of all, they weren't draining the lake, that's called a drought. Second, Cedar Fair didn't even own the park until June 30, 2006. It is the company's story that they and they alone decided to build this coaster. Are you claiming CBS began planning for it and even started draining the lake (for heaven knows what reason) before they sold the parks?
Guest TombraiderTy
Good heavens. First of all, they weren't draining the lake, that's called a drought. I do miss Swan Lake though. Very peaceful area within the park. Very sad, although I don't mind its replacement
Raptor66
How about a coaster located between The Beast and TR:TR that extends south towards Boomerang Bay? Something like Maverick there would be amazing. Looks like I was right after all! Well, at least about the location... Sort of...
CoastersRZ
Not to mention that Swan Lake was home to a synchronized light show for WinterFest in December of 2005. And the barge that held many of the Christmas trees remained in the back corner of the lake through the 2006 season and part of the 2007 season before being removed. The lake was not drained until after the 2007 season had concluded.

Beast Man
If KI did actually did remove Flight of Fear(which I doubt they would) it would be one the worst park decision ever. The removal of Flight of Fear was planned by CBS before they sold the park.It was planned to move it to Carowinds and re-theme it as a music themed coaster.Cedar Fair has no plans to remove it at this time. The Interpreter
And, as stated earlier in this thread, CBS had actually closed Kings Dominion's Flight of Fear in preparation for its move, something Cedar Fair rapidly reversed.
LongliveKingsCobra
...cough cough They try to hard to be like Disney, which also has A roller coaster themed to music, but can not remember what the name of it is....cough..cough,.... Well Im glad they did not get rid of it, its such a fun ride! ~~After reading the last page~~ wow. in 2005 KI was still chillaxin with P, and that was one of the most signifigant(sp?) drought in the last 10 years, so....ya due to the Water cycle, evaperation makes water well....(ahahaah Terpys wisdom is about to be unfolded) evaperate! LongliveKingsCobra
what rides would they rotate? I mean does that not cost alota money to do? And what other parks are willing to say, Hey, we'll knock down this ride, and you give us this ride instead? Unless thats nothing like how it goes in that case, anything goes! : D
The Interpreter
Cedar Fair would make those decisions, with input from the park managers. Stay tuned.

Didn't you say that Cedar Fair believes there are two ways to do things, the Cedar Fair way and the wrong way? Yes, I did...but since they are now staring the debt they have in the face, they are re-visiting many things. I, like others, don't think there is much money to be saved in moving rides. Paramount, for example, claimed it was only about $500,000 cheaper to move Stealth from PGA to Carowinds as Borg: The Assimilator than to buy a new one. As for the Six Flags model, that was the OLD Six Flags....the new one can't really afford such major moves presently.

Speaking of the new Six Flags...Terpy, can you re-count the 'story' in more detail about Shapiro walking up to a large steel coaster's support, knocking on it with the back of his knuckle, and after the loud "GONG!!!" sound saying something to the effect of "Well, there's $20 million dollars we'll never see again/get back!"
