October 6, 200718 yr I like Drop Zone MUCH better then Demon Drop. me too, but with demon drop you get something you normally don't get on a drop ride. and by that i mean finishing out on you back
October 15, 200718 yr ^You're right... Because it's going in MY BACK YARD! Yep, I bought it myself. If anyone wants to ride, I'll only charge $3 per ride, or $15 for an all day pass! *please don't take this seriously haha*

October 22, 200718 yr I was on the train at Cedar Point on Saturday and my fiancee was like, "Does Cedar Point have any more room to build anything new?" Then this lady sitting across from us said, "They're shipping Demon Drop to Kings Island and building a new coaster there that goes out over the water." I was like, "Huh?" And she said she knew someone who knows someone who works at the park. She said they won't be building that coaster for like 2 years, but it's coming. So yeah. Demon Drop is coming to KI. The lady from the train who knows a guy who knows a guy told me so.
October 22, 200718 yr Yeah, right. And they are just staging Dominator at Kings Dominion because it is going to Carowinds, right?
October 22, 200718 yr Of course they are, just as KI was a staging area for X flight before it went to Michigan's Adventure.
October 22, 200718 yr Of course they are, just as KI was a staging area for X flight before it went to Michigan's Adventure. Wait we didnt get X-Flight? What the heck did we get then? It sure as hell doesnt look like a Zamperla Flyer.
October 23, 200718 yr ^ O.K. When was the last time a coaster was STAGED at a theme park? When X-Flight came to KI, thats when!
October 23, 200718 yr Actually there is only one person who knows what is going to happen...... The Dipping Dots Boy.
October 24, 200718 yr Actually there is only one person who knows what is going to happen...... The Dipping Dots Boy. Absolutely! I only trust news from the Dippin Dots boy!
October 24, 200718 yr Actually there is only one person who knows what is going to happen...... The Dipping Dots Boy. I'm going to disagree, I only agree with info from the lemonade/snow cones/popcorn dude
October 24, 200718 yr Then this lady sitting across from us said, "They're shipping Demon Drop to Kings Island and building a new coaster there that goes out over the water." It is funny on how people will believe that building a coaster over the shores of Lake Erie, specifically over the water, is no big deal. In the summer, it would be fun, chilly until mid June, but still fun. But what some seem to forget is that Lake Erie winters are very harsh. Ice dunes can accumulate in excess of 15'. That is a tremendous amount of force to push water that high. But once the shoreline freezes, that is where the real force comes in. The ice that would surround each footer would most likely destroy the coaster. And yes, they could make the footers large & beefy enough to possibly withstand the winter forces, but now imagine the cost? I will never say never, but I would certainly be shocked if CP would do anything like that.
October 24, 200718 yr Errr. They are technically called footings, not footers! I would tend to agree that it is not likely that Cedar Point will likely not build over Lake Erie waters. Mostly because they likely do not own the land over which the water sits. Their land probably covers the beaches that they have, but does not extend too terribly far into the lake waters.
October 24, 200718 yr Errr. They are technically called footings, not footers! My bad! And you are absoutely correct about how much land CP owns into the lake. That is why I mentioned the ice dunes. They form right along the shoreline.
October 24, 200718 yr Well apparently there are some that seem to have the terminology wrong: Fun Fact: This is the world’s tallest (310 feet) and fastest (92 mph) rollercoaster, and is supported by 226 footers using 9,400 yards of concrete. http://www.sinc.stonybrook.edu/Stu/hnaseer/aboutme.htm
October 24, 200718 yr Not to mention that Cedar Fair would have to get certain permits to be able to build footings in Lake Erie.
October 24, 200718 yr Why don't we all agree just to call them footies. Anyhoo, I agree that CP most likely won't be building into the lake. I seriously doubt that Demon Drop is coming to Kings Island. Obviously, CF is not interested in re-locating DD to any of their parks, otherwise, it would already be done. Is it true that the maintenance is a nightmare on the first generation freefalls?
October 24, 200718 yr Apparently they are a prety bad maintenace strain. CP wants to get rid of theirs, GL canned theirs (back when there was a GL), and SFGADV got rid of theirs last season.
October 24, 200718 yr I can confirm that I believe that Cedar Point will not be building on the lake in the near future!
October 25, 200718 yr Demon Drop is only 131 ft... That's less than half of Drop Zone! What's so good about DD?
