Everyone of you are thinking wrong. Just because an amusement park comes out with a new coaster, it doesn't have to be bigger or badder. I would just consider maybe another hypercoaster or maybe bring back something like King Cobra (the stand up coaster). It doesn't HAVE to be something big. I don't even really think an "adult" Avatar ride would be great at all. I would just like the fact that KI would have more roller coasters! They could even make a new wooden coaster if they wanted too.

I'm hoping for a new section maybe 5 years from now, with several flat rides and a stand up coaster.

Now what would be cool would be a Wood coaster like Invertigo, where it brings you up then drops you. I would be SWEET

Looping wooden coasters Don't work out to well.

It dosen't need to loop, just take you up, get some air time, and bring you back.

What is with everyone wanting KI to get an Intiman.

Intiman? I`ve never heard of that company before. I have heard of the Intiman Theatre in Seattle, WA. Now I have heard of Intamin, the company that has made several rides at Kings Island (although none of them roller coasters).

I just had to.

How exactly would a suspended wooden coaster work?

It doesn't work it's impossible.

There s a company that makes it... or at least... wants to make one.

They have renderings of it. I'll try and find the website and get back to you on that.

I really do not see the appeal of a suspended coaster made out of wood. Not to mention the fact that the increased initial cost and ongoing maintenance costs would lend themselves to a park wanting to build one of these rides. Not to mention that that company does not have a very long track record. I mean, have they actually built and installed a ride at a park yet?

Going to. And I stand by my earlier statement. They do not have a long and proven track record. Its not like B&M, Intamin, or even GCI that have all been around for a while. Parks know that these companies offer excellent products and they have the track record and engineering expertise to stand behind their products and trouble shoot them if and when necessary.

You are very correct sir. But they all started with no track record.

That's why you will never see a inverted wooden coaster. :)

Well kind of. B&M before they went out on their own actually worked for Intamin I believe (feel free to correct me if I`m wrong). And some of the people from GCI worked at CCI as well. So while these new companies might not have had a track record, the people were experienced with their products and the industry. Now I`m not saying that this new company does not have people that have not been in the industry before. But what I am saying is there is a difference between designing a wooden coaster and designing a new type of wooden coaster. That extra element adds another level of complexity to the project which can dissuade parks from purchasing said product from an unproven company.

Case in point, look at the issues that Intamin has had with their hydraulically launched coasters, a la Top Thrill Dragster. If Intamin was an unproven company that Cedar Fair had not done prior business with do you think they would have even approached Intamin for that ride? Or gone back to them for Maverick?

Or wooden structures shouldn't excide the 200' mark. Wood is not meant to withstand those kind of forces. I totally hear you CoastersRZ. I highly doubt seeing this type of coaster on the market any time soon.

I agree with you wooden structures should not be taller then 200 feet.

Soon? I hope those type of coasters never go on the market.

You know Kings Island actually has a pretty good history with Intamin Rides. If I remember correctly, current and past Intamin rides at KI include:

Drop Zone (Tower)

The Eiffel Tower

White Water Canyon

Flight Commander

The Zodiac

Der Spinning Keggers

And I'm not sure, but I have also heard that Viking Fury was an Intamin model.

Fun Fact! Intamin stands for

INT-ernational

AM-usement

IN-dusty

Int-am-in :)
