The Interpreter Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 You would prefer the nose of an airline pilot?
KIFAN! Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 IMO I don't think its tacky at all. If you think theming is tacky than you must really thin FOF is a toltal cheese bowl. Or spaghetti bowl LOL. Seriously I think its cool. It look like a snake slithering fast along the track
The Interpreter Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 ^ What he said! In reality, I think theming it after an airline pilot's nose would be snotty.

kittenpooh Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I noticed the lights are not on, on the lift tonight.... I wonder why..
HTCO Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Gotta save all them nickles and dimes! Knowing the economy now.. that's a safe bet even Diamondback can't buy!
Zorba Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 "If they are planning to do a pull through, they don't have a crane large enough to do it. Clifford was the only one that would have been tall enough, and that's been gone for weeks. I vote for the no pull through on this ride." Certain B&Ms also utilize a "ball" contraption that can slowly crawl the track. Batman Knight Flight at SFO, ummm SFWOA, errrr GL, came with it's own. Here's a link to a pic of it being used when the coaster was re-located to Kings Dominion: http://www.kdfansite.com/gallery/displayim...bum=3&pos=5 I believe B&M also has one that has been used to test parameters on several different installs. I've also seen them use a makeshift "car" complete with plywood shells that that run through "tight" areas. Shaggy The Sliver Bullet at Knott's Berry Farm also had a ball thing hanging out in the train storage area. I didn't get a picture of it because I could only see it when I was on the ride .
Monroe Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 ^ What he said! In reality, I think theming it after an airline pilot's nose would be snotty. I think we should start picking this thread apart and clear things up so we all can breath a sigh of relief. (I can't believe that it is 12:40 and no one picked up on this.)
sheikra_rocks Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 If we are going to talk about "tacky", let's talk about the building that The Crypt is in. I think it is great that KI is getting another "THEMED" ride. Last really theme ride we got was Stunt Track.

Yeah, we really don't want to see current management fal fas t.

RailRider Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I wonder if the pilot nose could also be referred to as a "Sully" seeing as how the train will make a water landing?
XGatorHead 8904 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 ^Sully was the pilot of the plane that safely landed in the Hudson River in January. See: http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=6834954&page=1
jlarimore Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Could be some possible clearance testing starting as there is a single lead car on the main line now.
RailRider Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I wonder the same thing or they are going to check the systems in the station
sheikra_rocks Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 They did that with montu, put the first two cars on to make sure everything lined up in the station and on the lift.
tigellinus Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Btw, to me, it looks like some new webcam views have been added, and they're pretty sweet if so!
IndyGuy4KI Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I am curious about what they are doing with that single car on the track next to maintenace shead? It has moved around serveral times?
sheikra_rocks Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 They are pulling it back, perhaps they are going to test the clearance in the pool.
jlarimore Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 It could be as simple as checking alignment of brakes on the brake run. They could be testing proximity sensors also.
IndyGuy4KI Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 It could be as simple as checking alignment of brakes on the brake run. They could be testing proximity sensors also. There are so many possibilities, and all just as feasible at the next.
Jaredap88 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 is it just me or is the web cam not working? edit: nevermind
RailRider Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Looking at the webcam the single car is no longer in sight. Looks as if it has been moved inside the station.
KIFAN! Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Urg I only have my itouch rite now and it doesn't let me see the webcam
Ohiocoasterman Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Here is an image of the web cam for you I hope that helps and the car is back out
flightoffear1996 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I wonder if they are configuring the breaks so it knows how hard to grab the train.
RailRider Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 That, proximity sensors, allignment, kicker wheels, any number of things that deal with the brake run, transfer track and station
