I think that either you or that particular employee is "yanking someone's chain." I would call it highly unlikely, since that could give us a coaster in two years, which is possible. But with the economy, I just don't know. Also, I dobt a regular employee would know such information, especially this early.

But as soon as you write it off, you become like those that discredited the rumor of a possible coaster in rivertown two years ago. I would say that it is a possibility. Parks usually do a lot of work before contacting designers and manufacturers so this could be a couple years away. I could easily see a new wooden coaster back there due to their usually low price compared to steel. Possibly something for the family to draw more people back there in preparation for future expansion. However, I think it would be really cool to add a new coaster starting where the go-kart track is, traveling over the old King Cobra site, the midway, the oktoberfest lake, and the old Paramount Story site. Just my opinion though.

That area cries out for restrooms, much as the area near Steel Force did at Dorney Park...and it got them!

That reminds me, last year I got "lost" looking for the bathroom after getting off FOF. It took me more than 15 minutes to find it, even after asking a park employee.

When I finally found it I realized I had walked right by it 4 times.

It sounds like that "employee" does not care about working at Kings Island or following the rules. That employee sure is not in the food chain when it comes to knowing about future plans and if employee was, they sure will not be spreading rumours or disclosing confidential plans.

As for building a new coaster, I could see it if it was 10 years ago or so. Back then, parks were tripping over themselves when it came to building the longest, tallest, fastest, body crunching coasters but times has changed. They costs several million dollars each and with the economic changes we now face, the return on investment might not be worth it. The parks might find these mega coasters just might not cause an increase in attendence as in the past.

I expect a third Coaster Wars when the economy is better. The Racer started the second, right?

Or is it Golden Age?...

Anyway, I predict that it will either start at KI or CP.

The Racer started the Golden Age of coasters.

With the FH capacity they really do need restrooms back there. I always like to go before getting into that queue, but it takes some planning ahead to remember to do so before you get to X-base, or take the hike if already back there.

Maybe they can add a restroom with the contingency money for this "rumored" new ride.

Ummm. No. It arguably started a second Golden Age, but before World War II, many, many truly splendid coasters were built, many of which were lost during the Great Depression, World War II or during the Fifties and Sixties. In fact, one reason that Walt Disney built Disneyland was because amusement parks had become known as tawdry, hoodlum infested places where nice people didn't go...and because attendance was down, many, many once fine parks closed.

Is that Pedro from South of the Border?

Indeed it is!

LOL!!!

Why is it that when they build a vekoma flyer they make ABSOLUTELY certain to place it so far off the beaten path that you have to hike more than a mile to get to the nearest restroom? Once after riding batwing my friend had to go REALLY BAD seeing as we'd been in the line for a good 2 hours & several breakdowns before we finally got on & he had to hike all the way back up by JJ just to "take care" of business. He could barely walk that far because his muscles were actually sore from having to hold it that long.

As for adding new rides back there I think a flat that fits the theme(like CF really themes their rides) would go nicely back there along with some shops or something....remember not everyone comes to the park to ride just the coasters so adding a flat would give people who won't ride the two coasters there a reason to patronize that area of the park.

^ You really never know. by 2012,we could have a new coaster back their.(Well, thats if they are taking 3 years to plan and build.)

The Economy Has Really no effect on the park they still get the same income as normal and probably more this year with DB, and if they build a new coaster bigger and faster than DB then even more people will come to the park.

To end it they have plenty of money and plenty of land.

You never know x-base could become it's own section.I really think they will do something like Top Thrill Dragster because x-base seems like a off limits goverment area and something tall and fast would be perfect for that they could theme like Flight of Fear.

So are you saying you would like a TTD installed. I've never ridden one and I would love to, but they have their 'issues.' Also, I really don't see CF installing another TTD type of ride for a while.

I wouldn't go that far and say they (I assume you mean CF) has plenty of money. They have a huge debt that they are currently working to pay back. Yeah KI has plenty of land, but definitely not plenty of money.

The coaster wars, in the sense of build it bigger, are pretty much over. It was proved that big giant coasters didnt necessarily translate into an uptick in revenue. The trend now is to build more innovative, but slightly less bigger coasters like Maverick, Manta and Diamondback. I would venture to say that while a lot of people on this site love TTD, its only about a 30 second ride. Diamondback, while not nearly as tall, provides many more thrills, IMO.
