Gigacoaster2k, Tom76257, Rotag1299, pkiruler102 and his friend, and myself were all heading back to ride Flight Deck when we saw the most amazing sight we'd ever seen! In the small pond near the first drop there was one of the large bouncy balls that guests win as prizes and insist on terrorizing the midways with. Everyone coaxed me into taking a picture and sharing it with the rest of you all because we know how much you enjoy these balls :)

Edit: Sorry for crappy quality, my camera was zoomed in as far as it would go because that pond is a good distance from the queue.

I saw that last week and thought 'I know many people who will enjoy that' There were also a couple of normal sized basketballs in the ravine area under FD

the prize should be a flat ball. they can pump them up at home.

Amen to that! Nothing drives me battier that someone bouncing one of those balls, especially in The Beast station!

I don't understand why the basketballs get on everyone's nerves so badly. I have never encountered anyone with one in line, just people bouncing them while walking down the paths. Doesn't bother me at all. It's a theme park. People are loud and annoying. It happens.

It's bad when you are walking down a path, and a kid loses one and either trips you up running in front of you after it...or you almost trip on the ball. It's not so much the bouncing, it's the behavior of the bouncer.

Ok, I think I am the only person that has a use for the basketballs. My 10 year old son generally wins 1 or 2 for his first 5 bucks (he has won every single ball they have at KI and surprisingly I havent spent what you would think) and he practices his dribbling all day (and not in the cues, that IS a rule). That is impossible to get him to do at home! lol. Now he is in no way a cumsey dribbler and generally doesnt ever loose his ball. However this is one of his favorite things to do in the park and I find it facinating to watch a kid win 4 or 5 balls for 10 bucks. :) Just thought I'd throw my two pennies for perspective. Happy dribbling.

Actually that ball in the pic is not bouncy at all, but is as soft as a pillow

earlyier in the season i saw a kid bouncing one of that stature, it even just barley made that wwhhoommpp sound like when you kick a kickball.

Wrong.

It's a large inflated rubber ball; with a thin sheet of cheap fur over it. You bounce them.

Can't tell you HOW many times I've had kids bouncing balls in the station at Diamondback and the ball gets loose and almost goes into the track. GRR.

especially in The Beast station!

Wow, that could be a safety issue... just imagine when one bounces right into the track!

Yeah, I don't see how those things have not caused an issue yet. The older stations with wood floors are the most annoying for those balls. The whole station vibrates with one of those things bouncing.

Since Terpy documented it was Ohio law to follow ride op directions, I would ask that they announce no bouncing of balls. Especially if KI is going to continue to give them out inflated.

Sometimes basket balls cause minor issues. people may be dribbling in line or when thry are walking and it rolls in front of you. Last month while in line for The Beast, a kid in the kiddie corral stood on his tip-toes and dropped a basketball in the track while a train was pulling in. the ride ops hit the e-brake and one person went to grab it but they let it roll through the tracks. people on the train were like having panic attacks and freaking out. idk why though

I was in line for DB with my freinds and someone at the top of the steps waqs passing it back and forth and they missed and the bal came down the steps and hit me in the face.

they'll be dribbled in the park until the frivilous lawsuit. it is too bad that's what it takes in america to get things done.

then we will have another topic on here about silly lawsuits in amusement parks and other public places.
