RingMaster
It's too bad the ride carriage to The Windy Seeker isn't similar to Zephyr to where it bobs up and down and the swings ascend higher than when it's simply just spinning at a fixed angle (like it already is). It would essentially be a 301-foot-tall Zephyr, in layman's terms, or what most people (including me) had originally pegged The Windy Seeker to be when it was first announced. But it would be one wicked experience. Not to say that it won't be a wicked experience as it stands now. Just saying...
CoastersRZ
I think the extreme heights to which WindSeeker will soar will more than make up for the lack of undulations in swing movement. You will be pretty high up in the air and moving at a pretty good clip. I know I`m looking forward to the ride. It will also be nice to see exactly what kind of lighting package they have on the ride. I think it will definitely be a fun ride to ride at night because of the lights, and being able to see Coney Mall all lit up. I`m also excited about seeing the park from a new perspective. skaterboy22101
All I'm saying is that it looks like a cool ride, and seems fun, but I'm still not riding it. I get really nauseous on spinning rides, and spinning 301 feet in the air is just TOO much.

That's why those images stop working after a short period of time. The best you can do is embed a thumbnail, using the "Put this photo on your website" code that they give you, like this: <a href="http://twitpic.com/4ns37q" title="PHOTO: Work has begun on building the queue for the new 301'... on Twitpic"><img src="http://twitpic.com/show/thumb/4ns37q.jpg" width="150" height="150" alt="PHOTO: Work has begun on building the queue for the new 301'... on Twitpic"></a>

If it wasnt such a spin and puke, I would love to ride it.
Flat Freak
I don't like spinning rides either, but I don't consider 8 revolutions per minute "spinning." More like "rotating." For example, Delirium's rotation looks intimidating from the ground, but the sensation you get on the ride is not of spinning, but of swinging. On WindSeeker, rotating eight times per minute over such a large diameter circle, I don't think it will feel like spinning in place at all, rather a constant high-speed turn like some sort of bizarro world Nascar 301 feet in the air. Aaron88stang
I normally try to avoid spin and puke stuff myself, but I am going to give this a try. It may turn out to be only onetime, but at least I will get to see what it is like.
rotag
the way it looks now, reminds me of a spider with shoes on every leg.

Watch Delerium carefully when it gets up there. The revs slow down which is why I can ride it as well. Yep agree this looks like a spin and puke at 300 feet. Jasper
After seeing the seats on the ride it makes me want to ride it that much more. I am ready to be 301 feet in the air in those seats, bring on opening day. 7 days 21 hours!!!
SOB_TOM
Actually Mike, that is a trick of the imagination. The RPMs never rev down during the ride cycle, it is a trick of the eye when you lose a point of reference in the background. The RPMs never change, just the look does. markhudson17
Does anyone know how" Big Person Friendly" these seats on WindSeeker are going to be. I'm a bigger guy, and I'm a little worried about it. I was able to fit on everything last year no problem.
Oldschool75
Starting to think WS will not be open for opening day. With only 7 days until opening, the ride is still incomplete. Doesn't really leave time for proper testing. If I remember correctly DB was done a month before opening and was testing. Maybe I worry too much. Lol

The height, spin, angle, views, etc... are plenty for me! Starting to think WS will not be open for opening day. With only 7 days until opening, the ride is still incomplete. Doesn't really leave time for proper testing. If I remember correctly DB was done a month before opening and was testing. Maybe I worry too much. Lol A ride like DB has many more mechanisms to test than WindSeeker, not that I know what those are but you can count moving parts and sensors and get an idea. I'm not worried yet. I do think about things like prototypes, water rides, Cedar Fair, etc... As a fan of Maverick and I305 though, I don;t mind too much when it takes them a couple tries to get it right. They aren't just pushing the envelope, they're destroying it!
KIfan73
It is hard to imagine seeing people riding this thing a week from today when you glance at the WS webcam.
Creed Bratton
I am not worrying about it opening on time. They have people around the clock working on this to ensure that it opens on time. My guess is by the end of the day today they will have the remaining arms and seats up and start testing Monday. If not today (for the arms) they'll have them up on Monday and test starting Tuesday and will continue to test until the State comes in and approves. TheSnapper
That is interesting! I never thought about that.... that makes perfect sense about WindSeeker!
Creed Bratton
I guess the only thing I'm worrying about is how much face time the ride ops will have to learn all of the operation protocol.
TheSnapper
Not much at all... This will be interesting, to train and get the ops use to the ride... And don't forget that Maint crews have to learn how to operate the ride first too! Crunch time and IDK if they will get the ride open in time!
Creed Bratton
Maintenance I'm sure already know how to operate the ride....with them testing for rotation and what not. I'm sure they've already worked with the restraints and any of the controls in the drive box. I'm guessing that opening day operations will be ran by Area Supervisors, Managers, etc. while training seasonal ops. It'll be a smooth transition I bet. Jasper
I have the utmost faith in the crew working on this ride that it will indeed be up and ready to go by opening day. You would think that if the ride was not going to be ready that the park would have already stated on it's Facebook, Blog, and through it's Twitter account that the ride will indeed not be open. No such thing has been said yet, to my knowledge at least.
kjkjkj
They might work tomorrow too. So testing could even start tomorrow if they get all the arms done today.

Diamondback FOF
I would normally think it'd be no problem getting it open on time. However, we are supposed to have rain everyday until next Thursday morning...
CoastersRZ
Well, one thing is for certain, this weather can`t be aiding their effot! It has been such rainy miserable weather this spring! I know down at Coney, the rains are causing havoc. Cirque du Soleil has canceled shows today for the second day in a row due to flooding. And we had to cancel ride training session this morning and for Monday evening because of flooding as a result of the ridiculous amounts of rain we have gotten this April. It also seems as if they might have added those LED light strips to the actual arms that support the seats as well! I can`t wait to see this ride running at night. It has been a while since Kings Island added a flat ride (if you can really call this a flat ride), with a great lighting package!

They have to get all the brake pressures exactly right to make sure the train stops where it is supposed to. They also have to test all the photo eyes and blocks and every other little thing on it. All that is a very long process.
