If you see a great crew....

It seems some of the best crews got very few comments last season. sad.gif I always either stop at GR, or write a note when a ride crew is exceptional. Some of the employees here might let you know why a good guest comment is important. If you have a good time....that's probably the best way to say thanks.

Also this year the new Funcentive Rewards program gives associates points for GR compliments. If you really wow someone then you'll get an extra 250 points (I think, check in the Star News) for it. There are two downsides to this that I can see already, people will compliment their buddies when they go to the park (this probably can't be avoided) and those of us in GR have little or no chance of getting the same compliments. We'll handle situations all day and not even get a simple thank you but we'll spend more time entering reports for the rest of the park. Now of course it's early in the season and this may not be true down the line, but I've got a feeling that we'll get to enter a BUNCH more this year than last year regardless.

/my two cents

Yea, we really appreciate it when guests recognize when we are doing things right, not just when something does not go exactly perfect. If you do notice that an associate was excptionally good or helpful, make a not of it and just take a 30 second stop at Guest Relations on your way out of the park. Believe me it will help make the associates day and let us have more fun while working if people are not always just trying to watch and see of someone makes a mistake.

-Thanks-

I made sure to comment on the crew I encountered on Hypersonic at PKD. Phenominally nice crew, especially during the 2 hour breakdown. I stayedon the platform since they said anyone who wanted to wait could, and after everyone else left, I chatted with them and kept them from being bored. They let me take a solo ride, then the ride broke again. Ah well.

But I have to commend a supervisor I encountered last year at PKI. She was in Rivertown, and her name was Jessica. I had to talk to her three times in one day last year due to a few incidents (none of them our fault), and she was always completely courteous. I just didnt get a chance to stop by Guest Services to commend her.

LMAO at this post. No crew at PKI that special for me to go up and ride some note saying they are greater than some other crew that works just as hard. When I was up on opening day, I was waiting for FoF and I saw the 4 star signs. I assumed the got the stars because they are a great crew, right? Not only was one of the stars dangling off the hook but the crew wasn't that great. They loaded people on the train and sent us off like every other crew does.

I guess I fail to see what constitutes as a great crew.

LMAO at this post.

Glad I was able to make you laugh. ::shrug::

Yep, there are some crews who do little more than check a belt/bar and send the ride off.

There are also crews who are friendly, smiling, and make every effort to get us on the ride more quickly.

*The Beast/Eagle crew is especially great.

*On Saturday, SoB's crew was hustling, and kept the lines moving....despite a one train op. While the train was on the course, those guys were actually talking to the peolpe on deck....not just treating us like cattle.

*Last year's Delirium crew were not only revved up, they busted their asses getting rid of line jumpers. It may be part of their job, but not all crews take it so seriously.

*During the power outage on dry run, The Racer crew was cutting up and telling jokes, and kept apologizing for the wait....even though it wasn't in their control.

*I've seen more than a few crews handle special needs guests with humility and dignity, something many parks....or businesses won't do nearly as well.

*Many of the crews (especially after newbies are broken in) will allow re rides. I'm not sure if that violates park policy, but I can assure you that the guests more than appreciate it.

I've been fortunate enough to visit many parks in the past few years. Maybe somene who has little or no experience with other parks can take PKI's friendly employees for granted, but not all parks have the same caliber workforce.

If you're too important or too busy to take a few seconds to tell the park that they're doing well, that's your business. I was merely pointing out that for those who actually appreciate what a good crew/employee does to make your day a memorable one; there is a way to say thanks.

By the way, anyone who works with the public knows that sometimes people can be less than polite. When employees can shake that off and still do their job well...it says something about that employee. (not just PKI employees)

AND JUST TO SHOW YOU.......

It Doesnt have to be just a great ride crew that enjoys reconition. (sp)

My first year in the park, I was in costume, and was reconized bu HR because a guest had been having a bad day, and Yogi, took the extra time to make them smile.......that's all it is, IF I CAN MAKE ONE PERSONS DAY BETTER, then I know I make a difference, Food people the same, I remember seeing this past weekend a child drop thier Blue Ice Cream, and Not even a minute later a food service associate had brought them out another . It's all about making your expierence better, and if we can do it, then we are happy.

Thats how its gonna be all summer...Sob has the longest line in the park at many times during the day...so the guests deserve to have some conversation thrown their way...plus it makes the day more enjoyable for the associates as well!

Hey Andy,

Dont feel bad about not getting recognition. Noone in the parks GP even knows that theres a tech service crew except for the ones on these boards. Oh well, guess you cant win em all.

PS. Those flags were from last season. Some crews took them home for keepsakes, others wire-tied them from the rafters and now they are stuck (SOB!!!!! Tiny, chew Drew out on that one!)

I guess we could start a whole new thread on if your a great employee...

Anytime a park employee makes your day, let GR know about. We all wear name badges, and I'm sure you can tell if someone is working in games, or merch, or food or entertainment, whatever. You can always ask for a last name. A lot of employees don't get a lot of recognition, even from sups, although they are getting better at it. I haven't heard a complaint about a sup yet from an employee this year.

Most people are quick to complain, but slow to thank.

  • 4 weeks later...

It's been awhile since this has been replied in so I figured I'd bump it up. Remember folks there are other good rides with good crews besides The Beast in the park. Beast has nine grs which equals 3 Crew of Excellence flags, no other crew has one gr. So go to Guest Relations if you see a crew doing a good job, doing thier job right, or just made your day a little better.

i know im new but from what ive heard GR's are hard to get...and we cant tell people "hey go up to GR and tell them how great we are" but what makes me mad is the people that say they will or they have...and yet i havent seen anything... nothing in our stations and no new stars yet on our name tags...so from employee to consumer or employee to employee if you say your going to go up to GR for us or for one person...please be a person of your word and do it... it will want to make us do our job that much better

Let's do this: how about everyone on here keep their eyes peeled for one employee that is exceptionally nice, or has gone above and beyond and make sure to recognize them at GR. I mean, even if you're not an employee or never were, you should be able to tell who's doing their jobs and who's... just working... You know what I mean. I think it would be a good way to give back to the park. Plus, if people are recognized, they are far more likely to continue to go above and beyond and influence others to do so as well.
