Am I the only one who really doesn't like how open the area looks in that picture?

From the air I like how open it is...but I know I would hate it if I were on ground level...it would be like being in Boomerang Bay.

While they make me too sick to enjoy, a tea cup style ride seems like a "must" for any amusement park. It would be nice if they could squeeze one into Coney Island sometime.

I find it interesting how clean the landscaping was. There doesn't seem to be a large array of gardening going on in that area. Were most parks of the time like that? (big on the well manicured bushes/trees, and not so much into the floral aspects) Wish that I could've seen the park during it's glory days.

The beginning of Adventure Express' queue - the "curved" part - is actually a piece of the former ride's platform.

And, for those who didn't know, Flying Dutchman was relocated to Kentucky Kingdom after it was removed from Kings Island.

If we want to get particular... :P the first movie to win Best Picture(1931) was "Grand Hotel".. but Wings won an Oscar its first year for "Most Outstanding Production(1929)"

And did you know that Grand Hotel is the only Best Picture winner in oscar history not to have been nominated in any other categories?

Paul, you mean Winnie Witch's Cauldrens, the only ride at KI on which I have had a protein spill in my 40 years of patronage of the park. ( ooops, just discovered I posted this a day after the photo I am referring to was posted-I just realized the topic today is Flying Dutcman. )

The Beast photo looks like it could be one of those old Tide commercials.

Or an album cover from 'Three Dog Night' :D

VERY good! :D

No, no I didn't...interesting. :)

Nice picture, love old KC shots. If anyone has any pictures of the highly sought after queue line then that would absolutely make my day.

I am so glad I had the opportunity to ride KC a few times. It was a fun ride. I kind of remember the queue...was part of it kind of below ground level? I got in line for in one night pretty late, and the line was really long, and my family members wondered what happened to me!

Now that I've been to Kings Dominion to ride Shockwave, I'm pretty sure I'd have liked King Cobra. When it was around, I was too short (and later too afraid) to ride it. I do still have a few memories of watching it run. Now that I know going upside down on a roller coaster isn't actually the scariest thing ever, I'd be willing to bet KC, with its lack of that awful banked left turn of Shockwave's, would actually rank fairly high on my ratings. I need to go to Canada...

Based off my experience on Canada's Wonderland's Skyrider, I wouldn't care for King Cobra to ever make a return to Kings Island. It wasn't a bad ride, but it's far from extraordinary and I'd much rather prefer Delirium.

Regarding the picture though, I'm digging the floral American flag at the bottom :)

I am sure I am in the extreme minority...I would prefer a ride on AE or Congo Falls over a ride on any flat at KI...and of all of the flat rides, VF and Zephyr are my favorites.

^ I'm with you. At least in 2011, Adventure Express was my favorite ride at KI. My favorite flats are Viking Fury and (wait for it) The Crypt, but for some reason, it seemed like VF always had a line this past season. Because of that, I only ended up riding it once, on closing day. (I also enjoy Zephyr, but it's not one of my favorites. Between walking onto Zephyr and walking onto WindSeeker, I'd probably choose WindSeeker.)
