The Interpreter
Yep. At least once. And I was there. I was in Dallas during the recent tornadoes there, too.
TTD-120-420
If my double header gets cancelled, I might make my way down there. Rain and cold don't bother me. Just being there makes me happy.
Dieseltech20
Have decided to make the trip regardless of the forecast. Almost 8 months since my last visit.
kingsrattler
^ What a coincidence, it has been about six since mine!
Titan
I won't be able to make it this weekend, but I hope that it doesn't rain too much. It could make the park less busy, depending on who checked the weather before coming.
Oldiesmann
The odd thing about Saturday is that no two sources seem to agree on temperature. The National Weather Service says 51, two of the local TV stations are saying mid 50s and two are saying low 60s. Several other sites are saying mid 50s. All of them agree that it's going to rain though. Hopefully it won't be a total washout.
IndyGuy4KI
We really can't complain though, the last 3 opening days have been awesome.
kingsrattler
TWC must read our forum! They changed their forecast to not be such an anomaly!!
Jasper
Accuweather app is forecasting lower to mid 50's with a low of 33 that night. Periods of rain in the morning.
TTD-120-420
I have gone to KI when it was an 80% chance of rain all day, and it didn't rain once. The park was empty. Great days.
coasterfanatic83
I'm praying for rain, and lots of it.
CoasterGeek101
I hope that for at least some of the day it stays dry..........
Oldiesmann
I heard on the radio earlier that it would be scattered showers and storms, so it probably won't be a total washout. Interestingly enough, the NWS forecast for Saturday has gone up 3 degrees to 54. Still, The Weather Underground is saying 64 for that day.
The Interpreter
Huh? Weather Underground uses only NWS forecasts. Perhaps you meant The Weather Channel aka Weather.com?
lopan
hmm now says 70% but that scattered part is a good sign
jcgoble3
Huh? Weather Underground uses only NWS forecasts. Perhaps you meant The Weather Channel aka Weather.com? Apparently they don't just use NWS forecasts. I just looked it up on both sites; the NWS right now says 52 degrees with an 80% chance of rain, while Weather Underground right now says 66 degrees with a 60% chance of rain. Having never used Weather Underground before (I had to Google it to find it just now), I have no idea about their accuracy, but I hope they're right and the NWS is wrong. Oldiesmann
Now both the NWS and Weather Underground are saying 80% chance of rain. Weather Underground still has a higher forecast temperature though (59, compared to 52 from the NWS).
SpongeBob
Well, ya'll have fun 2morrow. I'm throwing in the towel, and will be there on the next available sunny day!
Jasper
I am going to enjoy the day no matter what happens, last I saw was about a 30% chance of showers, cloudy and a high of about 56 degrees. That night however, it is going to get cold.
Oldiesmann
On the noon news on Channel 9, they were saying that the best chance of rain tomorrow will be in the evening. Their "Futurecast" thing was showing showers moving through around 5pm and continuing through at least 7pm, though I have absolutely no idea how accurate that is. Either way, it should be a fun day, and you might even get some unique experiences. Last year the most unusual experience was when a train full of mostly KIC people got stuck on the lift hill of the Blue Racer. One of the people assisting with the evacuation of the train is also a KIC member and knew several of those on that train
kjkjkj
Rainy days at Kings Island are some of the best days to go, as long as it isn't raining hard enough to shut down all the roller coasters. The rain keeps crowds down, which means more time to enjoy riding the rides. Sure, you might be pretty soaked at the end of the day, but that doesn't matter when you are having a great time with your friends and family! Plus, it's always nice to ride rides in the cold rain all day, then go out to your car and put on a dry sweatshirt and crank up the heater! haha
KingsIsland1972
As for me and my fiance', we wouldn't think of missing KI's 40th Anniversary Grand Opening. As for staying all day, I've worked the park on days like Saturday and it WILL BE COLD and miserable if you're wet in any way and there is a breeze. I suggest that you all bring an extra set of dry clothes and an extra hoodie if you dare to stay til close but definately bring an extra pair of socks and walking shoes. I'm staying to about 2pm (so I can get my "rides on" because my fiance' doesn't do coasters) and then we're compromising by making it date night and will be heading for an overnight stay to the Casinos in Indiana as she is entered to WIN a new car, so we have to be there in person should she win. I'm playing a little Roulette and Table Poker. I'm feelin' Lucky! But before we go...we agreed to try some of the new food that's available in the park even though it will be hard passing up LaRosa's Pizza in Rivertown. See you Saturday in the Gold Line somewhere...still haven't decided on what to ride first. She said she'll ride FOF if it's open, so that will be where I'll be.
