Browntggrr
The "Stinger" was completely full when it got stuck Wednesday. Riders were higher than 120 feet in the air for about an hour and a half. And we're learning this isn't the first time folks have been trapped on the new attraction http://www.wfmz.com/news/news-regional-lehighvalley/Riders-stuck-on-Dorney-Park-roller-coaster-for-90-minutes/-/132502/14665790/-/dvd1x8z/-/index.html
jcgoble3
Let's see here. Malfunction properly detected, safety mechanisms kicked in and worked like they were supposed to, train was safely moved back into the station so riders could get off, no one was injured. This is news?
ahank
^In a world where the media plays off the fears of people, yes.

LongliveKingsCobra
Almost as shocking as DB being down for a week! What will happen next!!?? A roller coaster being closed due to mechanical problems?
Oldiesmann
I'm wondering why it took the park 90 minutes to get them down.
CedarPointer
Because there's not a magic "Make the ride work" button and it takes time to manually release the train?

This is news? If anything, I would say the guests hanging for 90 minutes is the most newsworthy item.
16gwoods
I wouldn't mind being up there for 90 mins, as long as the view was good.

HTCO
"It's a wonder no one flipped a switch and opened the restraints as I was on the ride". Clearly, people have no idea how a roller coaster works and or is operated.

CedarPointer
It's broken down FOUR TIMES? Wow! I hope this news station doesn't find out about WindSeeker.
bkroz
That exact ride doing that exact thing at Great America is probably one of the reasons it was moved from that park to begin with... "Completely different" than what happened in California.
Oldiesmann
Because there's not a magic "Make the ride work" button and it takes time to manually release the train? It should not have taken 90 minutes.
Cody
Try being stuck on Drop Tower for 2 hours
medford
So if I'm picturing that coaster correct, its a clone of KIs Invertigo? Heights make me nervous (though going up lift hills doesn't really both me, standing on the top of the Eiffel Tower makes my palms sweat a bit until i get used to it), but I don't think that would bother me too much if I was riding backwards. However if I was in a front facing seat, I'd get used to the height and view eventually, but it would suck to be stuck in the front leaning position for 90 minutes. Is KI's Invertigo 120' tall? I've never thought of that ride being that tall, guess its higher than I realized.
flightoffear1996
Its 131 feet tall http://rcdb.com/530.htm
jdawg1998
Haha at the comments like " I"m never riding this coaster!" and "This is why I don't ride coasters!" ... this rarely happens.
Browntggrr
Try being stuck on Drop Tower for 2 hours But at least you are straight! (ok I'm going to hell, but couldn't pass that one up!)
thunderbeast1968
I am not afraid of heights, but if you were in the front seat and at the top of the lift, and it stopped, your body would kind of lean (lurch) into the restraint, and it might become uncomfortable. calakapepe
It would become uncomfortable I think too. But speaking of the boomerang rides... When's ours going to open?? haha

Hanging facing straight down in the Invertigo restraints would be awful for 5 minutes, much less 90, though the story is sensationalized to the max. dudecoasterman
^ The ride's lifts are at an angle, it is the exact same ride as Invertigo at KI. You are thinking of a Vekoma giant inverted boomerang like Goliath at SFNE, Stinger and Invertigo are regular Vekoma inverted boomerangs.
cholderfield
"You're hanging there with that harness, hanging, hoping that they don't throw the wrong switch and the harness open up," said Ray Reichardt. Love it!

CedarPointer
The comment about "flipping the wrong switch" kind of reminds me of people who think that coasters immediately stop in their tracks if the power goes out- "Would it get stuck in the loop?!"
