jdawg1998
However, $79.99 for unlimited visits, unlimited free parking, unlimited Halloween Haunt, and Fun Perks is a fantastic deal. Six payments of $13.33 is the same deal, but spectacularly accessible to families who might not be able to invest up front. Am I the only one who thinks $79.99 is still to cheap? That costs less than a ticket for a one day trip to Universal Studios, Disney World, or Sea World, but this $79.99 allows you to go unlimited amount of times and have free parking to one of the best amusement parks around. It should be $99.99 (just my opinion. That may seem expensive, but what do I know? )
The Interpreter
I paid more than $55 for season pass parking at Great Adventure...four years ago!
Browntggrr
Too many people do not put things into perspective. Do the math. The cost of a KI season pass, that includes parking. Then divide the cost vs. the amount if hours spent at the park. My cost for the whole family is less than $1/ hr. Where else can you get out of the house for that value? You can even go deeper. Figure out how many times you have visited the park, then multiply the ticket & parking cost. Now compare that value to the cost of your pass.
CedarPointer
There is a renewal discount. Renewals were $95 in the spring this season. It's just that the fall discounted price is cheaper than the renewal price and you can't combine discounts.
shark6495
Again, its not about the value of a season pass (which is a great value). Its about the perceived value and savings. JCPenny recently went "rock bottom" pricing. They do not offer sales or coupons, and their goods are rounded to the nearest dollar. However, people do not shop as often because they are not getting a "deal." People love hearing they saved money. Remember when Circuit City closed their doors? A company came in, bought all of their goods, marked them up to above normal pricing, offered a 15% discount (which was about the same or more than the "normal" price), and people flocked to the stores to buy "clearenced" items. Same thing here. If you want to make people feel good, offer a "savings." Renew your season pass and get a free drink, renew your season pass and get a free fast pass for next year, renew your season pass and save 5 dollars. KI-ORIG-EMP
I worked in the market research field and know how the retail store (mass/grocery/drug stores)deal with discounts and sale items in their market strategy. For instance, a grocery store place an ad and listed their canned vegetables on sale at $.25 cents per can. They expected sales to increase but they were not seeing the spike they thought were happen. Then they placed a big ad and listed them as 3/$1.00 and had a big sign in the canned good section with this. The shoppers flocked in and their sale was a huge success! The people perceived a sale, even though they paid more for the canned vegetables. They paid 33 cents instead of 25 cents. It is the same with BOGO sales, but that is another topic. Season passes are advertised to go up after October 28th and buy now and save. They could had listed it at $89.99 for the Gold pass and offered a renewal price of $79.99 for current pass holders. Their sales could had been less for this time period but by pricing the way they did increased their sale projection higher than if they didn't.
jdawg1998
Someone posted on Kings Island's Facebook about upgrading from Gold to Platinum and mentioning he can now go to Cedar Point, to which Kings Island responded: Other Cedar Fair parks like Carowinds and Kings Dominion are less 10 hours away! Use your Platinum pass to check out these parks, too! I think it's funny because it looks like some competition here
BavarianBeatle
Dorney Park is less than 10 hours away from Mason as well, as is a certain waterpark in Norteast Ohio.

CedarPointer
I bought my gold pass for 60$ last year....no offence, but I think its ridiculous you guys don't have a way to renew your already owned gold passes, buying a new one is not going to happen this year. I bought my gold pass at 60 and unless you have some sort of reason to up the price $20 from last year, I wont buy one again until I can get it for 60. You might as well get rid of the "gold pass" and call it a season pass since the gold pass isn't much cheaper then the platinum. Sorry, I just feel that Kings Island is raping people of their money when there is never new attractions and Halloween Haunt is a total bust. I waited in line for 2 hours to walk straight through a haunted house and everyone was standing around. Me nor my family will buy gold passes this year. Admission to the park without a gold pass is outrageous too! In this kind of economy I figured Kings Island would be a good company and offer huge savings and discounts but I am ashamed and sadden of what type of business Kings Island has turned in to. Telling me I can make low payments is not saving me or anyone else anymore money. Get it together Kings Island! So many inaccuracies in this comment, I don't feel like pointing out all of them. KI-ORIG-EMP
Not getting into the price of the Gold Pass, the cheapest way to buy general admission tickets to the park is by going to the park's web site and buying them online, which is far cheaper than the at the gate price. Even if they are at the park and did not buy it online, they can always use the app on their smartphone and buy it via their phone and use the confirmation number to give to the sales window. Now if they were a guest of one of the sell out days in September with either GE, P&G or others, then they could had purchased it at a $20 discount from the regular price. jcgoble3
the last two years have been awful experiences for us at the park. We've been gold pass holders for years and years, but now there never seems to be a magic time to go when there isn't 90+ minute lines on every decent ride. We even went last weekend thinking the cold and misty rains would keep some people away (NOT!!!!!!), but half the rides were sutdown most of the day, and the rest were way overcrowded. We've decided to seek out other forms of entertainment and forego the Season passes. "There never seems to be a magic time to go when there isn't 90+ minute lines on every decent ride"? What world is he living in? Six days out of every summer week have lines far shorter than that.
KI-ORIG-EMP
Then if that person thinks the park is too crowded and the lines are way too long for them, then that means that the season passes and general admission ticket prices are priced too low. Maybe the prices need to be increased as the remedy to reduce the crowd sizes and ensure the wait times for rides are short. Then they will be happy, providing they can afford the ticket prices, which if not, they will be back to complain that the admission price is way too high and the regular folks can't afford to visit the park. Well, that is crazy. Crowd sizes are large because the park is very popular and you can expect ride wait time to increase as the weather becomes warmer and on the weekends, when people go on vacation. Look at the Reds, The team attracts large crowds when they win and people want to see them win. It is the same with any venue that people are attracted to. Expect crowds to be large on weekends and for special events. If they want smaller crowds, go on the weekday.

Tanna
Foo! People pay that much for a concert ticket for two hours entertainment. Better to pay that amount for two passes than on a prescription for anti-depressants, or anything else to clear away the blues. After so many visits, it's a free ride.
CedarPointer
Oh, there were people convinced that the price would drop after the 28th, in spite of being told numerous times that $79.99 is the lowest price of year. It's mind-boggling.
KI-ORIG-EMP
Now the very same people that were convinced the price would drop after October 28th will complain the current price is too high and the park is too greedy. The price has always gone up after the fall season.

From the way this person's spelling and lack of grammar is, I highly doubt he or she knows how to spell IOU. "spelling and lack of grammar is..."? With context: "the way this person's spelling and lack of grammar is" The bolded part is a single noun phrase, which could be replaced with simply "it". It's the same idea as saying "The way gas prices are [right now], I'm not going to be doing much driving until they come down a bit." So it's a perfectly legitimate construct, although "are" might be more appropriate in KI-ORG-EMP's sentence.
