rcwizard13 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Some on this site may not think it is a big deal but as Terpy has pointed out numerous times, brands do care how their products are spelled and the proper terminology is being used (Batwing versus Pretzel, for example). While you may think Terp is being a pest try reading the TOS the first thing is spelling, punctuation, and capitals and by joining this site you agreed to the TOS. By that logic we need to pay attention to commas. I'll start. Don is missing a comma before "but." I actually wouldn't mind if more people would pitch in on commas. It really helps with school. Love your dedication to this Davidw. But I think, and I could be wrong, that you have one support and one piece of track to many. It's hard to tell, but after switching back and forth a few times, I think he has it right. The fact that the rendering is from a similar angle to the webcam really helps. Some on this site may not think it is a big deal but as Terpy has pointed out numerous times, brands do care how their products are spelled and the proper terminology is being used (Batwing versus Pretzel, for example). Perfect example: http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2013/04/29/top-4-dinosaur-theme-parks/ That's one of the top four news media outlets in the nation with online readers in the millions misspelling a name while promoting a recent attraction. In other news, I'm still hoping for "Batwing" chicken wings as a menu item this upcoming season. Wow. I had to skim through that article a couple of times before actually noticing the error. It's like one of those things where you're so used to seeing something one way that when it's wrong by a letter or two, you can't even notice it. Sorry for so many quotes. You guys were busy today. I had to play catch up- three pages worth! 2
Kat Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Love your dedication to this Davidw. But I think, and I could be wrong, that you have one support and one piece of track to many. I can never tell on the supports, but I think he has one too many pieces of track for sure, just based on what I saw on the webcam during my lunch break (from 4-4:30pm). Either way, the update is much appreciated, and I'm betting on completion of track and support construction tomorrow 2
steveinphoenix Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 @kat, you take a lunch break at 4pm. Wow, talk about a late lunch. 2
LoraX Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 @kat, you take a lunch break at 4pm. Wow, talk about a late lunch. I believe she works a more non traditional shift. I am thinking she goes in around noon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
The Interpreter Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 There are days I get lunch at 3 (or 1500 to the .mil types). I'm in the office most days by 0730 at the latest. Terp, just sayin' 3
LoraX Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I go in most days at 7:30 and have an assigned lunch at 11:00. I'd actually prefer a later lunch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
thedevariouseffect Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Or 2000 UTC Half of the time I don't even take a lunch, too busy. Take today, patients until 1130, admitted one at 1145, got paperwork done by 1230, just enough time to relax, drink some tea, and get my 1300 patient.. Ready for the next vacation 3
calakapepe Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Welp. After trying to install my new foot well LEDs in my car and quitting 1/3 of the way through due to the cold making my fingers numb and tingly, I must say the construction guys deserve some "hot cocoa" for still doing work in this horrid weather; whether weather braving was their choice, or not.Granted, many, if not all, aren't doing small work that requires they take their gloves off to do it, but even still.. No bueno. 9
CoastersRZ Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 With this frigid cold weather, I bet not much painting is being done on The Bat either. Hard to do an adequate paint job when your paint is freezing as opposed to drying. 13
ohiocolts Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Some kids at my school eat lunch at 10:45. 3
thegajone Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Some on this site may not think it is a big deal but as Terpy has pointed out numerous times, brands do care how their products are spelled and the proper terminology is being used (Batwing versus Pretzel, for example). With regards to capitalizing the first letter of the names of rides on a free, public anonymous internet message board, where anyone can sign up and say anything? I'm not buying it. I don't think anyone on here(or at least I haven't seen anyone) saying its ok to intentionally misspell any copyrights(even though many copyrights are intentional misspellings ironically) I thought the debate about what to call the batwing element as nothing more than discussion, though apparently some others took it more seriously. Now, I see the tower trailer deal as monumentally different situation as that was promoting a competing sponsor. If it was branded the Coke(or even Coke) trailer tower I don't think that reaction would have occurred. If someone was intentionally not capitalizing something repeatedly, sure, say something. But an occasional, accidental non capitalization does not require the forum police to call the poster out. When you factor in that many times people are posting from phones and autocorrect will often change what you typed, its kinda petty to make an issue out of it. This guy gets it. 1
TheBEASTunchained Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 The construction crew is now at the Banshee site, hopefully in preparation to install the final pieces of track. 3
TheCrypt Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 ^^How about this: everybody capitalize proper nouns and then we'll never have to talk about this again. Problem solved. Terp doesn't make the posts anymore, Dane and the park are happy. 10
thedevariouseffect Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 That's the thing, the park and CF do care, heed the warnings... When you see someone step up and basically say cut it out, just cut it out.. I've made a few mistakes that Terp has grabbed me for, however I corrected them and moved on, it's a two second edit. You all will be fine. 8
Hendrick Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Some kids at my school eat lunch at 10:45. There was a point in time where former high school had lunch starting at 9:24am. 2

ethancoaster Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Some kids at my school eat lunch at 10:45. There was a point in time where former high school had lunch starting at 9:24am. I have my lunch at 10:45 too! Time to get back on topic. Does the crew have to install 2 or 3 more pieces? 1
MantisMan Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Back on topic..... I noticed it yesterday, and then again this morning that it looks like they are welding at the support bases. Or more precisely, at one of the bases that can be seen on the newer webcam position. Is this typical of all bolted support bases? 1
ethancoaster Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Guys, check the webcam! I think there's only one piece of track left and two supports! 3
Gplez90 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 One piece left!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
TheBEASTunchained Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Track piece No. 100 is now the only piece of track left to install on Banshee. 2
ethancoaster Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 ^Does that mean there are 100 track pieces, or is that like a code number?
Thrill_Biscuit Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Getting ready to sing (a public domain variation of) "Happy Birthday" to Banshee! ...and then wait an excruciating three months while we watch water dummies get to have all of what would be the fun, if they weren't insentient robots! 11
thedevariouseffect Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I would be the water dummy after one round of testing 4
LongTimeLurker Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 After the hiatus once the Zero-G roll was installed it seems like they picked up the pace a bit. They installed the back half of the ride in 5 weeks. 4
sikkinixx99 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I would join you thedevariouseffect!! Hope we see some good video of the last piece going in 2
UnrealNightmare Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 It would have been cool if they made a documentary for Banshee on it's construction like they did for Tatsu. 3
Gplez90 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Hey, i just became a local! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 5
UnrealNightmare Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I think when they go to put the last piece in place we should all look for Don and see if we can find where he's filming or taking pictures from. Kind of like our own version of Where's Waldo. 8
