Vine path to Kiddieland

Featured Replies

forgive me if this has already been mentioned but i was feeling nostoligic and was wondering what year it was taken out?

Man, I was hoping for a second that this post was going to say it was coming back. I don't recall when it was removed, but I think it would be awesome if they could put this back in (and perhaps a couple more in other places across the park, not sure where they would all fit.

The path wasn't actually a path into, what would have been then, Hanna-Barbara Land. I'm pretty sure the "vine tunnel" attached into Rivertown. However, it has been quite a while since I've walked through that, so I might not be remembering correctly. But I feel like it used to bring you out near the log flume, which is now Race for Your Life Charlie Brown.

It wasn't exactly a path it was more of a picnic area that wrapped around behind the ice cream place, and next to chic-fil-a.

I would say sometime in the mid to late 90's, Can't quite remember. And a big 1 finger salute to Paramount for doing that.

It was after 2000 as I remember it being there when I went with a group from work.

That was AFTER it was chopped up and only part remained. It was, indeed, a path/walkway before the dissection.

I feel like an old timer sometimes when I read threads here.

It disappeared with the Nickelodeon Central expansion, I think. If I recall correctly, a portion was relocated next to where Chic-fil-a is now.

The pathway was a covered arbor that ran about where Chic-fil-a seating area is before you entered the old Hanna Barbara Land to Rivertown. The arbor was vine covered and had benches along the sides and was a nice place to sit and relax and people watch.

When I was younger it was like walking into a new land like Narnia. I always hoped Aslan would show up or something cool like that. (I know Aslan has not been affiliated with KI, but what a cool thing if it did happen!)

The entrance to the path from the former Hanna Barbara side is still largely there. That portion of the path was converted to table seating next to Chick File. The rest of the path was fenced in and is now used as a service area with a large freezer and dumpster - behind the ice cream concession building. I believe this change took place in 2005.

It is at least nice to know that you can walk under a vine path at a Cedar Fair park though. On my trip to Carowinds in 2012, I stood under theirs for several minutes, just to take in what I missed out on at KI. It's a very cool feeling standing under one of those.

You can see the Carowinds vine path in the background of this pic. I wish I had thought to take one from a closer angle, but hey, it gives me an excuse to go back to Carowinds, right? Of course, having ridden Mantis, Exterminator, Raven and soon Banshee, I don't think any of my favorites from my last trip would impress me as much if I were to go back... They've all since been one-upped by a coaster of a similar type.

Secret Asian Man...

Terp, cross threadin'

Ah I better let that one go, wouldn't want to be un-PC..

I thought the vine tunnel was so cool would love to see something like that again.

Technically it would be secret ASLAN man if it lead to Narnia.

I think it more when HBLand was annexed to become Nick Universe that the arch was removed. And I also believe it to be a CBS decision to remove it and not Paramount.

I thank the 22 stars on a regular basis that CBS sold out and got out. I'm not sure the parks could have survived much longer under their so-called management, penny pinching and utter lack of understanding of the park business.

or television business for that matter.

I think Cedar Fair's biggest investment after buying Paramount out was on trash cans. It seemed like I was always wading through trash in those days.

I think that Cedar Fair should improve on the ivy-covered path and instead place it over a small stream. That way, they can have an Ivy Bridge. I think an Ivy Bridge would really help people process everything going on around them.

- homestar92, waiting to see if anyone picks up his horrible pun.

Oh, they do.

Perhaps the Diamondback splashdown?

Why? Simon Says. At least at times.

And...it rhymes.

And lest ye be troubled, I apologize in advance for the diversion, Mr. G.

Really wish they would add a path like this again somewhere. I always missed it. Could be placed somewhere between Rivertown and BLSC or even on the path from Planet Snoopy to Soak City.
