May 5, 201412 yr It seems odd for the park to be shut down for a whole week after just two weeks of operation. Do they do this every year?
May 5, 201412 yr Seems as though they do, they wait a little bit to start the 7 day operation. My thinking is to work out the rest of the flaws, bugs, etc.
May 5, 201412 yr Also that a very large population of it's staff are Teens or College age who are in school. It's hard enough to staff the weekends let alone weekdays in April and May.
May 5, 201412 yr It's like this every year. Pretty soon, kids will be off school for the summer, allowing more people to come to the park. Right now (and the first few weeks of every season), it's not feasible for them to be open during the week
May 5, 201412 yr Nah, it's always been like this. Simply put - the kids are still in school so attendance and staffing would be an issue with daily operations during the week. The reason they are doing Fridays this year is primarily for Math & Science school trips. It wasn't until about two or three years ago that they actually opened this late. It used to be weekend only operation from early April until around Memorial Day, then daily after that. However, opening later in April but going daily more quickly actually has added operating days since then.
May 5, 201412 yr Author Thanks for answering my question, everyone. Last year was my first year holding a season pass, and I didn't actually go until June, so I'm sorta new to it. Am I to assume then that KI's website is inaccurate when it portrays all of May as having daily operation?
May 5, 201412 yr Thanks for answering my question, everyone. Last year was my first year holding a season pass, and I didn't actually go until June, so I'm sorta new to it. Am I to assume then that KI's website is inaccurate when it portrays all of May as having daily operation? I wouldnt say so, their calendar is usually very accurate, but i'm not one to give full facts. I've only started going once or twice a year since last year.
May 5, 201412 yr Daily operations start this Friday. That's still pretty darn early in the month. And I'll be heading up after work during the week.
May 5, 201412 yr Daily Operation has started much earlier the last few years. I remember when Daily Operation didn't start till about the end of May around Memorial day weekend. Also the park used to be open weekends only about a month or more before Daily Operation starts. This is nothing new on the way they are doing things this year. Just be glad that park has been open Friday's as well, I remember when Fridays the park was closed for Math and Science Days.
May 6, 201412 yr And I'll be heading up after work during the week. I get off work at 6 so 8pm closes aren't worth it for me after work. 10pm closes...whole different ballgame
May 6, 201412 yr I'm looking forward to daily operation. That means I'll be able to hit KI on my days off and make up for lost time during the slower periods Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk
May 6, 201412 yr Since Cedar Fair took over, daily operations at KI seem to parallel the start of daily operations at CP. ( CP has always started daily operations right away while KI would not start daily operations until after Memorial Day weekend.) I think KI has probably discovered what a treasure trove the month of May is with school trips and math/science days. ( Wish we had had trips to KI when I was in school.)
May 6, 201412 yr It's been like this literally as long as I can remember. It's been earlier and later in the past but it's nothing new or abnormal.
January 8, 201610 yr Things that go "bump" in the night... I was fully prepared to write "because it's January!"
January 8, 201610 yr Daily operation begins Friday May 13th. Opening Day is Saturday April 16th! Less than 100 days...can't wait! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
January 8, 201610 yr Note the park is currently slated to be closed to the public April 17--the Sunday after the Saturday opening day...
January 9, 201610 yr As it was last year. It also had a pretty good rain on that closed day, as I recall.
