Current wait times

Crowds were light everywhere but Planet Snoopy. Sundays this time of year suck for PS. By noon Peantus 500 had a 20 minute wait. Also the "new" event at the water park has helped bring in more under 54" peeps. The last 2 years this same attraction wasn't very crowded because of the lack of a "new" in front of the attraction.

Cedar Point was dead today as well, even though lots of enthusiasts showed up.

The longest line I waited in was 20 minutes for Top Thrill Dragster around 4:30pm. Most rides (with the usual exceptions) were station waits all day.

In the last hour of operation, I rode Mean Streak in the front row (x2), Magnum, Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick (x6).

I waited in line for Peanuts 500 w/ our 2 kids, while my wife and her mother went to Diamondback. The plan was to meet over by FAAC once we were done so the kids could get the Icee that they had been asking for. They were at the meeting spot well before we arrived. Diamondback was down to the bottom of the steps, Peanuts 500 took at least 30 minutes to get thru. Banshee was a station wait, Stunt Coaster was around 30 minutes.

And so it goes on a Sunday in the fall.

On a side note, I was disappointed to discover that they no longer do Trick or Treat with the Dino's. (the trick or treat has been moved over to the water park with the rest of the activities that they've had there the last several years; I've felt that was one of the best things the park did all season long). I also noticed that many of the buttons on the "control the dino" feature were not working or only partially working. It seems that maintenance of that attraction is heading towards the Snoopy Starlight Spectacular schedule were we will all be ready for them to be packed up and shipped off to the next place.

Are you sure that they weren't working, or were you pressing them too fast? Only one button works at a time, so once you press one button, you must wait for that effect to stop plus an additional couple of seconds before any other button will respond to being pressed. I've seen many people make the mistake of pushing several buttons one after the other and then getting frustrated when only the first one works. This is not due to a lack of maintenance; it's been this way since the trail opened in 2011.

Agreed, we went through Dinosaurs Alive several weeks before the end of daily operations on a Thursday and all of the control panel dinosaurs seemed to be working then, doubt they went downhill that quickly in little over a month. Now the motion controlled dinosaurs, that's another story...

I'm 99% sure, I even mentioned that to my son that he needed to wait. it wasn't all of them mind you, but the last one in particular was stuck with the head up and only the ability to open/close its mouth. There were a few others that we couldn't get to work properly. But the maintenance went beyond that, dinos with missing claws, the dig station wasn't well attended to, etc.... its just gave me the impression of the early stages of the Starlight Spectacular decline, a road headed to an area of embarrassment. Granted, overall, its still in good shape, and perhaps what I saw/experienced was just the residual effects of a season long trail, and the needed improvements will be made come April. I doubt there is much shelf life for that area beyond their contract status; it just doesn't seem well attended at this point, but I not privy to any of the financials, so I could be way off base. If the intent is to remove the dinos when the contract is up, I hope that they don't let the area fall into as bad of shape as the Starlight Spectacular was at the end of last season.

At the beginning of the season the area looked great. Same with it again sometime around July. It could just very well be that its near the end of a long season of kids touching/playing with the Dinos. Heck the dino near the baby station had its tail ripped off at one point over the summer but it was fixed within 2 weeks. So maybe its just worn down.

As for some of the buttons, I did notice at the beginning of the year, some of the dinos had limited use of the buttons. It could be that its possibly just getting older, or it needs constant maintenance. They are out in all kinds of weather.

I could never get the timing right for the motion sensors. I was either much to early (following a group) to set off the sensor again, or walked up to the group much to late for the dino to just be ending its motion cycle.

Not to get this topic way too off-topic, but you mentioning the Dino Dig Site reminded me of an issue I also had with Dinosaurs Alive. When we visited last it was getting towards the end of the day and my daughter was wanting to go digging of course. I don't know if they were trained to be like this, but the lady working the Dino Dig Site obviously didn't want to be there and would not let any children dig in an area other than one single bone that had already been dug out. Needless to say my 4 year daughter old didn't like this idea and constantly kept on wanting to go over to the other bones and it turned into a struggle where I finally just got fed up and said come on let's go. Why even have the Dino Dig Site left open towards the end of the day if the associates are going to be in such a big hurry to leave that they are gonna restrict what paying patrons are wanting to do in the area, just close the Dino Dig Site completely 30 minutes early and cover up the bones for tomorrow after it closes if that's how it's gotta be.
