rhyano
So I was looking at Google reviews for Kentucky Kingdom and being board I looked at the ones for Kings Island aka the horrible reviews just because they didn't read the policies. Edit: Fixed!
silver2005
If we're going to do Google (which should be capitalized BTW), we'd have to include YouTube in that, which we could be here forever.
McSalsa
This guy on Google reviews going by the name of Randy Cramer sums it up pretty well (no it is not me, he may be a KIC member but I don't know): "It's an awesome park, and a lot of fun. Most of the negative reviews here you can account for being based mainly on people's own stupidity. Complaints their are no bins for the Firehawk to store their items like phones? There are lockers located at that ride, with a huge sign that says, "no storage bins on these rides". Huge lines on the weekends?? You don't say lol... Your friend bought a ticket from a private seller and Kings Island wouldn't honor it when you got their? That's illegal, and it's called scalping. Those tickets are given to employees for their personal use, and are not intended to be sold. The list goes on and on.The only truly valid and repetitive complaint I've seen in any of these reviews is the cost of food. It is marked up in many cases by 400% of what you'd pay outside of the park, and when you know people will stay all day, that's ludicrous and frankly just rude.Other than that, it's an amazing park with amazing rides and staff."Also there's a person who thinks Banshee is nothing more than FACE/OFF repainted. Uhh, the invert right next to the entrance which was FACE/OFF is NOT Banshee, that's Invertigo, Banshee is near the back of the Action Zone section where King Cobra/Son of Beast were...
rhyano
There was one where the guy took his 3-10 year old kids to the park and expected Planet Snoopy would be open, then he called the park an alcoholic den, I mean come on READ what's going on BEFORE you drive 2-3 hours and buy $200 worth of tickets. Of course Halloween Haunt was going on.
Dr Zhark
here are a few My family visited Kings Island on a Saturday in October. The thrill rides here are quite good. Diamondback, Banshee and Firehawk are all terrific and will leave you with butterflies in your stomach. Unfortunately, you're going to spend the majority of your day waiting in long lines unless you're one of the fortunate few who can afford and extra $70+ per ticket for their fast lanes (which is an absurdity). Most lines were 30-45 minutes for the main attractions. The food prices are also ludicrous...$4 for a bottled Coke, $3.75 for bottled water, $14 for a burger & fries. Also, no matter where you were in the park, you were buzzed by yellowjackets which is very annoying. Bring lots of money and patience...you'll need plenty of both. I have two issues going on here. We went in the summer and decided to buy our kids a fast pass. They were $85 each. On some of the rides the swing in rivertown and surf dog in snoopy land, my kids were ignored. I had to walk up and stand with them so they could be let on in the fast pass lane. They got stuck on the Banshee twice at the top of the hill for 20 minutes the first time and 15 minutes the second time. The harness is snug and my daughter had a panic attack. I went to guest services and was told by Meg that its a ride and these things happen. Kimberly promised me when I returned for fright fest they would make it up to us. Well, they didn't. We returned for fright fest and Meg told me that there was no information or record that I had ever talked to Kimberly. Shame on Kimberly for not doing what she was suppose to do when I went in the first time and complained. I had to fight to receive 2 fast passes for the family. Big deal. Meg acted like she was doing me such a favor. I asked to speak to her boss and she told me she was the boss. This place is so poorly managed. Be careful if you go for fright fest. The place is swarming with hornets because of the unclean trash cans and sticky tables. I got stung 5 times on my arm and twice on my leg. The prices for food is crazy. Two slices of pizza, greasy breadsticks and a drink was $14. They were out of pretzels when we went to Auntie Annes. They just don't have the help for Fear Fest and it shows. The rides are good, but that's about all anymore. Visited October 2014
Oldiesmann
Hornets? On a cold night in October? Really?
MDMC01
Actually, you'd be surprised how many bees are in those trashcans in October! I don't remember if they had much of a presence at night, but I do recall seeing trash cans with bees in them when working during the Haunt season. However, I don't know if they're hornets or just regular bees.
electricsun
I think they were regular bees. Kings Island wasn't the only place that had issues with bees this fall. I went to Carillon Park and they had an outside patio closed because of bees. I've learned to be very cautious in reading reviews. Some people tend to have unrealistic expectations, especially with hotels. Don't expect a Hilton experience when staying at an economy level hotel.
disco2000
Regarding reviews - some are unrealistic expectations, and I bet an even bigger number are the many negative trolls out there that just write a negative review just for the sake of writing a negative review - they cannot afford to go there, so they "attempt" to prevent someone else from having fun by trying to discourage someone from going. In my own unscientific observation, I have reviewed negative reviews of parks that were done on FB and then clicked on the reviewers page and find all they do is complain, and in some instances, even find where they commented on one of their friends pictures at "XYZ" park and they post that they wish they could/afford to go to "XYZ" park, and such comment was made after their supposed review of the same park! If someone has a "legitimate" bad experience is one thing, but to blatantly lie is another issue and one that I know companies are starting to go after.
jbum123
You have to remember about reviews. Most people who experience something and enjoy it , go on with their lives afterwards. It's only those that have a bad experience or are disgruntled against something that post negative reviews as they feel it helps them get back at the place of experience. It's the same with practically every type of review. Just like accepting bids for services, throw out the highs and the lows and pick one in the middle.
lopan
i went there about 25 times this year and i don't recall seeing any bees except like 1 time. Saw several groundhogs though but big woop there.
