Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

I know that the last two times I've ridden the train, they have mentioned the old house is in the fort and to look closely, then they have mentioned Missouri Jane chasing the train Asa well as the Ghost Hunters 2012 episode featuring the house.

Could this be clues to the newest attraction - an old haunted house in the woods? That would be fine with me... Maybe an log ride through a haunted mansion.... Hmmm... I like the idea... ;)

I agree. Sometimes they talk too soft or too fast. But she didn't say an entire word. The wife and I were sitting just two seats behind them.

He speaks extremely fast and just kinda slurs his words. At least we all still get to hear Cotton Eyed Joe.

Concrete truck just pulled out of the woods by WWC and sitting behind the old Crypt building.

Footers confirmed. (jokes aside)

It's probably the truck to continue pouring the concrete path of WWC's new entrance/exit

I'm sure that there will be crossing gates and that the area between the rails will be filled so that you won't trip as you cross. It should be just like the crossing area in Soak City. After it crosses, it will go to the right and into the woods, dead ending into the old path. I'm wondering if the old black top path to the ride will be replaced as well?

That was changed during the Paramount era. After years of lugging strollers and bags onto the train and over the bridge, they decided to create train crossings to allow guests direct access to the park. It appears that they are giving the same access to WWC... and perhaps whatever else is going on in the woods... ;)

I thought you crossed over top of the tracks on the way to Soak City. Unless I'm missing a crossing. (I've never been to Soak City, only the main part of the Park.)

It's both.

You cross over both tracks into Soak City, since it's double tracked near there. and you could also have the option of crossing over if you don't wish to wait.

Shaggy said - "I've been in the house-in-the-fort at KI a few times. Last time was well over 10 years ago. I never trespassed - was always with a park employee escort. When I was in there, the house was the exact opposite of interesting. It literally was full of trash, old rotten furniture and abandoned junk. It was no doubt just left as-is when the original owners vacated. There were no secrets to be seen, no hidden ride parts, nothing but an abandoned junk riddled old house. Unless something changed since Cedar Fair took over (which I doubt it has) then there's no real merit to the intrigue of the house in the fort. I always get a kick out of the speculation about it, especially since I know first hand it looked something very similar to this picture:

http://www.johnvantine.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/wachapreague-island-first-abandoned-house-inside.jpg"

Shaggy, Do you know why Kings Island kept the old house rather than dismantling it and only hiding it with the fort?

Not shaggy, and I'm not even sure if my answer is correct, but I've heard "somewhere" that as part of the original agreement they would keep the house standing.  I don't think they do anything to keep it from falling apart, but they don't do much of anything to keep it together either, eventually mother nature will win, if KI deems it so.  As enough time has passed, I doubt the original owner's family would care all the much, perhaps if there were legalize involved it could be changed at this point, but they've never really had a reason to tear it down since they stopped the old show on the train (I assume it was used for staging/breaks back in my youth as I remember "cowboys" storming out of the fort as part of the show.)

After riding the train on Friday and looking at the posts and theories on here I might have a pretty good idea of what might be happening. (This is based on speculation and opinion.)

I think the "Falling Trees" signs foreshadow more of what is to come than we think. While everyone is thinking new ride, I'm thinking expansion and development. Rivertown is the park's biggest potential for expansion (besides X-Base (still praying)). With the relocation of Funnel Cakes as well as WWC's line, it is my assumption that KI has a lot in store.

If you look at this picture, you can better understand what I'm talking about.

If you look at the edit you can see that most of the trees between the WWC pond and the train station have been completely removed leaving room for a plethora of possibilities. What Rivertown is mostly lacking is flat rides so having more family friendly attractions and different types of thrills would be a great addition. Aside from the flat rides, there could be possibly more food stands, restrooms and resting areas.

If you look to the right you will see that I outlined the defunct Crypt building just sticking out like a sore thumb. Cedar Fair has begun to experiment more with dark rides with Guardian at CW being introduced a little under a two years ago so I wouldn't out rule one at KI. If my theory was true, KI could give guests more of a theme park experience with the addition of a new dark ride to its already impressive roster of indoor rides. Though this isn't what I expect to see next year, I could count on it in the distant future as another phase.

Sort of ting in to my previous theory, there is still an impressive amount of real estate behind the building that could be used for a coaster if needed. One thing that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet is the possibility of an underground coaster. How cool would it be to have a Hades 360 type ride tunneling under the valley and emerge completely immersed in the woods? (And I wasn't thinking about The Beast when I meant that)

Finally if you look to the far left you can see Picnic Grove. From my experience of working at another popular Cincinnati attraction I can tell you that picnic areas take up a ton of space and are only truly used a couple times out of the season. Another thing is that picnic areas are cheaper to relocate if needed. So I could really see Picnic Grove playing a part in Rivertown (or even Planet Snoopy) expansion in the distant future. I could be completely off on this one but its just a thought.

So let me know what you think about my speculation!

KI makes a ton of money off company picnics and the Picnic Grove is generally pretty packed on weekends.

Here's my two cents.

Idk if y'all have already discussed this, (i'm really lazy and didn't read all 29 pages of this thread) but on Snapchat, Kings Island posted a couple of snaps that could be teasing the possibility of removing RFYLCB.

Here's a link to a Facebook post with screenshots from Coaster Studios.

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1597811953827128&id=1376820432592949

IF they decide to remove RFYLCB, I would take a guess at a Giga for 2017, because there's even more room for expanding that way.

If they do NOT decide to remove it, i would guess at either RMC or GCI or even possibly a dive coaster. (hey, they said FALLING trees)

Anyway, those are just my current thoughts.

Expect some Google Maps drawings in MS Paint soon!

EDIT: I read more, and it turns out y'all have already discussed the whole Snapchat thing.

Just wanted to note that train spielers have been saying pretty much exactly the same things about Fort Coney and Missouri Jane the last couple years, so I don't think that's any sort of hint. Also from a conversation with one of them I either overheard or participated in (I hate my memory), I've learned that they each come up with their own patter, often leaning heavily on what the others do, but with the freedom (within reason, presumably) to come up with their own jokes or featured facts to use.

My own interesting fact: The version of Cotton Eyed Joe used on the train is actually performed by a Swedish band, originally intended to lampoon the culture it portrays.
