CoasterOhio Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Finally got over to WWC queue to get progress pics. As I was taking them, a random guy asked me "what, you gonna build your own?" I wish. Hey! Let's go back to talking about Mystic Timber CONSTRUCTION, and not just off-topic junk about how to nickname it, or talking about Mean Streak... Anyways. It looks like our first footers are coming in. And It looks like they're making some big footer trenches with pop-up footers (See Diamondback's Hammerhead Turnaround for example.) Is what It will be looking like. 9
SonODiamondback Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Would theses be the footers for the lift hill ? BTW great pics ML Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk 3
CoasterOhio Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Those footers are the first Curved Drop. Notice the Curving of the trenches, especially in Pic #1 9
calakapepe Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 So will earth be filled in around the circular footings that will later be made? These grid patterns seem to be a fair 3 -6 in below the ground level 3
CP Maverick Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Most footers are attached to larger undersoil foundations. Under Valravn's lift, for example, is a huge slab foundation that has 4-6 footers on it. 4
CoasterOhio Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 With how much ground is still above it, more than likely it's stabilization of the footers. Especially with how much strain will be on the supports for the curved element right there, and possibly the entire ride. 3
calakapepe Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 They'd rather large sections shift together than individual footings shifting in their own likes over time... if it ever even happens *postulating* 3
KIfan73 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 It kind of seems like they have forever to get this thing done (April 2017), but I roughly figure 240 days (only ~160 if they take the weekends off). Not a lot of time to build an entire wooden coaster and have it ready to open to the public. 3
jdawg1998 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Am I the only one who has noticed "construction" spelled as "constuction" in the thread title? 6

calakapepe Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Not much. Just a little more concrete than usual by the drop area. 10
tjpavlik Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 The aerial from the unused train station came from a Cessna 172. I will try to get up periodically and snap a few shots. That shot was taken by my 9 year old with an I Phone, so i'm pretty sure I can do better with a real camera. 5
stashua123 Posted August 5, 2016 Author Posted August 5, 2016 Am I the only one who has noticed "construction" spelled as "constuction" in the thread title?I just noticed this as well. Oops! My bad! Going back to change it. 4
sixohdieselrage Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Noooooo. Keep it that way. Keep tally of how many people notice it. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk 6
Shawn Meyer Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 This might sound funny in a way, but in one of those pictures, it looks like construction workers are planting a garden instead of the footers. Lol 4

Not a lot of time to build an entire wooden coaster and have it ready to open to the public. And they have the winter to deal with. Luckily it's not the first time GCI has had to deal with winter construction so.. I think it will all end up okay.It is crazy how fast coasters can be built, esp. When we see how long it can take for road construction 7

LetsRide Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Hey, friends! This doesn't have anything to do with construction. It does, however, have to do with Mystic Timbers nonetheless. In a different thread/forum here, there has been much discussion about what the spoken nickname should be for Mystic Timbers. MT works well when typing, but it doesn't sound good when speaking. Seeing as so many people aren't huge fans of the name, "Mystic Timbers," we've been trying to come up with a nickname for the ride. And we still have more than eight months to come up with a nickname, because the ride won't open until April at the earliest. What's your favorite nickname? Please feel free to take the survey below! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6PSDS2Z Sorry to keep everyone waiting in such suspense! The results are in the link below. Gannersdaddy Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Hmmm. Come next Haunt, Plants vs Zombies on Coasters. It kinda writes itself... 5
CoasterOhio Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I discovered something on Diamondback when riding. You can also see this from potato works. There is a camera on top of the crypt building pointing towards the construction sight. I think this is our construction camera. Or also a security camera. But it may also be used for construction. 4
calakapepe Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 It will be sad to see either Banshee or Diamondback (webcams) go away. I wonder if they budgeted in a way to add a webcam rather than move one somewhere else 2
King Ding Dong Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 It will be sad to see either Banshee or Diamondback go away. I wonder if they budgeted in a way to add a webcam rather than move one somewhere elselol. I read the first sentence of your post before coasterohio's and was like WUT? 6
Shawn Meyer Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Have they positioned and turned on the camera yet? This I gotta see. 2
calakapepe Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I was honestly expecting the Diamondback webcam to serve as our construction cam this year. I think the last time a webcam for construction wasn't on the tower (waterpark addition aside) was WindSeeker 2
SonODiamondback Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 All I'm seeing is DB and Banshee cam Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk 2
