August 1, 20188 yr I think the more interesting question is "Will the latter do anything to have an effect on the former?" (see "Frontier World")
August 1, 20188 yr It actually may help both parks. This is clearly a destination park and is nearly equidistant between KI and CP at right about 2 hours drive. Many could include two or all three in their vacation. Did Universal hurt Disney or just make central Florida a more popular destination?
August 2, 20188 yr Good points there @King Ding Dong! More things to do give reasoning for multi day trips.
August 2, 20188 yr I don’t understand why anyone thinks it will hurt. There’s only gonna be a Sky wheel and a “ coaster” that isn’t a coaster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
August 2, 20188 yr Because families as a majority don’t plan trips based on roller coasters they base it on things for the whole family to do. Plus if it’s being touted as a destination park, then families usually do something 1-2x per year. If they choose OASIS over KI then that hurts KISent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
August 3, 20188 yr I'm interested in what KI and CP will do to compete with Planet Oasis. I feel it could bring some new and exciting things for both parks!
August 3, 20188 yr No. There are plenty of family attractions in Ohio that people are able to do for a day. Zoos, museums, down here in Cincinnati and Dayton there's Scene75, sporting events, outdoor activities...I find it highly unlikely many families will begin to choose this overly hyped, and in my opinion, most likely underwhelming entertainment center that seems to be an oversized, as I mentioned before, Scene75. Kings Island and Cedar Point are still the go-to destinations for major trips around the area. This will be a mere blip on the radar, in which a parent will wake up one day and think "Hey, let's all go to Planet Oasis". I may be pretty scathing on this development, but I really don't think it's going to be all that. Edit: I am also getting annoyed by news headlines describing it as "an amusement park four times the size of Disneyland". It is not an amusement park. And it is no way anywhere in relation to Disneyland. Coney Island is more like Disneyland than this will be.
August 3, 20188 yr This sounds like one of those projects where they’re lucky if the ground gets broken before investors start pulling out.
August 3, 20188 yr yeaaaah I mean I am in Central Ohio and haven't heard anything about it since they news broke. I can say that did plan on breaking ground in Oct I believe. I mean it sounds fun and stuff but its not gonna be a KI or CP. As kids grow older then want roller coasters. I don't see that hindering anyone's plans. CP and KI are on another level and they want those shows and rides for all ages.

They will just wait for the company to start having financial trouble then purchase it. You know the rest of the story from there.

Some of my Facebook friends have been sharing the "Disneyland" stories on my timeline, and I just have to roll my eyes.

September 18, 2025Sep 18 After 7 years of this being announced and being canceled, it's interesting to see what would have happened if it was built, my guess is it would have helped Ohio turn into a bigger tourists destination, and would give visitors to the state another park to visit, so it would give the state 3 parks, this being more of an Entertainment Park like they were aiming for, setting itself different than KI and CP. The Delaware County area is really booming, with Polaris there and this would have attracted even more people. What could have been, any other thoughts?
September 18, 2025Sep 18 I thought about this a couple of weeks ago. It's interesting now that they are constructing a new overpass just south of the proposed site to help with congestion. I doubt that Planet Oasis would have done any favors for the congestion. Quote Initial plans called for a giant Ferris wheel, a roller coaster, a saltwater lake with sand beaches and a boardwalk, an amphitheater, a conference center, an e-sports facility, nightclubs, indoor skydiving, an indoor water park, an indoor multi-sport facility, a shooting gallery, a butterfly museum, BMX biking, climbing, skateboarding, surfing, paddle boats, go-karting, virtual golf, laser tag, video games, a movie theater, bowling, 75 restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, a grocery store, a nutritional supplement lab, retail shops, and up to 5,000 hotel rooms, the Delaware Gazette reported. If only. https://www.knoxpages.com/2023/06/21/open-source-5-years-later-what-happened-to-planet-oasis-arcadia-in-delaware-county/
