Hello PKIers...

Has anyone heard a timeframe as to when IJ is expected to open?

I'm just wondering because I'm planning a trip up there the last week of May and I hope it is open by then.

Any help would be appreciated.

laugh.gif Thanks from a PC fanboy. lol

But the ride may soft open for a couple cycles before then so that the park can fine tune things and get some public opinion on the effects in order to fine tune them before the official unveiling in May.

May 19 is Media day and grand opening

Thanks. smile.gif I was planning on the weekend after that. So that would work good.

I'm planning on being there Thursday afternoon and all day Friday so hopefully I'll get a few rides on it.

To my knowledge, PKI has never soft opened a ride. Infact, aside from some water rides(and they may have even opened with the park), I believe IJST is the first ride to open after the park itself opens. I'm probably wrong though. It would be interesting if PKI had some soft openings for IJST, I'd certainly hope I was there on one of those days!

Yea, that is correct, FOF did open late in 2001. I know this, because I got stuck at Zephyr the whole first weekend and it was raining. I was the only driver mad.gif That was a bad start. Remember, like TR:TR, I'm sure IJST will have loads of downtime, so dont be disappointed if you go out and its not running.

And yet another reason why I get a season passes. Preview night and if the ride is not up and running on a particular visit I don’t get upset because I know I can come back.

Yea, but for some strange reason, people w/ gold passes expect us to treat them special and they get upset whenever a ride is down (esp if its new). Im not saying all of them are like that, doesnt sound like familyman is one of them, but some are and they got on my nerves!

I was at Busch Gardens Williamsburg over Labor Day weekend and season pass members there wore there passes around there necks for some reason. Anyone have any clue why they make them do this? I know this is off topic.

Is that really true? I know of a lot of people who totally misunderstood the whole Walk on Weekends concept last year and tried to cut in front of everyone on all sorts of different rides. You'd think that the people who got upset about a single ride being doing would be the people who drove 345,455,344 miles and paid $42.99 for a ticket.

Sadly, yes it is true. You do get the out of towners who are mad too, but season pass holders seem to think that b/c they are the "Gold Pass Holders", they are VIPs and should get everything and if one ride is down, they get soo upset. Most of the time, they are like "This ride is always down. Dont you guys know what you are doing?" or "Dont you know how to fix it." However, they say that about every ride that goes down, even if it hardly ever goes down.

Of course, but not when a lot of people all day everyday complaint about one ride or another. I wasnt just talking about fof you know. and i worked there for over 3 years, so i know what im talking about when i said that they complaint about rides not opening all the time or on time. they also complaint about other things like their kids not tall enough to ride. For example, fof height requirement along w/ Face/Off, TR:TR and Delirium is 54 in. yet, b/c they are gold pass holders, they same to think that they kids can ride anything (even though they are clearly not tall enough)

Beg pardon? FoF opening in 1996.

Yes, FOF did open in the year 1996, but in the 2001 season, it opened late b/c of the trains. They were not on the track and the ride was not ready to be open for public that season on time. Some rides dont open on time in the beginning of the season.

If you would've read the post before it you would see that we were talking about the new trains not when the ride opened.

Supposingly IJST is scheduled to open May 19th, with possibly media events/ soft openings about a week before. Although those dates can always get pushed back due to construction delays.

Are you kidding me???

The 19th is a Thursday. Why would they open the ride on a day when there isn't going to be anyone in the park. I think the 19th sounds right for media day and the ride should be operating on the 20th.

I normally hear park guests asking if they can test ride a ride that is down. I understand that they are anxious to ride the ride, but some people don't really take safety into consideration. Of course, people who sneak videos onto rides also fall under this category...

People who take onride video / pictures without permission are idiots, i highly recommend any guest who sees this please report it to in operator. Its people like that who cause accidents/ injuries on rides.
