Dan Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 It has now been confirmed that Days Of Thunder will be playing in the side B of Action F/X Theatre. The park has even installed a nice new sign for the ride too. Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 When happen and is it going to be the same thing or a 3d one. I think a 3D theater would be kinda of cool Quote
Mr. Christopher Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 Side B does not have the Iwerks 870 3D projector. I believe B only shows 2D shows. Quote
Captain Picard Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 I have not seen it, was it 3D when they had it before? Quote
Smurfs Enchanted Voyage Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 This is awsome news I always love Days of Thunder So Spongebob and Days of Thunder are playing at the Action Fx theater Awsome! Quote
Coney_man Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 I Remember while your riding your in the Pits And your seats jiggle up and down like crazy Quote
Skylab Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 Woot! This makes my day. Days Of Thunder has always been my favorite movie in Action F/X Theater. The James Bond one was ok, but DoT is still the best. And yes, Coney_man, the pits rule. Quote
docdude316 Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 My fiance never experienced DoT. I'll have to make sure that we go. When does it start? Quote
specialk141 Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 freakin awesome! i'm pumped.... its been way too long and i'vealways missed that ride.... maybe this will start a trend and perhaps 007 will return next year? maybe make some kind of rotation or something? That would be sweeeeet! Quote
KIBeast Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 I liked Days of Thunder when it was playing so I am glad that it has returned. I see this also as a chance for PKI to bring it in line with the "ride the movies" theme that seems to be the center of their marketing campaign. Quote
italianchef Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 That's all fine and dandy, but I wish they'd return James Bond: License to Thrill. That rocked! Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 ^ I'm willing to say that they intend to next year. It looks like they're going to cycle their FX rides on the B-Side like how Disney cycles their releases every 7 years or whatever. Quote
coasterbilly Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 that's a good idea to make changes every year cycling through different films, glad to hear Days of Thunder returns! Quote
Mr. Christopher Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 That's all fine and dandy, but I wish they'd return James Bond: License to Thrill. That rocked! Agreed. I have a feeling we'll be seeing it next season. Quote
DirtySteve Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 A reliable source tells me that DOT will be making its return this Saturday Quote
King Bowser Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 This is groovy news but I always wondered how can a James Bond film play in a Paramount park? Because Bond is a MGM property.... Quote
PKIVortex Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 They had a License to be able to Use the James Bond name. Remember Outer Limits was also not a Paramount name, as the name was licensed to the park to use. That is why the ride is just called Fight of Fear now, i'm not sure on who's part, but for some reason the license was not re-newd for Outer Limits. Quote
Mr. Christopher Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 They can do this because Iwerks SimEx has the rights to use MGM's 007 name. Quote
MovieGoddess9704 Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 This may be a stupid question but the movies shown in FX Theater are they movies that you have to thread through a projector or how does that work. I mean I work at a movie theater and I work as a projectionist sometimes so I know that a projector can be threaded in a minute or less but wouldn't it get a little tiresome for the projectionist. Someone enlighten me. Quote
King Bowser Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 I wonder if we will ever see Nicktoons 4D? But DOT is the king! Quote
MovieGoddess9704 Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 cool thanks. glad we don't use digital projectors, that would put me out of a job. Quote
Mr. Christopher Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 FX Theater uses a digital projector A theater of that size could not use a digital projector unless it was unbelievably huge and expensive. Both sides use a continuous Linear Loop projector. Side B uses an Iwerks 870, Side A uses an Iwerks 870 3D. Quote
Scooby_Doo Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 Days of Thunder is cool and all but James Bond was really cool. Quote
