But, I can only imagine what CF could do at KI if that large debt was paid and they were able to through some serious $$$ into KI! -Hauntguy

Let's pray....

Cedar Fair has always been a fan of the first rule of business, "Reinvest, reinvest, reinvest!!" But as a KI-goer, I must admit that I do worry that they'll make it a point to give KI second rate attractions to Cedar Point in order to make sure that CP remains the more powerful park. Is this a good business decision? No. But it's still unsettling to consider.

Only time will tell if Cedar Fair`s strategy of higher food prices pays off for them in helping to pay off their debt.

There have been many that have commented about the food pricing. It seems that some believe that it is only CF that is behind the current pricing, and I am not trying to defend CF in any way. But take a look at this from not too long ago:

I am just wondering if it is just the way that the industry is, not just this year, but the way it has been for many years, and we are just rather upset about it due to other prices going up as well, especially gas.

Well, for what it is worth, Cedar Point has changed the pricing of its soft drinks since the beginning of the season. But...a large (32 oz.) is now $3.99.

Sigh.

Much of the reason I still love and adore Holiday World (Free Parking, Free Drinks all day long). I don't know how they do it, but it is certainly enjoyable.

I thought this same thing. I'm starting to get seriously concerned as to what will be done. Although if Kinzel loves King's Island as much as it is said he does then we probably have nothing to worry about but until I see any action I will still be concerned as for the future of rides at King's Island. I hope it doesn't become neglected in terms of ride quality.

How could it get any more neglected than it was during Paramounts reign. I mean seriously I have already seen the improvements last year during my visits to Kings Island.

That's a good point. I don't think CF can do any worse than Paramount did.

Well, as long as CF doesnt go building some stupid roller coaster in a part of the park that doesnt match the theming of Coney Mall. [iT:ST]

I wouldn't limit it to just coasters considering the placement of TR:TR

I really don't think Tomb Raider looks so out of place. I realize that it's supposed to be an Asian temple or whatever, but let's be realistic... it looks like a cave, and caves were found all over the west.

I wander what they'll do to TR:TR next year???

With the whole before riding video and Paramount stuff.

=]

Well if they continue at the pace of Paramount with the Nick Universe Expansions they might as well just throw Rivertown out the window and retheme TR:TR as Legend of the Hidden Temple. There's a 90's throwback for ya. Man those kids sucked at putting together that silver monkey. ;)

I'm a 42 year old dad who wishes they'd bring back some of the original rides like The Mouse, The Rotor, The Bayern Curve and a few other rides. I think what the park is missing is more rides in general. They concentrate so much on roller coasters (which I love), that sometimes you wish there were just some simple basic flat rides to hop on from time to time. My kids loved the plane ride they tore out to install the three point shooting game.........and there have been other rides that get nixed here and there from time to time.

As for new rides, I wish there were a way to spice up WhiteWater Canyon. It's my favorite ride in terms of family fun. They installed new cannons, but you still really can hardly hit anyone with them. Who decides these things?

I am a very big fan of MrPKI's proposal of...

http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/5295/ki...ideideasqi2.jpg

esp. the Dive Coaster around the lake in Rivertown. It could dive right in front of the edge of the water or even dive right in the middle. And also make sure to remove as few trees as possible and keep it kinda hidden. That would be pretty awesome.

In that area labeled "5," it looks big enough for an S&S Screaming Swing. I think that would be a good ride for KI, they're a lot of fun and can easily be put in in the next few years. This is, of course, all speculation.

KI has more opportunity because of more land. Cedar Point is all out of land!

Lets all just sit back and think a minute.....Yeah it would be cool if Cf decided to move some rides and retheme them and in the spaces they occupied biuld new rides like a floorless B&M and a couple flats> that would be awesome. But lets evaluate the pros and cons a sec.

PROS>

1. moving rides like Topgun to X-base so it stays in the aircraft/military theme and Adventure Express to Rivertown by TR:TR to keep with the "wooded" theme sounds great. they both can be refitted with new euipment--hence make them better and maybe "longer". The stopping station shakes now at the end of TG and it can't withstand that much longer and everybodys argees that they can now change the "ending" of Adventure Express--with in my opinion should have been first all long.

2. Now since we have two spaces that have been left by AE and TG you can start adding rides. You have all of the land that was TG to build your Hyper/floorless/giga coaster right by SOB in Actionzone. Since it seems that the majority wants the B&M, why not put it in the wooded valley.makes sense right and then you could use AE slot for a couple of flat rides. Everybody's happy.

CONS>

1. MONEY!!!!! its going to cost a bunch to move rides to new places around the park. which leaves none for bringing or buying new rides at all. hence all the time it will take to move, redevelope land, rebuild or biuld newrides will drive us all nuts for many years. It would at least take five years to at least move and biuld existing rides and new ones. MUch Much money. and i doubt CF will ever let any go right now.

2. We also must look at the "existing" factor. Yeah some of the big rides have been here for many years, and who knows what Cf is thinking. they may instead just take out the ride and send it on its way. they may think instead of moving it, why not just get rid of it. And i dont speak for everyone here but i was highly ****ed when KC and KCKC were taken out and never setup again. i would kill over that if they did it again. they reprofile The Beast when it needs it why not TG,AE and Vortex? Im sure maintenace on these rides are great. but they are what makes KI what it is!

So, we all need to look at the big picture, yeah the park needs some improvments, new things and keep the themes going. A new coaster, no matter what they choose to get if they decide what in the next years to come would be great. i would love to see Rivertown get something new or used, out or from within the park, and retheme some of the rides not to mention redo and paint and give some new euipment to them to keep them around forever so my kids can experience what i have for the past 25 years. But whatever they do its gonna take years and lots of moolah to do what we want them to do.

sounds resonable.but where would it go in rivertown?AE is small enough to fit there, somewhere, but a coaster that mimics Maverick is going to have to have some land and the only option there would be in the woods next to Beast. if you do that then i think moving TG to X-Base should be done too. then that land could hold the next coaster or whatever.

CP is not even close to being out of land. This has been a common mistake since the mid 80's.

I don't see KI moving a coaster from one part of the park to another. The costs associated with moving a coaster are large. From a financial standpoint, moving a coaster to use the land it currently sits on doesn't make sense.
