Lin
I was at KI the day the kid fell...actually was standing in line when it happened...I am happy they are doing a thorough inspection on these kids of rides cause of what happened that that little girl. I hope its opened when I am there in a couple of weeks, but if not it will be ok too. That reminds me of the time the manager of the store I used to work at told me about how she was at Kings Island when "The Bat fell off the track and all those people died," and that she saw it happen. I just stared at her, slack-jawed. There's no proper response to lying insanity, really. I couldn't even muster a sarcastic "oh, you must have been terribly traumatized," or a genuine "you're dumb, it didn't fall off the track," I was so shocked at her ... everything. Same reason the media stretches stories; just the shock value of it, hope to make a name for themself, plain out stupidity, the I heard it from my wife's cousin's best friends niece's sisters friend's mother's brother crap. Oh the tall tales I've heard of the horrific accidents at KI.
Pagoda Gift Shop
Here's a recent new article. I wouldn't imagine Drop Zone will reopen until after the state releases their results from the investigation. After the investigation ends, there will probably be recommendations which will be carried out by all the parks with Intamin Drop Towers. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.d...D=2007707030449
CoastersRZ
But see, the funny thing is that apparantely all the Intamin drop rides at the other Cedar Fair parks besides Kings Island have reopened. Why our Drop Zone has yet to reopen and the others have, we may never know. I`m sure that KI hopes to have the ride operating again as soon as possible. Just wondering because my friends are heading over to the park tomorrow and I told them I would see if it was open yet.

jondrewfoo
i thought i read something about the coincidence, that intamin reccommended a part that had nothing to do with the incident for the rides, and that Kings Island jsut happened to not receive it yet. The Interpreter
Craig Ross of Kings Island said that in a press interview about the reopening of Son of Beast.
loginmike
I enjoy the ride and look forward to riding again. But I am more concerned about the condition of the girl. I wonder why they are not giving any more detail of her condition?
DiSab
Oh the tall tales I've heard of the horrific accidents at KI. Tell me about it. I had a co-worker tell me a few months ago that SoB derailed and three people died - which is why it was still closed (at the time). I told her that if she could find me the news article about it, I would pay her $10. Needless to say, she hasn't got back to me yet, and I still have my $10. And recent Federal legislation in the medical area makes privacy a supreme consideration in health care.

Now THAT takes some intelligence right there. xD I'm waiting for some drowning rumor because of the pool being closed down for quite a while today for lifeguard breaks and chemical testing. The only thing I've heard about the girl is that they were able to reattach one foot, but the other was too badly damaged. She's in stable condition. This was a report from MSNBC.com Should still be able to find it.

Cortney
I was at KI on Wednesday and didn't hear it or anyone screaming on it. I wasn't going to ride it anyways....but didn't pay any attention to it if it was working.

Many rides like Power Tower and Demon Drop are still open because they are different kind of drop rides. Power Tower isn't intamin and I don't believe it has cables and Demon Drop is Intamin, but doesn't have cables.

Power Tower isn't intamin and I don't believe it has cables and Demon Drop is Intamin, but doesn't have cables. From www.screamscape.com... (7/4/07) We’ve been sent reports that the Drop Zone attractions at Canada’s Wonderland and Kings Dominion have also reopened along with last weeks reports about the Great America and Carowinds rides also reopening. I can only assume that Kings Island has also reopened their Drop Zone tower as well. Can anyone confirm this for sure? (7/5/07) A park guests tells us that as of July 3rd Drop Zone at Kings Island was still closed, though the towers have apparently reopened at all the rest of the Cedar Fair parks at this time. This is likely to do with the close proximity of the park to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom where the accident took place two weeks ago. The news report about the reopening of Son of Beast (see below) mentions they may reopen Drop Zone soon however. I think this is what CoastersRZ was referring to, not Power Tower and Demon Drop.
