  1. The new family thrill attraction will be some Snicker themed dark ride. Imagine the ride cars
  2. I still have my 20% off games coupon to use so I may use that for this game and try my luck at it some time soon. Thankful to all the folks at the park doing their best to keep things running as best they can.
  3. I really like the idea of turning SC into a winter themed park. Call it "Snow City" to play on the Soak City name.
  4. This right here is a prime example of part of the problem People don't care because they see the item/product in question as "just" this or "just" that and blame the applicable company for not doing enough to stop it. People NEED to care. If everyone cared even a little, I can promise you there would be significantly LESS theft. I'm not saying that there would be zero theft. But if people actually cared about theft, no matter what it is that is being taken, there wouldn't be such a rampant issue everywhere. I am completely fatigued by this apathy problem in our society. It's cool not to care? I will never understand that. Everyone should care. Theft is bad for everyone and ultimately comes crashing down on the honest folk in some way or another which then in turn ruins an experience/opportunity. You can't catch everyone. I would know from first hand experience. But we can, as a collective, call people out. I will say that from the rooftops. If you see it happening? Call them out. Make an example of them if staff won't step in. At the very least they will be seen in the act and it will, inevitably, catch up to them.
  5. I actually had that very thought that they could have had a premium seating option for Friday and Saturday utilizing the IR. Could have made it a whole package including food/drinks/snacks, a souvenir of some kind and of course the best seat in the house. It definitely would have sold out and probably been worth whatever the upcharge would have been to be in AC, away from the insane crowds and had the best viewing experience available.
  6. I know you are correct. It is just frustrating and more than likely they won't invest in those measures until as you said, it starts hitting their pockets harder. Since I am not on FB, no, I did not see that. However, I am sadly not surprised. There seems to be a major shift in culture where wrong is right and right is wrong and it has naturally applied to that sort of backwards mentality in these third spaces. Incredibly sad that people act this way. Absolute garbage behavior.
  7. Alright. So my fiancé and I decided to brave the crowds of the park Friday night for literally no reason other than to see the fireworks display. It has been many years since I have been at a park on the 4th and figured why not. It would have been crowded literally anywhere that night that had a display, so it was a "pick your environment" type of deal. I will just say this. Never again. I knew it was going to be crowded. I knew it was going to be insane. And to some degree, that can be worth putting up with when the product meets or surpasses the expectations. But my two biggest complaints? Lets just start with the fact that post COVID, people's spatial awareness is completely GONE. The amount of grown adults running into each other without saying excuse me and the amount of un supervised children literally running around and acting crazy just....I can't. Absolutely ZERO regard for anyone around them. I have no tolerance for rudeness and will very loudly announce this with no hesitation. It was around 2130HRS when we decided to take a seat up against the main entrance near the lockers and the gift shop because I felt that was the safest spot to be away from the absolute insanity closer to the fountains. Well, I was right until I was wrong. People started clamoring looking for places to sit or stand and what not. And while I get it, the last straw for me came when a woman with her child got right next to me, bent over IN A DRESS showing everything absolutely no one wanted to see and then proceeded to sit down next to me without asking if that was ok. Her young child then proceeded to kick me in the arm and no apology was given for this action-all the while two loud teenage girls were fighting over a wall outlet on the other side of my fiancé to charge their phones. After getting kicked in the arm by said toddler, I stood up, yelled a few profanities ( not sorry ) and proceeded to leave the park. We intended to still see the fireworks, but we opted to sit in the grassy area in front of the entrance. This was all fine and good for the most part as at least there was room to breath and a slight breeze, but of course kids were running around into people and no supervision to correct said behavior. I knew leaving the parking lot post show would be a nightmare as stated above, leaving any fireworks show from anywhere I have ever been has always been an experience in and of itself. But this is where lot attendants are needed. Big events like this ABSOLUTELY NEED to have staff out in the lots guiding and directing traffic to get things moving because sitting in a standstill for an HOUR is unacceptable. I was thinking we would at least be inching along out of the lot, but nope. Literally just sat there. And the amount of people getting impatient pulling dangerous stunts to get out and cutting people off....again...need some traffic control for these large events. Even if it has to be outside help. For safety as well as throughput. I realize this may just be a sign of the times ahead. I had a moment while we were inside the park thinking to myself "the appearance of this place really give SF vibes and not CF vibes" because the park has truly let so much slide. The amount of half-clothed, inappropriate attire I saw running amuck gave "trashy" vibes in a way that I can't quite articulate without sounding absolutely judgmental. I'm all for freedom of expression, but there are limits and the park just felt like a cheap sellout in the way that I bet annual Geauga Lake patrons felt when their beloved park sold out to SF. Unrelated to the holiday weekend but related to my above sentence, we were at the water park a few weeks ago when we saw something incredibly disturbing. It was an incredibly inappropriate tattoo that should have NEVER been allowed to be seen in a public space due to what it stands for. And I realize this individual more than likely came into the park fully clothed and staff wouldn't have seen it upon entry. But the fact is, the tattoo was large and on full display for all to see and staff had every right to ask this person to leave as that tattoo absolutely violated a park policy. The fact that this man was not ejected from the park baffles me. And this just leans into the standards being so low that the bar is in hell at this point. I miss the days when things felt more together. Now it seems like anything goes and no one is able to stop it. My memories of this event from 2010-2012 are vastly different than what this past Friday showed. So were the fireworks good? Yes. The park did a great job. But after the fiasco that it was, we won't be attending this event again. And I really hope in the future the park finds a way to better manage the parking lot situation at the very least. Anyone else go and have a similar or better/worse experience?
  8. I know they wouldn't do this amidst the budget cuts, but man do I wish they would hire actual loss prevention associates. Plain clothes at that. Before I got into law enforcement I did LP for Best Buy and it was always so much fun catching people who thought no one was watching. Because if I learned anything at all during my time doing LP, it's not "just" a Coke, its not "just" a pack of stickers or some other small item. It's not "just". Every small thing that someone takes the liberty of stealing will find its way in cost back on honest consumers. And this is why we see the silly song and dance about the water cups. This small yet convenient act of kindness is now made more inconvenient due to the dishonest folks stealing pop. It is, in fact, a big deal. And with how affordable it is now to get a drink wristband or season pass add on, why the heck does anyone feel the need to steal? I realize there will never be a clear answer to this problem amongst many others, but wow. Also, this theft of time/product is applicable to line jumping. We already know this has been a major issue for years now and seems to be getting arguably worse. They need to have posted security rounds in and around Orion as I am sure most of you are aware there is one spot in particular line jumpers think they are being so smart about. When one enters Fast Lane line, right inside the hanger, people think they are being swift cutting the line from that point. I have seen it way too many times. If they can't have a physical body making rounds in that general area, they need to install surveillance cameras there and any other problem area. If the park doesn't want to pay adequate bodies to provide regular physical security, they could just do cameras and dispatch someone as necessary to those areas. I realize that might make too much sense and sometimes, if I have learned anything through my career, things that make too much sense don't often get implemented
  9. Looks like they want to ensure everything is up to speed for the holiday weekend. Good to see that.
  10. Put something a bit longer like this beauty in Vortex's plot and I think we would have an incredible heavy hitter that we desperately need. Not only would it be a smash hit, but like I have said many times over, this just feels like the right move and a proper nod to the legacy of Vortex. We are lacking inversions in our park and since I have heard nothing short of great reviews about how smooth/re-ridable Siren's Curse is, this seems like a good move for Cedar Flags to go with. Hey, I can dream right?
  11. So if and when they make the announcement for this supposed 2026 attraction, do you think we will hear about it around the time they start the 2026 pass sales?
  12. I would just go ahead with the mindset that it will be busy. It's a holiday on a Friday. Granted something tells me Saturday will be much busier than Friday, I would expect both nights to be reasonably crowded.
  13. I actually do miss SoB as both riding it and the incredibly loud and prominent presence it had. Of course, I was much younger during my time riding SoB and my body could take the violence better. I think if I were to hop in a time machine and ride it now, I would be singing a different tune. But I'd like to think that had the ride actually successfully survived itself, there would have been some extensive work done on it over the years if not a complete RMC refab. Other sounds I enjoy: -The Monster's many hydraulic motors humming in sync with one another once they all fire up ( miss this sound but I am happy they are working to get it back up and running this year! ) -The lift motor inside The Bat's station. It's a lot more quiet since they've drastically slowed down the lift. But I remember it being louder during it's time as Top Gun/Flight deck. I also know the main bull gear is different than the one it had previously. It has spokes now whereas the old one was solid. -Vortex-miss everything about it, but to stay on topic, I miss all the different sounds it produced. The continuous sounds of the lift hill, the much loved Arrow anti-rollbacks noise, the sound of the brake fins slowing down the train the way an Arrow can only produce, the rattle of the structure while sitting almost under it having a slice of LaRosa's -Firehawk-the incredibly loud lift and anti-rollbacks, the whooshing it made while gliding through the layout -Drop Tower's lift motor hum and the loud clank when the catch car releases the gondola -Delirium's monstrously loud swing arm coupled with the slight high-frequency whining noise -Sol Spin's "turkey gobble" brakes I'm sure I can think of more. These just came to the top of my mind. Oh-honorable mention: The old IS fountains. Not only did they look more grand, they also were much more commanding simply by the amount of water you could hear being pushed through the pedestals. If you closed your eyes when you walked by on a quiet morning or evening at the park, it almost sounded like a small waterfall. Not to mention the breeze carried that larger amount of water better and would cool you off on a hot day as you walked by.
  14. That's when those of us who are honest with our purchases make a scene loudly announcing the thievery taking place. If no one will hold them accountable...well...it takes a village... People have become to soft and complacent with letting others take advantage of the system. Who care's if it's a drink refill, the point is...it's still theft of something that wasn't paid for. Make an example of them.
  15. I fear that the darkest days are upon us. I'm usually an optimist but all I feel I've read lately from the chain has been about cutting this and getting rid of that. It's like a game of Fruit Ninja but with the chain as a whole. Mega-chains are, IMO, never a good idea. It diminishes quality and seems to hurt the parks as a whole as they lose their identity and the people behind them who make them what they are. This feels like they could SFWOA/GL the entire park system if they aren't careful. Might sound a bit dramatic, but I really don't have much faith in the SF model and so far they haven't exactly left a good impression thus far. I hope the growing pains aren't here to last and I hope I'm wrong.
  16. We also gave it a try this past Sunday. Didn't participate in any of it last season, but having observed and compared, this year definitely seems to have some improvements. As per usual though, there are some improvements going forward I would suggest if they decide to do it again next year. I concur with @Tr0y about the poutine fries. That was actually the item my fiancé and I were looking forward to the most. The meat itself was tasty, but no gravy, the curds were mid and the fries were sadly not fresh and hot. The wagyu beef slider was my personal favorite item that we tried. The charcuterie for two was...sad. The cost and the presentation did not match. Handing someone a to-go style container with the items inside it felt like I was at a hospital cafeteria. Not to mention they forgot our bread. I went back to retrieve that and they were nice enough to give us more than the usual amount, however, it was a bit tough to chew. The bread should have been kept in a warmer so it stayed fresh. We gave the dark chocolate raspberry dessert a shot. It had a nice flavor, like that of a sorbet. The texture was strange though. The raclette was nice. Bread was warm and soft and the red pepper jam spread was tasty. The free dessert from Sweet Spot was our favorite. Really refreshing treat on a hot day. The mousse itself tasted fresh and the little cake bit was a nice touch. The highlight of the whole event was the mime. I am almost certain the same gentlemen was the one I remember seeing years ago at the park for a different event doing mime things. If I am wrong, then this guy has a doppelganger. But he was a delight to say the least. The live music was decent and they played some recognizable classic rock tunes. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves despite some of the food items not scratching up to what they should have been. It was a nice relaxing evening despite the heat. Neither of us are wine drinkers so I can't comment on the wine itself.
  17. This just confirms that RMC is re-doing Racer. Duh!
  18. Yeah of course! I try to look at things from all angles as far as thoughts on new experiences. Everyone is entitled to their own enjoyment or even lack there of for that matter. Interesting enough, if anyone here was a fan of Pipeline Paradise, there is a Flo-Rider in Carmel, IN at a water park simply called "The Waterpark". I plan on giving it a try this year since I never got a chance do do the one at Soak City.
  19. Alright. So my fiancé and I finally took a ride on River Racers yesterday afternoon and yeah...it was honestly...mid... Here is my personal analysis: -Color scheme is fun, bright and probably the most exciting part of the whole experience to be honest. It gives early Y2K Action Zone vibes, but not in a bad way. Maybe because I am someone who enjoys the bright "pop" and loud colors that scream excitement and invite you to get in. I am a product of my time I suppose. -The "kaleidoscope" section of the slide was neat to see and I wish that there had been more of those kinds of light tricks along the way...but since the slide itself was already so short, that wouldn't have been possible without making the entire experience enclosed. -I will emphasize the shortness. This slide was just too dang short ya'll. We chose to wait for this since it's new and of course we were curious, but also...this slide did not fall into the "short but sweet" category that some rides tend to offer. This thing really could have had some serious wow factor to it had they decided to add a few more uphill launch moments or even some speed sections to really make it feel like you're on a true "water coaster". -Like many of you have already stated, other than the initial uphill launch, this was such a slowwwwww ride. Even with two adults inside this thing, I could not get over how slow it was after the initial launch. -The only good thing about the ending of the slide was that since there were two of us adults in the raft, we got a really decent splashdown, but I saw that with smaller and single riders, there wasn't enough of a splash factor for them. I think a nice waterfall at the end of the slide would have made for a nice effect to guarantee at least one good soaking for everyone before hitting the splashdown. Overall, I know we both wished that this slide was more than what it offered. It's fine. But definitely not the caliber of slide that Soak City deserves. Curiosity has been quelled, but a re-ride will only happen if it's practically a walk on for us. We''ll stick to Mondo Monsoon and the body slides.
  20. They literally re-purposed a lot of the stuff during the Crypt's tenure, so I don't see it being any different if they were to do the same with a new attraction. Even if that means using lighting tricks to highlight new focal points, I can't see it being much different than before other than better upgraded theming/adding to what is already there.
  21. We saw it again on Saturday and I will say that I did notice a few little extra improvements this season over last year's show. I noticed that the use of the screens were better implemented during the different segments of the show. It added a nice touch and made it a bit more immersive. Mr Yang also added a couple of other small tricks that I noted that were different from last season and I will definitely say that the bubbles were turned up to 10 this year compared to last. So while it was overall the same show, it had a few noted improvements from last year and it was just as fun and entertaining as ever. Glad they brought it back!
  22. Remember that just because you feel you’re right doesn’t mean you are. You can be correct to yourself. That’s your opinion and you know what they say about opinions… And remember, anger is a secondary emotion. Don’t let that eat you up especially when there are literally much BIGGER actual issues going on in the world right now other than obsessing over one ride and making it your entire schtick on this post. Let’s move on from that shall we? The past is gone. Step up or step aside.
  23. You just keep repeating yourself over and over...that nothing will ever compare and that you'd buy the theming and Cedar Flags sucks...stay mad then I guess...the rest of us will just look to the future. Deuces.
  24. So which is it? If they put something lame in there you won't renew/attend the park anymore or is it that if they put ANYTHING in there you won't do the thing? There simply won't be another Huss Giant Top Spin occupying that building. It was one of a kind and for good reason. I understand being passionate about something and missing something, but this seems a bit extreme. The ride has been gone almost 15 years and granted yes, it was a great attraction when it operated under the TR theming/programing, it also now just sits empty as nothing. You would prefer an empty space to sit and be barely utilized once a season than have a possibly fun/entertaining attraction take it's place? No one on this side of the gate knows exactly what the 2026 plans are and there is no concrete evidence that there is anything going in the TR building. There is purely speculation. And of course, SOMEONE knows the answers but are not permitted to share yet. This would be like me saying that if they put something I didn't prefer in The Vortex plot I wouldn't come back. And I am sure there are people that strongly feel that way about XYZ things. That's fine. But life goes on and there are other hobbies a person can find to occupy their free time. I have other hobbies outside of roller coasters that I care deeply about where if I found myself wanting to take a break from this park or any park, I would be fine. I haven't reached that point yet, but the thing I am trying to say is that it's ok to walk away from things if you no longer find value or happiness in it anymore.
  25. I think you're going to have to keep dreaming as I doubt that is going to be obtainable to anyone at this point in the game.
