Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
DJSkyFoxx replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I fear that the darkest days are upon us. I'm usually an optimist but all I feel I've read lately from the chain has been about cutting this and getting rid of that. It's like a game of Fruit Ninja but with the chain as a whole. Mega-chains are, IMO, never a good idea. It diminishes quality and seems to hurt the parks as a whole as they lose their identity and the people behind them who make them what they are. This feels like they could SFWOA/GL the entire park system if they aren't careful. Might sound a bit dramatic, but I really don't have much faith in the SF model and so far they haven't exactly left a good impression thus far. I hope the growing pains aren't here to last and I hope I'm wrong. -
We also gave it a try this past Sunday. Didn't participate in any of it last season, but having observed and compared, this year definitely seems to have some improvements. As per usual though, there are some improvements going forward I would suggest if they decide to do it again next year. I concur with @Tr0y about the poutine fries. That was actually the item my fiancé and I were looking forward to the most. The meat itself was tasty, but no gravy, the curds were mid and the fries were sadly not fresh and hot. The wagyu beef slider was my personal favorite item that we tried. The charcuterie for two was...sad. The cost and the presentation did not match. Handing someone a to-go style container with the items inside it felt like I was at a hospital cafeteria. Not to mention they forgot our bread. I went back to retrieve that and they were nice enough to give us more than the usual amount, however, it was a bit tough to chew. The bread should have been kept in a warmer so it stayed fresh. We gave the dark chocolate raspberry dessert a shot. It had a nice flavor, like that of a sorbet. The texture was strange though. The raclette was nice. Bread was warm and soft and the red pepper jam spread was tasty. The free dessert from Sweet Spot was our favorite. Really refreshing treat on a hot day. The mousse itself tasted fresh and the little cake bit was a nice touch. The highlight of the whole event was the mime. I am almost certain the same gentlemen was the one I remember seeing years ago at the park for a different event doing mime things. If I am wrong, then this guy has a doppelganger. But he was a delight to say the least. The live music was decent and they played some recognizable classic rock tunes. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves despite some of the food items not scratching up to what they should have been. It was a nice relaxing evening despite the heat. Neither of us are wine drinkers so I can't comment on the wine itself.

This just confirms that RMC is re-doing Racer. Duh!

Yeah of course! I try to look at things from all angles as far as thoughts on new experiences. Everyone is entitled to their own enjoyment or even lack there of for that matter. Interesting enough, if anyone here was a fan of Pipeline Paradise, there is a Flo-Rider in Carmel, IN at a water park simply called "The Waterpark". I plan on giving it a try this year since I never got a chance do do the one at Soak City.

Alright. So my fiancé and I finally took a ride on River Racers yesterday afternoon and yeah...it was honestly...mid... Here is my personal analysis: -Color scheme is fun, bright and probably the most exciting part of the whole experience to be honest. It gives early Y2K Action Zone vibes, but not in a bad way. Maybe because I am someone who enjoys the bright "pop" and loud colors that scream excitement and invite you to get in. I am a product of my time I suppose. -The "kaleidoscope" section of the slide was neat to see and I wish that there had been more of those kinds of light tricks along the way...but since the slide itself was already so short, that wouldn't have been possible without making the entire experience enclosed. -I will emphasize the shortness. This slide was just too dang short ya'll. We chose to wait for this since it's new and of course we were curious, but also...this slide did not fall into the "short but sweet" category that some rides tend to offer. This thing really could have had some serious wow factor to it had they decided to add a few more uphill launch moments or even some speed sections to really make it feel like you're on a true "water coaster". -Like many of you have already stated, other than the initial uphill launch, this was such a slowwwwww ride. Even with two adults inside this thing, I could not get over how slow it was after the initial launch. -The only good thing about the ending of the slide was that since there were two of us adults in the raft, we got a really decent splashdown, but I saw that with smaller and single riders, there wasn't enough of a splash factor for them. I think a nice waterfall at the end of the slide would have made for a nice effect to guarantee at least one good soaking for everyone before hitting the splashdown. Overall, I know we both wished that this slide was more than what it offered. It's fine. But definitely not the caliber of slide that Soak City deserves. Curiosity has been quelled, but a re-ride will only happen if it's practically a walk on for us. We''ll stick to Mondo Monsoon and the body slides.

Kings Island to add “family thrill” attraction in 2026
DJSkyFoxx replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
They literally re-purposed a lot of the stuff during the Crypt's tenure, so I don't see it being any different if they were to do the same with a new attraction. Even if that means using lighting tricks to highlight new focal points, I can't see it being much different than before other than better upgraded theming/adding to what is already there. -
We saw it again on Saturday and I will say that I did notice a few little extra improvements this season over last year's show. I noticed that the use of the screens were better implemented during the different segments of the show. It added a nice touch and made it a bit more immersive. Mr Yang also added a couple of other small tricks that I noted that were different from last season and I will definitely say that the bubbles were turned up to 10 this year compared to last. So while it was overall the same show, it had a few noted improvements from last year and it was just as fun and entertaining as ever. Glad they brought it back!

Kings Island to add “family thrill” attraction in 2026

Remember that just because you feel you’re right doesn’t mean you are. You can be correct to yourself. That’s your opinion and you know what they say about opinions… And remember, anger is a secondary emotion. Don’t let that eat you up especially when there are literally much BIGGER actual issues going on in the world right now other than obsessing over one ride and making it your entire schtick on this post. Let’s move on from that shall we? The past is gone. Step up or step aside. -

You just keep repeating yourself over and over...that nothing will ever compare and that you'd buy the theming and Cedar Flags sucks...stay mad then I guess...the rest of us will just look to the future. Deuces. -
Kings Island to add “family thrill” attraction in 2026

So which is it? If they put something lame in there you won't renew/attend the park anymore or is it that if they put ANYTHING in there you won't do the thing? There simply won't be another Huss Giant Top Spin occupying that building. It was one of a kind and for good reason. I understand being passionate about something and missing something, but this seems a bit extreme. The ride has been gone almost 15 years and granted yes, it was a great attraction when it operated under the TR theming/programing, it also now just sits empty as nothing. You would prefer an empty space to sit and be barely utilized once a season than have a possibly fun/entertaining attraction take it's place? No one on this side of the gate knows exactly what the 2026 plans are and there is no concrete evidence that there is anything going in the TR building. There is purely speculation. And of course, SOMEONE knows the answers but are not permitted to share yet. This would be like me saying that if they put something I didn't prefer in The Vortex plot I wouldn't come back. And I am sure there are people that strongly feel that way about XYZ things. That's fine. But life goes on and there are other hobbies a person can find to occupy their free time. I have other hobbies outside of roller coasters that I care deeply about where if I found myself wanting to take a break from this park or any park, I would be fine. I haven't reached that point yet, but the thing I am trying to say is that it's ok to walk away from things if you no longer find value or happiness in it anymore. -

I think you're going to have to keep dreaming as I doubt that is going to be obtainable to anyone at this point in the game. -

I would only be upset if they put something small/uninspiring in The Vortex plot, personally. But as far as what they do with TR:TR/Crypt building, almost anything would be better than its current use-which is pretty lackluster and sad. I wouldn't be opposed to the dark ride/coaster concept as I've stated before. If done right, it could be a really fun time and again, as mentioned, if it holds any candle to what my experience was with The Dark Knight coaster at SFGA was many years ago, it would be a welcome edition to add something different. It would liven up that desolate spot again. I know there are many other ideas for use of that building, but it has been mostly vacant for so long that it would be about time to see it actually put to use instead of a seasonal Haunt display. They could re-use some of the current theming in there and integrate it into the dark ride/coaster type deal. Tie in some of the former history as much as they can without infringing on any past copyrights. Just trying to be optimistic. -

I realize feelings do no garner any movement when it comes to these major business matters, but I think the real issue here is that long time fans of the park still feel the absence of Vortex. Regardless of whether you loved or hated it, it was a big coaster with inversions that had a modest height restriction. It fit the bill as a thrill ride with high capacity, but one that allowed smaller riders to step into it pretty quickly if desired. We don't have a looping coaster with a 48" height requirement anymore, so families don't have that perfect balance of thrilling and accommodating for their younger kids who are ready for a bigger thrill that happens to have inversions. Vortex somehow kind of tied that area together and made it feel whole. And again, I know this really holds no bars in any of what is currently happening in this new business model. I'm just pointing out that the absence of a legacy attraction that was super accommodating and thrilling is still felt today and even those who are new to KI often ask what stood there before. It's just a massive plot of land to those who don't know, but to everyone else it's a somber reminder of what has yet to be fulfilled. I realize they have no need to build anything with a hurry. We probably won't see anything take that plot for awhile. Just pointing out a perspective that feels silently shared. -
The color of the base around the floral bell looks like it matches the Eiffel Tower. In most cases I would agree that it seems off, but it actually helps it pop out against the greenery and compliment the tower IMO.

How do we know what The Beast would like? Maybe he enjoys cookie dough and sprinkles. Maybe The Beast would want some whimsy too. Just a misunderstood guy trying to find some happiness too other than the darkness

Well. No way I would have known. I've never been. I was just making a jest anyway... -
My immediate thought wasn't Outpost 5. It was Johnny 5 from Short Circuit

The "behind the scenes" of each bar within the park. Watch the delivery trucks unload the stock into the warehouse and see where it's stored. The lanyards would have little kegs attached to them. "Boozestock 2026". Might even get to work a shift at no extra charge! -
Might as well make those 5 minutes of being alive count for something!
-
Thanks so much! That is one thing that I wish the app/main website were better at being transparent about.
-
Looking forward to hopefully giving this a try this coming Sunday!

Ok all, what are the dates/times for the current shows? Specifically, Gazillion Bubbles and Trailblazers Xtreme? Thanks!
