It's not my favorite coaster in the park by any means, but I know it is a favorite among many others. It holds a more nostalgic place in my mind than anything. It would be a pretty great loss though seeing that would eliminate yet another one of our already dwindling list of inverting coasters and it is the more intense of our two launching coasters. So one-two punch there if this rumor comes to fruition. So at this time the rumors of The Bat or FoF are on the radar of possible removals by the sounds of it. And either one of those would be a sad loss. Not enjoying this theme of removal rumors vs theme of replacement rumors. Because at this time we have no idea what our 2026 addition will be.

Marineland Canada no more?
DJSkyFoxx replied to Orion-XL200's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Completely agree with this sentiment. I went to Marineland once years back when I was visiting my family in Canada. I was truly not impressed by the overall vibe of the park. It was sad, felt overgrown and left a lot to be desired. This was still when most of the rides were operational and I can gladly say that I did get to ride Dragon Mountain more than once and the awesome Sky Screamer launch tower. But none of the rides made up for the sadness in those animal's lives and their pathetic enclosures. Kiska dying alone in that sad tank broke my heart. She deserved better. All of the animals that have died and currently live there deserve(d) better. Human greed never ceases to disappoint me. -
Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge

Cool story. But the point is, why would you have a candy themed park without candy themed rides? Doesn't matter how its done. Which is the point I was making. -
Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge

But a key takeaway from your example is that it is HERSHEY Park. They will obviously advertise their brand throughout the park as it is a park mostly themed to what they sell. -

I wonder what logo sponsors stickers they will use for the eyeballs? -
This did not disappoint

Lookin' like the back of a beater 2003 Honda Civic with all those stickers -
I need a logo design for the Zimmerman's Pockets charity. @BeeastFarmer you know what to do here

"Ok so that's one Whopper with extra cheese and onion, small order of fries and a medium drink? Yes? Ok that order comes to the amount of $81.97. Will that be credit or meal plan?"

Something you’d be excited about years ago but not now?

Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge

That was a tough read. Not surprising, but its really deplorable. Funny how it's always the boots on the ground that get hosed but of course the CEO and upper management never see a pay cut or feel the burn. These people never seem to realize that they wouldn't even have a job if every employee that actually works directly at these parks chose not to show up. If it were possible for them to unionize, I'd say fight for that. Lowering pay is just going to create more staff shortages and less incentive to do the job the way they are expected to. Who wants to run circles all day long being yelled at, assaulted and demeaned for less money than before? No benefits. No protections. Nah. Granted I realize most of these jobs are filled by high school/college and retirees, but that doesn't mean they deserve any less respect for what they do all day. Long hours in the heat, rain, cold just to make sure you are safe on a ride. To make sure you are safe in the park. To make sure you have food and drink. And less quality experience for the consumer. Sounds like a solid plan. But lets continue to line the pockets of those way above the ones that actually bust their tails to keep these places open. -
Heck yeah! You are most welcome! I look forward to see what you come up with. I mean, seriously though. A normal Top Spin could be a great fit for in there. A thrilling dark ride with theming that would blend well into the area and keep the story going. There could be tie-ins with it's neighbor Mystic Timbers. It would be a perfect revival of that building and bring back some much needed thrills in a way that TRTR did, just ya know, not all Lara Croft-y.

I miss this ride. Not the later version of it with the hokey un-theming. But I really miss the Tomb Raider experience. There was nothing else quite like it, especially around the Midwestern neck of the woods. I would be content with a standard Top Spin to take over the building and maybe do something else theming wise to it. They could mostly keep the rustic ambiance in there. Keep to River Town and do an abandoned saw mill. Incorporate some really cool log saws under the ride to give riders the effect they are going to be met with giant spinning toothed blades before flipping right back upward. Doubt this would ever happen but never out of the realm of possibilities.

Well they have officially announced the date of sale for WCO tickets. Tickets go on sale January 21st and 10AM. The event itself takes place February 22nd. And of course this event will come with yet another price hike of $100. Just.....yeah. But no doubt this event will set out. https://www.cedarpoint.com/events/winter-chill-out

Actually I came up with Six Axes thanks but @BeeastFarmercreated this great artwork for it!

I think it's fair to say that asking any of these places what their plans are with attractions are going to be met with a lot of fluff or auto-generated responses. The luke-warm vagueness is all the rage.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
DJSkyFoxx replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
I for one really enjoy Skyflyer. Its the biggest thrill in the park to me. I always do it on Pride Night as is tradition. And I might do it if I catch it on the cheap on other visits. I will be sad if they take it down, but I wouldn't be surprised. -
Perfect!!! I appreciate your added sense of humor to my comment!!!

I will now, going forward, refer to this company as "Six Axes". Just change the flags to axes at this point. This is the new world order I guess.

Worlds of Fun ride removal rumors
DJSkyFoxx replied to OverlandTaxis30's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
At this point, I simply do not trust anything about this new company. Rumors seem to be coming true bit by bit and with more coming down the pipeline, they seem to have zero problems closing rides and giving absolutely no notice. All I can say is if a rumor comes about and seems strongly supported, better to be safe than sorry and go ride whatever ride is slated to come down next. All of this is just ugly. -
Seeing that mangled track is so sad. And knowing that Ka will be getting the same treatment is just gut wrenching. Chang/Green Lantern may not have been as iconic as Ka, but it still had a history and still meant something to someone. Had it been allowed to stay at KK I believe it would have been refurbished and still running to this day as a major attraction. And who knows, it might have gotten a floorless conversion when the park came back from the dead and it would be a fun huge coaster still operating today. The what ifs are always mind numbing. All I can say is I realllllllyyy super do not like the direction of this merger thus far. From an optics standpoint this just stinks.

"It is what it is" might suit many, but not everyone. Remember, a ride you hate is a favorite to someone else with happy memories/sentimental value. I am aware that business decisions are not dictated by emotion, but you know, many industries these days have completely lost their ability to have any human touch. There is always a way to go about things with tact and grace even if it is a must. Just because something has to happen does not mean that there shouldn't be some sense of commitment to the guests/fans that gave them their success. But alas. Here we are. The wheels will keep turning and laser cutters will slice steel tracks and bulldozers will level grounds. And people will continue to purchase passes and patronize these facilities. I just think the people deserve better. *shrugs*

I will believe it when I see it officially announced, but sadly I would not be shocked since these models seem to be a nightmare for parks to operate and maintain as they are older Vekoma models with a lot of moving parts. I fear these will become extinct in the US without any new Vekoma flyers to arrive stateside. I would really love to see something like F.L.Y make its way over here, but no parks seem to be in a hurry to adopt these models even with the improved design and ride quality. If this is officially closing, I will be really sad for those who didn't get to obtain their final rides without notice. Would hate to see a trend of closing rides forever and not allowing people to say goodbye.
