Kings Island Halloween Haunt 2025 Discussion
DJSkyFoxx replied to Losantiville Mining Co.'s topic in Kings Island
I didn't make an issue. The lack of CLEAR information presented on what to do is absurd and THAT is an issue. Not my fault. I wasn't rude to her, however, she was rude to me from GO based just on the fact alone that my physical pass card is an old Platinum pass that WORKED just fine when she scanned it. And from there her attitude continued. I was polite to her the entire time, but I did stand firm on what I knew. As a guest with clear as mud info on how to proceed with this particular endeavor, this is where the employees need to be on their game. Being rude to me because I still had a physical pass card that happened to still have the Platinum title on it wasn't any reason to treat me like I was doing something illegal. I will also advise that the ticket booth did not appear to be open. So if I needed any further assistance more than likely I would have been sent to guest services. Don't assume how I was with this lady. You weren't there. I've worked in enough customer facing roles and STILL work with the GP on a day to day basis where I know how to speak to people appropriately. I literally have to in the line of work I do as however my tone comes across can change the entire outcome of a situation. I'm not one of those monster guests who makes an a$$ of myself, but if I am not being given the tools needed to make a situation work, that is not my problem. I've never been treated like this before by staff at this park even when an issue arose. -
Kings Island Halloween Haunt 2025 Discussion
DJSkyFoxx replied to Losantiville Mining Co.'s topic in Kings Island
I was also there last night! I think it might be safe to say that Thursday nights will be THEE go to nights for an actual good Haunt experience. The low crowds made for a much better experience. The vibes were absolutely vibin'. Lines were essentially non-existent for the rides unless of course you wanted to wait for a specific seat. Even then, seriously wouldn't even count that as hardly anything. Staff seemed in good spirits. I will say my only negative interaction last night was upon entering the park. I had an older lady at the scan in who did not seem to understand two very simple things. One-I still have and use my old Platinum pass card because the QR code is valid due to me renewing my pass each year and their system just recycling that same code for current day. She very rudely told me that they "no longer used those" and I had to explain to her that what the actual pass card said didn't matter, it was the QR code that was still valid and renewed for 2026. She was so rude and simultaneously confused about it I had to take my cell phone out and open the app to show her that I indeed DID have a 2026 gold pass and that it did not matter which QR code I used from whichever source since they were both the same thing. She kept asking me if I "upgraded" to a gold pass from prestige? Common lady... This all became an issue because I wanted to use my free BAF ticket (which is the second and primary reason for this snafu to begin with...) that was invisible to me but supposedly visible to them as I had my partner with me and she has not yet gotten her pass for next season. I explained to her that I bought my 2026 pass during the initial sale for next year's passes and it was to include a BAF ticket that wasn't visible to me, but should be on their side. The lady had to call over a supervisor and thankfully he was really nice about it and didn't make a stink over it and let us proceed. I wish I had gotten both of their names because the woman scanning tickets/passes clearly needs more education on her job as well as a massive attitude adjustment ( rudest person I have dealt with at KI to date honestly...everyone else has always been helpful or at the very least not rude while trying to understand something ) and the supervisor's name for not making the process any more challenging than it needed to be and letting us in to enjoy our night. We caught the pre-closing fountain show too and that really was such a fun and enjoyable display! I see what you all meant now about the use of the pyrotechnics being excellent and the overall use of the fountains and lights themselves was very well done. I look forward to catching at least one or two more Haunts on a Thursday night. It's worth going to bed a little later for the low crowds, low stress and all fun kind of night. Not to mention the weather was absolutely perfect. -
Remember the Grip: The Vortex at Kings Island
DJSkyFoxx replied to DonHelbig's topic in Kings Island
Honestly both Vortex and Firehawk hit me hard and with both rides being removed back to back seasons. Vortex, like for many countless others, was my first big looping coaster and holds a special place in my heart for that reason and many others. It also was removed the same year so many other facets of my life changed in a big and not so happy way. The removal of this ride was symbolic of that and was deeply felt. I was thankful that I was able to get one final ride on it for its official last day of operation as well as a ton of pictures and videos. The fact that the plot is still empty and only serves as a drone pad feels so wrong. Vortex was an iconic staple and was easily one of the rides you associated with the park in the same way one would with The Beast and Racer. Until we get a replacement worthy of that plot, I don't think any long time KI fans are going to fully get over the loss of the once great Vortex. -
Thanks for the clarification @disco2000! It is pretty inefficient to make that bonus item invisible on the end of the pass holder.
-
I'd like to gain one more point of clarification. I bought my 2026 pass during the early sale and it was said to include one BAF ticket, however, said ticket does not show up on my end as the pass holder but I've read that it apparently shows up for staff at the ticket window? I just want to make sure because I would really hate to bring someone and it not even exist.

Although after looking at the layout for this, now I am kind of sad we didn't get this seeing as it was on one of the surveys for KI last year. This would have been incredible for our park, but alas.

I don't think I have ever heard anyone say that a housing development looks good ...and personally from the photos I've seen...its an eyesore. Cookie-cutter, low quality builds that are over-priced that won't stand the test of time in years to come. Nothing attractive about that IMO, I'd have rather seen the entire plot of land be returned back to nature and become a nature preserve instead of another crappy HOA. I'm glad some of the land will be salvaged for public use and the wave pool/tri-quarium will supposedly be seeing new life again. I'd make a special trip up there for that just to relive what little is left. But yeah. If it were up to me I'd have bought up all the land, busted up the concrete on one side of the park-preferably the lot in worse shape, laid down dirt and planted tons of trees and turn it into a park space for people to explore and enjoy. Not everything needs to turn into a housing edition. Just sayin'!

Kings Island Halloween Haunt 2025 Discussion

Then just go to Dollywood? If every park operated exactly the same that would be incredibly boring. Roaming scare actors have been apart of Haunt all this time and even though it might be the "free" scares in today's Haunt, I'm glad they still have them. That also provides part time jobs for folks too which is also a good thing. I will still never understand the mentality of any of this "leave me alone" stuff. Simply DON'T attend Haunt? Go to the daytime event. Or go any other day of the year prior to Haunt when the park is open and stays for night rides. It's like going to any haunted attraction and complaining about getting scared/annoyed. You know what you signed up for as every haunted attraction has information and disclaimers. In some cases, even waivers. There is always going to be room for improvement and room for growth, however, this is the first year with some big changes and things will probably be different next year depending on how things go this year. But at it's core, Haunt has remained the same and therefore successful enough to last 25 years. We never know what the future holds, but I hope for 25 more years and beyond of Haunt at KI and wish it continued success. -
Could be maybe that they don't want to "highlight" it and have people wondering about it while its down and out for the count. Maybe I am just being too optimistic. Really hoping it gets at least one or two more seasons and that they will do the full repair when the park is closed for the off season.

Kings Island Halloween Haunt 2025 Discussion
DJSkyFoxx replied to Losantiville Mining Co.'s topic in Kings Island
Legitimate question here. And one that has always crossed my mind and I never asked before. Has anyone here ever worked as a scare actor and have you/a fellow scare actor ever mistakenly scared someone wearing a "No Boo" necklace? I sorta wondered since on really crowded nights, how do you manage that? And you know, I imagine when getting into full character a slip could happen especially if said person wearing said necklace has their back turned or somehow buried in a hoodie? Just random Friday morning curiosity. -
If Batwing really did get fixed and is able to safely operate, what a disservice it is to let it sit there not operating while loyal park fans/Vekoma FD fans don't get a chance to say goodbye or earn that now rare credit. And if this truly could be salvaged...common Indiana Beach...you know what to do! Imagine riding this over the water!

Glad to see they're staying. From an aesthetics standpoint, the Peanuts give off a more clean, consistent vibe rather than how the Looney Toons theming comes off IMHO. Granted I realize some might say that about the Nick characters from the Paramount days and maybe I am biased since I grew up watching Nickelodeon. But having a little bit of that Universal Studios feeling right here in the Midwest was special to me.

Kings Island Halloween Haunt 2025 Discussion

I know park merch has always been a bit pricey as is to be expected in any of these sorts of places, but man do I miss the days when stuff still felt somewhat more reasonable for what you were buying vs today when most hoodies are $70+. That's not to say there still aren't some closer to $50+, but most of the ones I like are in the higher priced categories. Overall, I miss when merch was a little more reasonable vs being absolutely insane now. I get it though....cheap passes etc etc. I got to see some of this stuff while at the park for PN and saw some cool pieces. Just can't justify the cost for it. -
Agree with the sentiments already made. Having to use your phone for literally everything is just ridiculous. I get that in some ways it makes sense to have everything linked to one place and since 99.9% of the population has a smart phone, just make it all in one spot. But if we could just go back to have physical cards/maps/etc this would help cut down maybe even a small fraction of people having to use their cell phones for EVERYTHING and thus maybe some people will keep their phone locked up or with a non-rider or in their vehicle instead of it flying out on a ride. I know there will always be stupid people who think that THEIR on-ride video or pictures or whatnot will be better than any professional/made with permission content....so long as there are cell phones and no real policing of devices in the parks across the board, but having the option to have physical items again would be helpful. Not to mention for those of us who just like to collect things of this nature to have as small keepsakes or scrapbooking material. And yes....them not having physical passes is just nonsense. I still use my old Platinum Pass from years ago because the barcode is still valid so long as I keep it renewed. But the idea that I can't get a new pass card is annoying. I like having the card because it makes going through the parking tolls easier as the scanner reads the card's barcode much better than on a phone. Using your phone to scan in is slow and not always accurate and hold's up the line if you do a self-scan in. And it's also nice to be able to hang onto it in SC because it's waterproof and any time myself or my lady get thirsty I can keep it with me to obtain drinks without having to go back and forth to our locker to retrieve a phone for this matter. Now I know there are people doing work-arounds with this by printing off their barcodes and laminating them to effectively be able to accomplish the same thing one would with a physical card. But this just proves that there is still a need for them!

If a Screamin' Swing goes anywhere, as already previously discussed, I think the best placement would be in the former Xtreme Skyflyer plot. That seems like the best use of that space if such a ride were to make its way to KI. I highly doubt KI will get a Screamin' Swing though. I don't feel like there is a wide installation of those. If Invertigo ends up Invertigone ( sorry not sorry for the puns ), they better put something worthy in it's place. I will repeat, even if the ride isn't as popular as it once may have been, no one can deny the intensity factor. It is one of the very few truly intense rides left in the park that doesn't apologize for being so. If something much tamer took its place I would be really disappointed.

I fear that most Intamins, regardless of model, may see the axe a lot sooner than we want them to. Considering a lot of the "greatest hits" are now 20+ or close to that age mark now, most of them being prototypes or early technology users, I fear we may see a lot more of them get taken down in favor or lower cost/higher reliability rides. Maybe I am overreaching on this mentality, but I really don't think I am. This is a chain in absolute dire straits from everything we've seen so far. I have zero faith they will invest in anything they see no profit from or anything that is going to cost them more than it's worth if they can get away with it. Even if said coaster is historic/popular, I simply don't see them caring if their bottom dollar has to suffer to improve or upgrade something that is over 20+ years old. Six Axes seems to know no bounds.

Yeah those cables have been hanging for a moment. I guess you could say it's still very "Invertibroken". I wish the park would make some kind of formal announcement about it-whether they decide to remove it or repair it. I really hate this whole line of secrecy. And the fact that the park was essentially hounded into making sure people knew Monster wasn't going anywhere. Why can't the same courtesy be made for Invertigo? I know that SF has been awful about letting people know about ride removals, but I just don't see the benefit in doing that. Transparency will always garner more respect than not.

Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare New in 2026
DJSkyFoxx replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Happy for the PT fans as your wish has been granted. I will give it a try at some point next year. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out. Still curious though. This doesn't fit the 2026 Family Thrill attraction...unless that's been canceled in lieu of this...or there is still something waiting around the corner for the old Crypt building (highly doubtful...) -
I just want to say that 8 years later, MT is absolutely my favorite coaster in the park. She's obviously fully broken in at this point and she is now about to be in her peak time of year. I love a chilly night ride on this thing. Row 12 or bust for me.

Restaurants OR Food You Want To Bring Back To Kings Island?
DJSkyFoxx replied to kingsislandfan1972's topic in Kings Island
Bring back the pumpkin spice funnel cake! I'll fully admit my basic self absolutely loved this and wish they would bring it back for one of the fall food items -
This actually truly would be a haunted attraction/maze! Trying to navigate through the DG without getting hurt. Testing your physical strength to move carts/totes that are in your way and your mental stamina for patience to try and find help...but the help is sitting outside on a smoke break yelling at their SO over late bills or kids Sadly I am not a PT fan. I was very young when I got to experience it and honestly barely remember anything about it. I was probably 4-5 years old at the time and it doesn't hold any real value to me. I realize it is very popular with those of you who got to experience it and remember it vividly and if this is a reboot of it, I'm happy for you. But honestly if it is a reboot, it probably won't exactly entice much excitement from me unless they do something really unique/imaginative with it. Otherwise, it'll just be one of those things that I'll wait to do on a day that isn't terribly busy to experience because the nostalgia for this particular thing isn't for me.

It is interesting to see this teaser shot in two different buildings. The obvious first shots being taken in the planned closed Boo Blasters building and the very short segment in The Crypt building. Out of the two, I am far more curious as to what they have planned for The Crypt building.
