No, that's being saved for Soak City, since he's both all wet and likes to beach.6 points

I was hoping to write a trip report today with my photos and videos, but due to me not having much time today, I will just write a report today and hope to get photos and videos uploaded within the next couple of days. I hope to get them up soon, so keep checking here for up to date photos and videos i've uploaded. http://s1251.photobu...ds%20KI%202012/ So, I left my house at about 6:45AM on Sunday and headed to KI. I easily found 1-Team Way (Where we had to enter) and parked. My mom dropped me off and I got a green t-shirt, that had to be worn for identification reasons. I got there around 7:15, and didn't really recognize any KIC'ers. Around 7:40 who I thought were IndyGuy4KI/Brad and Avatar/Jesse walking towards the park. I said hi to Brad to make sure it was him, then Don told us our plan for the day. Something he said that wasn't mentioned anywhere else was that we would meet up for the 7:00 Ed Alonzo magic show, and get front row seating for it. We then entered the empty park through the main entrance, and walked to The Racer. I took the back row on the second train for a couple rides. After 2 rides in the back, I just couldn't tolerate it, and switched to a non wheel seat. I switched seats a lot and took no breaks for what I counted as 49 rides (using a counter). The Racer crew couted 51 rides, so that could either mean I forgot a couple on my counter, or they miscounted, or both. It was then time for lunch and we headed to the International Restraunt (above the entrance). It was a very nice and fancy place. There was even small Eiffel Tower models in the middle of our tables. There was wraps, chips, and cookies to eat. I ate at a table with Avatar/Jesse, IndyGuy4KI/Brad, Jlopez(right?)/Jennifer, XGatorHead/Gary, JCGoble3/Jonathon, and Fire-Beast-OF-FEAR/Didn't get his name. Food was great. I got a wrap, a little chips, and 2 sugar cookies. There were also families that were at the GKTW village talking about there fantastic trips, so I knew I was donating to a great cause. It was now time to head back to The Racer. The first half of the day I was solo on every ride, and now I had a few rides with riding buddies. I switched up seats a bit, until at about 70 rides I went to the front row and Fire-Beast-OF-FEAR joined me. We had 10 fun rides in the front together until he had to go, then JCGoble3/Jonathon joined me. We rode in the front together for 20 rides, and I got to 100 rides, without taking a break. The Racer crew counted about 8 more rides then what I counted though, so this could mean what I mentioned earlier. A couple rides later, I took a quick break to take a couple videos. They then said there was time for 1 more ride, so I hopped on with IndyGuy4KI/Brad for my last ride. I ended up with 103 rides, maybe more if I forgot to count a few. We then all headed to The Beast for The Beast tour. We waited around 10 minutes and then Don took us behind a gate into the tour. It was a great tour, they took us really far back, and I got some nice videos of the ride, because of the many great angles we got. I then went with my lunch group towards the KI theater, and waited for around the fountains for about 15 minutes. We then headed to the theater, and I met up with my mom, and Don took us back into the theater for front row seating, even though I got 2nd row. It was a nice show, with some good tricks and stuff. The KIC group I was in wanted to go to Hanks to eat, so I tagged along. I got a taco salad, and it was pretty good, with a nice fresh shell as Jesse pointed out. At this time, there was still Brad, Gary, Jesse, and Jonathon in the group, and Jennifer just left. Gary suggested WindSeeker, so we all headed to it. It was a nice, relaxing ride. We were then walking around, and I suggested Backlot, mainly because the line didn't look long from WindSeeker. It was only about 10 minutes, and WindSeekers wait was just to wait for the cycle to finish. It was a nice ride on Backlot, and I got the front hot seat. Beside me and the KICers, we were also with Gary's wife, Gary's daughter, and my mom. We then headed for a sort of Beast night ride. The line was only like 10 or 15 minutes. My mom dosen't do The Beast, but the KICers talked my mom into that if she went in a middle row, it's not shaky at all. It was a great ride, and my mom liked it and was ok. It was about 9:30, so we headed to Diamondback for a night ride. Gary's daughter still had a ways to go to be tall enough, but I can tell she will be a big coaster rider to. So she took to the bench with my mom. The wait was about 25 minutes, and I saw a lot of fast laners. We were just 1 train early for a fireworks ride, so that's to bad. We then sat down and watched the fireworks, then headed out. Definitely one of my best trips to KI ever, and it was great to finally meet some KICers. Thanks for reading, and photos/videos are coming soon!2 points

I'm surprised BB1 hasn't posted yet about a family at the park saying "Let's go to Soak City!" Hopefully someone understands.1 point

Why does this go under this thread, it's a very simple question... Yeah, I get asked that all the time. Hell, I was asked that question at least three times during Coasting for Kids. So many people rely on their cell phone for the time these days instead of a watch like I do, and when they stick it in an overpriced locker to avoid losing it in DB's nets or having it ruined on WWC, they're left with no way to determine the time except to ask someone with a watch. The question is even more common in the waterpark, where I'm often the only person in sight with a watch because mine is waterproof. So it's not a dumb question at all.1 point

What Kings Island needs is to take care of SOB before they even think of getting any new ride or attraction.1 point

I received this note from a personal friend, that I thought I should share with you all. What you and King's Island and their great staff did Sunday really makes a difference! Thank you very much for coasting today! My son M. has a terminal illness called Mitochondrial disease. Because of this he was granted a wish to Disney and Give Kids The World! We had an amazing time and appreciate all the support they are given by people like you! Thanks again and don't forget to have ice cream for breakfast! ;-)1 point

I uploaded many, but not all to photobucket. Hopefully those of you who rode will find one of yourself in there someplace. Whole album: http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l86/gooberwiper/CoastingForKidsKI2012/1 point

I agree with you guys, poor parenting. Glad the child was ok. What is up with the "groups" of young kids running thru the park, with no parents in sight. I went a few weeks ago, and noticed young groups of 10 and 11 year old kids running around KI without ant parents. My son is 11, and no way would I let him run around the park with a few other boys his age.1 point

Walking into Adventure Express sunday a young lady asked us,"is this The Beast", i said,"why yes it is". I looked back and she was gone! I felt so bad,i was gonna tell her i was kidding.1 point

Oh my God, this made my day. This just goes to show that it's not just the young who are clueless. No kidding - I mean everyone knows it was called Boomerang Bay when the dummy fell off WindSeeker That rumor is a good example of how quickly false info can travel - I'm amazed at how often it is shared.1 point

I always find myself in the minority of liking Mantis. It has a fun layout, and it has never been painful to me. On another note, I don't think a stand-up coaster should be built at KI. Even at Cedar Point, it never has much of a line. That probably means that the majority does not like the ride. A wing-rider would please almost everyone, but with the one coming to Cedar Point next year, and whatever they are building at Canada's Wonderland, it is doubtful we will get something large next year.1 point

Hey, Album Reviews is over in another thread! LOL that they crammed into the dryer, though. I guess the photo booths don't have that added element of "danger." Well i am a man at work, in the land down under, or better yet the one who just breathes and is another brick in the wall.1 point

ohiocolts, A VERY nice trip report! I am sorry that I never got to say hi to you...but I did see you...Jennifer pointed you out to me. When you got into the front seat I asked one of The Racer crew to get a picture of you. (I am still digging through my pictures, but I will post it.)1 point

Keith, Thank you SO much for taking the time to take all of those pictures. As you mentioned it was not possible for us riders to do this so these are great to have. You even managed to get a shot of me that I DO like! See ya, J.D.1 point

I saw the show for the first time last night, as Don gave the CFK participants priority seating for the 7:00 show. I agree with most of what's been said here. The dancers were not entirely G-rated, but still reasonably appropriate for a family environment; as others said above, you'll see much more out in the park and especially the waterpark. The tricks were good, and Ed himself was genuinely funny and good with the ad libs. He even cracked a joke about our bright green CFK shirts. Overall, it was a great show.1 point

I was glad to see the park announce a magic show this year. (As I have mentioned in the past, I avoid the music shows at the park religiously.) I must admit that I probably wouldn't have rushed to see this show if it hadn't have been for SoakCity's review...I just had to see if it was nearly as lame as he was claiming. After watching it not once but twice on Saturday I must say that (IMHO) his review is totally unfair. I was entertained both times. Sure an adult can figure out SOME of the tricks...so what? The tricks are only part of the show...I found Ed a very personable and funny guy. (And I am way too old to have ever watched Saved by The Bell...so I am not biased.) He is quick-witted, at both of the shows I saw he adlibbed some very funny lines based on what his volunteer assistant said or did...or didn't do. With the exception that the dancers seemed a bit out of place..not really raunchy, just out of place, I thought the show was great...and judging by the laughter I was not alone. I would also like to say that after each show you can meet Ed & have a picture taken. (No charge.) While waiting my turn I was impressed just how nice he was...he took time with each person and made them feel special. It struck me that here was someone who truly enjoys their "work". (Or he is a VERY good actor! ) I was last in line...and when it was finally my turn, I told him that I thought he did a great job and that I just wanted to check out the show for myself after the review on Kings Island Central he said to me something to the effect of "Oh, what did it say?" (So much for how important some of us think this site is!)1 point

Hey guys, sorry this took so long. Anyways, I will try a different approach with this PTR since I took a lot more pictures. Monday morning, May 21.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

So, we parked the charter bus around 9:30, but we didn't actually set foot in the park until somewhere around 10:00 (now that I look back, I think the park itself wasn't open just yet--we thought it was ticket issues).

The very first thing we headed to was Incredible Hulk. The ride wasn't open for the day just yet, so we waited for about 3 minutes whie they were still making empty test runs. This was a wonderful opportinity to get some great photos. I was getting excited from just hearing the distinct B&M roar roaring over our heads. This was one of the rides I looked forward to most, and it did not fail my expectations. I must say, the POV's on Youtube don't capture anything of what this ride experience was like. I loved the minor details that were included with the ride, like the mist, the water jets, etc. The ride was phenominal. 1 billion/10

After this, we went to Storm Force Acceleration. At first, I thought that this was another motion simulator (like what almost every ride at Universal is ), so I was a little hesitant to ride. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a well-themed teacup ride! I haven't been on one of these in awhile, so my group and I went straight there! I was glad that Islands of Adventure put effort into theming an almost impossible to theme flat. 7/10

It about 10:20 at this time. Some of the groups from yesterday (not ours) went to IoA when they were finished with Universal, and they reccommended "the circley raft thing". You guessed it, we were off to Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges. This ride is the same model of ride as White Water Canyon, except instead of traversing through the woods, there are these really cool sets that we travel through (and plenty of opportunities to get soaked!). My favorite thing about this ride was that I lost track of where we were. There are so many twists and turns, you wonder why you never see any other part of the basin or the park for that matter. I didn't really like how far you have to walk back to get to the ride though (and on a cold morning with noone in line and no turnstiles open, it's really long! I just can't imagine waiting a full queue for this!) It's a great water ride, I highly reccommend it. 9/10.

We liked Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges so much, we rode it again! We weren't allowed to stay on, so we had to walk all that way AGAIN! Good exercise, though.

It was about 11:30 am now. After Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges, since we were still really wet, we figured that we might as well get all this water over with by the time we have to leave! So, we headed for Dudley Do Right's Rip Saw Falls. This log flume is very unique. Whenever we thought we reached the end, wrong! This log flume tricks you into thinking that "Here's the big one!" so much, that when it does come, you say "Oh this isn't it!" and you get a real surprise. There's a double-down, so you get some really good airtime on that drop. The theming was very good, too, all making the ride better. 8.7/10.

11:45 comes rolling along. Since Jurassic Park was nearby, I suggested that we ride Jurassic Park River Adventure. Our chaperone said we were wet enough already, so she said "maybe later". We didn't get a chance to ride.

By now, we all wanted to go to "Harry Potter World" (I always had to correct them by saying "NO! It's the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!") We kinda just wandered over, using Jurassic Park as a walkthrough (like many do with Kings Island's Oktoberfest) to get to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. I must say, this is a must-ride for anyone going to Islands of Adventure. I loved how they used the Hogwarts facade, and making you go through the castle to get to the ride. I loved how the station had those endless "floating candles". The ride is a motion simulator, but not the kind of the Simpsons' Ride of likes. It's kinda like the Robotic Arm in RCT3 (wow... I can't believe I just made that reference! ). It's a great ride that captures the Harry Potter world very well.10/10.

It's about 12:30 now, and we decided to take a break. Someone in our group saw a stand in Hogsmeade that had pumpkin juice. She got some for her, her sister, and her friend. While we were at the stand, I saw churros! I've never had an amusement park churro before, so I decided to get a churro. I do say, those cinnamon churros taste great.

It was about 1:00 now, after mozying around for a bit. I really wanted to do <strike>Dueling Dragons </strike>Dragon Challenge, so we did that. It was a bit of a tossup between Hungarian Horntail and Chinese Fireball. In the end, we chose Hungarian Horntail (blue). I really wish there was an on-ride photo section for this ride, or I would get it! Oh well, I ended up getting one at the end of the day. The ride was really fun (we sat in the front row, so that made it better), I just wish that we were dueling. Would have been better. I love how the track weaves in and out of itself (dueling would have made an epic ride-- and an epic photo opportunity!) It was really smooth, and blows Raptor out of the water IMO. 7.9/10

After this, we got the world famous butterbeer! I got frozen, and let me tell you, this is a must-get for an IoA trip.

Since it was about 1:30 now (our group+chaperones moves slow), and we were leaving around 2-2:15, my three friends and I all picked up the pace to get to the Hulk one more time for the final ride of our day, since it was by far the general favorite ride there. We ended up getting to ride it twice, both times as amazing as before. I got a ride photo at the end of it all.

Pros:

The park was extremely clean.

Safety seemed paramount.

The overall feel to the park felt like I was actually there, be it in a comic book or in Hogsmeade.

The employees (for the most part) were great with interacting and kept great dispatch times(--someone's been trained right!).

I did not see a single ride down at all.

Every ride was great.

Cons:

None! Everything about the park was great, and I look forward to visiting IoA again at some point in the future.

Rides I rode:

The Incredible Hulk (x 3)

Storm Force Acceleration

Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges (x 2)

Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

Dragon Challenge (Hungarian Horntail / Ice / Blue)

Rides I didn't ride:

Dr. Doom's Fear Fall (shot or drop)

The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman

Jurassic Park River Adventure

Flight of the Hippogriff

Poseidon's Fury

Everything in Seuss Landing

The crowds weren't really bad, things remained a walk on pretty much the entire day (scarce you'd find a line more than 20 min), but our group moved slow.

The Incredible Hulk

Incredible Hulk flare

Incredible Hulk sign and train in mid corkscrew.

I just barely missed the train in this shot. In the event that the train gets stuck in the "banked curve" (after weaving through the police cars), the rider is close to being inverted (espeically the one near the opening. Should one pass out from all the blood rushing to their head, the foot restraint is designed to keep you in the seat and not fall out. I don't believe that the ride has ever operated at 100% since opening as was intended/marketed. The helicopter scene was much better with all of the fire and water effects, however the hard water marks left on the cars did not go over well.1 point

*sigh* Liking a Facebook page will not hasten the decision. The park will take their time and make a decision when they are ready to do so, not rush into one at the insistence of people on Facebook. To do otherwise would be folly.1 point
